In your opinion, which MMORPG feature has:

1) evolved the most, since the begining of the genre?

Evolved in a positive way? Probably economies and crafting. Although UO was great, look at what EVE and PotBS are economy-wise and what Vanguard is for crafting.

2) changed the least, since the begining of the genre?

Thing that has changed the least? Well.. We're still swinging swords and blocking with shields in almost every MMO we have so I'm going to go with timeframe MMOs take place in. There are a few sci-fi, I know. But not enough. And only a couple pirate ones :P

3) changed (for the worse), since the begining of the genre?

Grouping. Definitely. Grouping used to mean something in a MMO, it made players learn to PLAY in order to get to the highest level, or advance their skills in case of sandbox games. If you sucked, word got around and you didn't get groups so you didn't advance at all. Now you can just solo to the top in pretty much every MMO out (save FFXI and it's amazing grouping system). That really kills the immersion with games being on an epic scale with communities.

Just to be clear, these are three answers for three DIFFERENT features.  I'll leave my answers out, because I don't want to "steer" the thread in any specific direction.

Red answers.

Simu has had the same prices for it's MUDs since 1997.

They're never going to lower the prices, since Dragonrealms still keeps around 600-700 people online at primetime.

Not enough people are willing to play MUDs anymore. I played Dragonrealms for about 5 years before quitting. The MUD community is gone from almost every MUD. It's pretty much a wasted effort to try and start playing one now. All the "old" players just sit around and talk or go to their homes and cyb0r. That's about it. Just pick up graphics. MUDs are dead.

OP.

Go play FFXI, do endgame there where it could take up to a few HOURS to kill one boss.

Then go play WoW where you can run through the hardest instance killing 6 bosses in the same amount of time.

I'm in the same boat as Lobo. I just don't find games fun anymore. I enjoy grouping. I played FFXI for 4 years and loved it, I just don't have the time anymore.

I recently picked up eve about a month ago, I'm working toward all the pvp stuff right now, but I can't seem to play for that long at a time, it just gets boring going out and running missions in the empire. But I'm waiting it out in hopes that once I get a little more advancement in my character the pvp will never make me want to try something else.

AOC will flop, from what I've seen.

As will WAR.

Let's just hope Bioware isn't going to screw us over too.

Make sure your social skills are up too, for more rep per mission.

Hunter, Ganker, PvPer, Explorer..

I'm that guy that comes out of left field when you're in the most out of the way location to kick your butt.

FFXI was the best MMO I've ever played.

What's hilarious is that every other MMO I go to, if I group with other people who played FFXI, those players are generally much better at following directions and playing in general, than other MMO players, especially those WoWtards.
