After reading through the whole FAQ and features list on the site, and peering hard at the graphics and style, I'm sure as hell gonna give this one a shot. Reckon my other half will too, she's still bouncing about the chance to play goblins :)

Planetside - A Sony Online Entertainment Created Metaverse and Virtual World

One of the best MMOs ever made. I could care less for those that like to 'pwn', but this game is great for those that love team-based combat and tactics. There's nothing like being stuck in a bridge fight with several hundred other soldiers and vehicles. Missiles and bullets and junk whizzing by your head.
I didn't like the introduction of the BFRs, dunno why developers always think they need to change the game to fit certain cultural stereotypes when marketting abroad (BFRs were made to give the game a chance in Asia - not that it was necessary to be honest). It's still a fantastic game, and the only PvP game that I could ever play. Probably because it requires hand/eye skills, and not macros and phat lewt. Anyways, it's even free to play now. Grab it, play it, get yourself in an outfit and have fun. |

Well, if you look real close, SWG is currently receiving 'brand new' patches, and with each one, the game begins to appear more like pre-CU...

Despite being one of the masochistic vets who stills plays regularly with ever-diminishing crowds, I can do nothing but wholeheartedly with this write-up.
Though I'm certain various people at SOE realised and tried to affirm that the NGE was not a good plan. However I believe such people had rank pulled on them. I won't say who, as I don't know. All in all, the NGE is an exercise about how not to make changes to a mmo. |

Er..off topic :)
Apparently I was trolling. Just received a warning for it. Apologies to mods if I was trolling, it wasn't my intent. |

Slightly off-topic, but it seems my virus warning thread got deleted. I wonder why. I wasn't bashing the game, and it seems odd to delete a thread containing a useful post...

This Cleopetra reminds me of the now ex-Tiggs, from SWG. That woman talked a lot and never said anything useful. Strangely enough, as predicted, she was dropped from SOE a few months later.
I don't mind devs/community folks having a laugh with their customers, it's real nice, and human. But DnL is a game with problems and customers with serious concerns, and all they seem to get by way of communication are half-assed, jokey emails from the team, devoid of anything useful. |

Yes, cancel your account, and get a damn refund. Many MMO developers seem to think that passing off a shoddy, non-functional piece of junk software, then daring to ask for monthly fees, is acceptable.
It's simple, are you enjoying DnL? Do you think it's worth 14,99 a month? |

Isn't there already a thread just like this one?

That word gets used a lot these days. Look up the meaning of 'racism' sometime. A generalism yes, racism no. |

There's a few games in the making that appear to have interesting philosophies about such things. Hero's Journey being a prime example, and perhaps to a lesser extent; Vanguard.
I have to admit, that I've been playing a little MxO lately, and while it's similar to CoH, they've captured the feel and atmosphere of the Matrix very well. Very easy to immerse and RP in that game. Also, the community building tools and the characters in SWG are what still pull me back to that game constantly, despite the poor state of the game at present. |

So you think it's ok to steal, pirate and rip off people who worked hard to create something? |

The bones are there now, but it needs muscle, flesh and a capillary system. In other words, The base systems are in place, it just needs filling up again. Publish 29 is about to go live, which introduces a lot of the new combat changes. Worth a read.

I had a look at There... thankfully I didn't look too hard. A poor man's version of SL.

Why even continue to argue with each other about it? Why always the stereotyping of people, because they don't do things the way you do?
The guy likes point & click, who cares? I could see the benefit of either. As long as you're enjoying your game time, who cares whether you shove a stick in the keyboard and wiggle it about to move? Anyways, tried out Silkroad. Didn't like it, uninstalled rather quick. |

Yup, still on my 10-day trial, and enjoying it. I can see the missions becoming repetitive, but what game doesn't have a grind in some way?
I think the feel of the Matrix has been very well captured, even from the start where you make a character. Very nicely done. Don't think it will be my main game, but I can see myself enjoying it (and RPing) got some time to come. |
