The Reason for Good Previews

Originally posted by BadSpock You need to get real, if you believe this. Better Sites Places and People than this entertainment forumn exist tenfold. You know that saying ...... If I ever feel down I come here as it always cheers me up and i get to realise that things aren't really bad at all. These days I play smaller online games that provide a lot of entertainment , all but two or three current MMOs are worth their salt. So I could be classed as bitter and twisted to how a once beautiful genre has been ruined. The introduction of Bioware into the MMO arena can only be a good thing. |

SWTOR wont be the game that wont make us fall back in love with MMOs.

Originally posted by Venekor A shame really because having played a lot if not all the online games prior to WoW you are missing out on a balanced view of how good an MMO can really be, not just an easy mode romp. WoW is a well put together game for making money is it really fun or challenging ... NO not really. Sadly the majority of the current MMO playerbase because of WoW means that the genres' player base has been dumbed down so much that challenging and fun MMOs are a rarity these days. SWTOR or any game I play is fun because it is to be enjoyed with friends, the problem is is there any real gameplay. SWTOR I believe because of the vast ammounts of content and worlds that can be explored does have a lot more value than the general dross being rolled out.
MMOs like Citadel of Sorcery are the types of development that may bring something back to the genre sadly the playerbase is now split with people who enjoy game play and those who just require auto win in a month which consiists of the WoW clones and Pay to Win games/ I mean F2P. |

Do MMOs need to be innovative to be fun?

Simple reply no they don't. For MMOs to be fun you need;
A number of things that contribute to the downfall of MMOs

Of all the games I was excited to try out at Eurogamer Expo, Star Wars: The Old Republic was definitely the most disappointing.

Star Wars: The Old Republic: The End of an Era and Beginning Anew
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/28/11 6:08:28 PM
You just have to laugh. SWTOR is releasing. Developed by a 100% professional outfit based around a great IP. Nothing else really matters. It is all about the now... The article above is of poor quality an also a poor approach misleading and applicable to probably delided MMOers' which I guess the writer has to cater for on this site. |

What does ''early access'' means?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 9/28/11 5:54:43 AM
Originally posted by malefacus Early access is exactly what it says , access before the official release date or another term used is head start..... The cost of an MMO is trivial from an expense perspective even if you only play it for a couple of night you have your moneys worth so that does not even come into the equation. Definition: Early

Speculation: What planets will be added to the game after launch?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 9/28/11 5:50:18 AM
I can't or am not going to live with any false expectations... with respect to content in or out of the game. The only expectation I have is that more content gets added on a regular basis and that includes additional planets, which is a basic request that will happen. I would be surprised if additional; planets/partial planets are not already in game..... but lets wait and see thats the whole enjoyment of the game to come. A planet for all intents and purposes is just another Zone so not hard to do , once they have a suitable environmental tile set available. |

Originally posted by whilan They already have the box sets in the STores; The videos / trailers would fit nicely to TV. I am not sure how much advertising they need before XMAS but I would expect some limited , with a lot more advertising after Christmas. They have more than enough subs with Pre Order , to load for release. Staggered customers joining the game suits them and fits in with a good gaming experience as the environment is likely to be more stable early 2012 than at release.

Barak , nice post. What stands out for me if the Professional approach that Bioware have taken from day one until now. A prime example of a good/great developer. See you in December well in mind because you will never know ......... who lurks behind that cornice. |
