I cancelled one account to show my displeasure with how the Devs are showing favortism, of course I'll start it back up again once the training time for the skill I started is up

I played Eve quite a while ago and after having seen the direction CCP was taking things and having been in a couple of really large alliances that just blew up on their own one day I cancelled my subscriptions and moved on. I played with three accounts, two were white hats types that worked in industrial based corps and alliances that did their best to create a viable 0.0 areas where people could go and have access to the rares and named NPC's. Of course the other was a rat bastard that would gate camp, jump rat hunters, miners or stray industrials without thinking twice about it. Eve has so many holes in it that all kinds on in game nefarious behavior takes place 24/7. Its not surprising that it would foster that same behavior outside of the game as well. That being CCP's own people making things just a little better for whomever it was they were backing, whether that group knew about it at the time or not. Now of course Pandora's box has been opened and you all know how that ended up, I don't think its going to bring down Eve because there are just too many lemmings playing the game for that to happen. They've invested so much time and money in their ingame persona's that leaving them is virtually impossible for them unless a house were to be dropped on their heads. For those that are sticking with Eve even after this, I pity you for your blind devotion to people that couldn't care less about you and only care about the money they can get out of you. For those that decided this was one straw too many, good for you. With this next generation of games coming out I'm hoping for a Sci-Fi one thats fun rather than one that makes me feel like I've just gotten another job, which is what Eve seems more like to me.

EVE Online: Worker Misconduct Allegations Addressed
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/18/07 5:54:14 AM
"In both cases, these accusations were recently brought forward when a player revealed the identity of numerous CCP employee characters. Since these play characters are known to belong to CCP employees, they will be removed from the game. Many of them have been around since the creation of EVE and it is most unfortunate that these developers are now forced to end their relationships with their in-game friends, but that is our policy when the anonymity of staff members has been compromised. Last summer, CCP implemented stricter monitoring procedures and audits on all CCP employees' EVE accounts. We are confident that our rigid procedures and protocol will prevent any misconduct or, at least, allow us to quickly discover it, should such an unfortunate scenario arise. As the community knows well, we at CCP enjoy not only playing EVE Online, but improving EVE and interacting with our playerbase. We feel EVE benefits from the developers playing EVE as any other members of the community do, and to impose artificial limitations -- such as no access to Tranquility or special flagging on a developer's player character -- would greatly hinder the development of EVE."
What I read there was contradictory, they say they are removing compromised characters but I find that exceptionally hard to believe, whats more likely is that they've been renamed and are still roaming around. That last paragraph pretty much sums it up for me, CCP wants their people playing the game, in it up to their ears so to speak. The problem that I see is that this is pretty much just saying we're going to monitor people more closely, but for all intents and purposes it business as usual in Iceland. Tell the players what they want to hear and cloud it with double speak so the message is moot. So long as the subscriptions keep coming in CCP is happy to shine on their players and let their own Dev's cause mayhem with their advanced knowledge of the game and the available mechanics which can be pushed to the breaking point. Which of course they will just shrug off calling it a feature instead of what it really is an exploit. Only in this particular case they get two for the price of one, they'll be exploiting the game itself and the players who think the playing field is level. |

Actually I think its pretty simple, MMROPG allows all the anti-WoW propaganda because Blizzard doesn't advertise here, if a company sends these people cash then they swing the Ban/Thread Delete bat hard on people who bash their wallets. End of story.

Sorry but anything connected to EA gets an automatic zero in my book, I won't subscribe and I will actively lobby others not to do so as well.

I don't see Eve closing anytime soon, unless they sell out to EA. What a horrid thought.

How to stop immature kids from playing MMORPGS
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 9/09/06 9:23:43 AM
I'd kick your lame 20 year old ass out on the street and then fill it with rock salt from a 12 guage if you even dared to come into my home and pull that kind of crap. I don't care if you're 20 or 26, you have zero respect for anyone including yourself. I'd venture a guess the only reason you didn't try that at your own home was because your parents keep you on a tighter lease there. Get a job, step away from the computer for more than 20 minutes a day, get your own place and of course grow up.

The biggest draw back I see is you can't re-roll, there are modfiers but they don't produce solid results to be effective. |
