[Column] The Secret World: Chainsaws, Reticules, and Drama
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/19/12 4:08:56 PM
You can keep the same type of targeting you currently have. It is an option to use reticule method. I enjoy TSW's limted buttons more than in GW2 (which I no longer play, btw) but I am not sure why. I still miss my shadow priest, even though for the most part, I used the same basic buttons and others were for special times like fear, mind control, etc. However, the limted buttons in TSW can be switched out anytime when not in combat, and the nice thing is being able to switch my weapons of choice which can really change playstyle..

Age of Conan: Leipzig - Content, DX 10 and Expansion
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 8/22/08 5:28:55 PM
They have lost too many paying customers. They need to sell an expansion to help keep their developers employed. How else can they justify dangling the planned fixes like a nice juicy carrot that might tempt us to return? |

I don't think a video would have helped with Age of Conan. The problems run deeper than anything that a video can reveal. I did enjoy the game until i reached max level and hit a brick wall. Nothing enjoyable to do. Too many bugs with the raids. Lack of PVP content, etc.
I do think smaller companies might bring hope. IF they start without the expectation of becoming commercial in the sense of WOW, if they are happy with making an awesome game that doesnt draw in millions of dollars, but has a loyal, smaller following.
I have been playing PC games for many years and it depresses me to see what has happened. Good games are few and far between, thanks to companies developing for the console market. In the past, I couldn't finish one game before another one that I just had to have, was hitting the shelves. But if some smaller company did want to develop for the PC (and I am not talking MMOs) then it seems to me there would be less competition for them. |

I can't get excited about any games anymore, not until the finished product is there before me on the screen.. I am thinking that it may take some new company, one not boxed in by investors looking to make it rich, one willing to take some chances just because they themselves love games, to come out with something worth getting excited about.
Gods and Heroes. wow. Sounded good. Beta was dull. Game dropped and ashes blown away. Age of Conan. Struggling. Not at all what so many of us yearned for.
The list does go on. SO, i read these sites with guarded curiosity.

This company sure thinks up new ways to make money. Pay-per-view? I might pay the price of a movie rental to check it out. Jeeze. |

Age of Conan: Buddy Key Program up and Running

I wouldn't tell anyone not to get the game because I think it can be fun. I would only suggest you take your time getting to level 80. |

I would even join groups to do some of the instances that are already in place. But the players just aren't there. Even daily quests to help make money would be something. Especially as the economy is also depressing. And with fewer people paying, I wonder if crafters will have trouble finding advanced guilds that are needed to make the final level items. My guild has been stuck at tier 3 since so many have quit and there are too few players to recruit new ones. |

Well, initially the servers were so busy with all the people they said they were waiting for stability. Now the servers are so empty because so many have quit. My guild, with it's tier 3 keep, is dying because no one logs on anymore. For awhile yesterday, I was the only person online out of over a hundred members. Even the raids have turned people away from the game. I have 5 buddy keys but don't see the point in handing them out. It is all very depressing. The game certainly had potential but failed miserably. Maybe it will make a come back, but will all the players come back or just wait for the next new MMO in hopes that one gets it right.?. |

Level 80 has been disappointing. The bugs make raiding very irritating. Trying to learn the strats, spend about 3 hours cleaning and killing first boss, almost to second and the whole instance crashes. We go back in and it has all reset, minus the first boss. Has happened more than once. Also a bug where the players of same raid can't get into same instance. Aside from the bugs, what little I have seen so far, the environments looks very dull, no design put into them, nothing cool to look at.

I am currently level 33 and loot is very boring. I haven't picked up anything I can use since early levels. It is all just vendor junk plus sometimes a crafting resource. |

tabula rasa is fun. Not as fun as swg used to be but better graphics. I only stopped playing because I didn't have time. |

Tabula Rasa: State of the Game
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/06/08 4:08:31 PM
I just starting playing the game again after the beta ended. I am having fun. I don't think the quests are too repetitive because from the ones I have played, they all get that way. What I like is the constant action. If it isnt the ships dropping off the Bane to start shooting at me as I go by, it is some kind of alien beast. No place seems safe or serene in this world. I like that. As far as people leaving the game--I don't know. I always see other players wondering around. It isn't SWG pre CU--but I don't think any game will ever compare to that. Another thing I like is the shooter type of action. I like the fact that I need to actually aim and take cover.
So, if you are at all interested in this game, I would say give it a try. |
