DAOC has much better pvp than AION. I love these WoW & Counterstrike kiddies hyping AION too high up there. It's not what everyone says it is that's for SURE.

This is COMPLETE blasphemy, AION pvp is NOTHING like DAOC pvp. If anything, it's nothing but WoW battleground pvp thrown into a LARGER three dimenional battleground (e.g: you can fly for about 180seconds, and in combat).

Don't listen to anyone who says different since they're simply trying to get you to buy something they like, and are willing to say anything. Or, quite simply, didn't play DAOC for more than 3months.

AION = WoW PVP

AION does NOT = DAOC RVR/PVP

NEVER forget this!!

You answered your own question. It's nothing new and a merge of Lineage 2 + WoW. AKA: Crap on a stick.

I'm glad you're having fun with it, truly I am. However, don't expect to change any opinions as the game is NOT innovative nor original.

Torchlight is NOT currently considered an MMO, by the market or otherwise. It's similar to Diablo2 in it's "multiplayer" aspects & abilities.

On a side note: I'd like to meet the person in charge of MMORPG's MMO listings, as they need to take a class on reading & forming a proper opinion on what genre a game really is.

Fileplanet subscriber <$7 for a month> and you get a key + pre-load client.....tis what I've done

Greetings,

Who is your internet service provider? There are some ISPs that conflict with Darkfall's smooth running. You may also try running the Darkfall repair tool located in your start menu > All Programs > Darkfall US > Darkfall US (Repair Data). Also be sure that nothing is modifying your system clock. If your problem persists, please do not hesitate to reply to this ticket for further assistance.

Regards,
Darkfall Support

Apparently they already know that their ISP provider for NA1 is a piece of crap. It'll be interesting to see what they say about this.

What you've said is "in general" normal CS. Until you reply several times that they aren't even talking/on topic. Then once they see it's a real issue (and not some faill idiot posting something that's their own stupidity) they then get personal on the issue.
Something's up with your client or ISP provider for NA1. I constantly get my connection closed when trying to patch more than 50mb at a time with the DF patcher. After patching DF for more than 9hours (i constantly had to baby it by closing the patcher & relogging in to get the download to start again).

Additionally, I constantly get disconnected (lose sync) with NA1 server on a random constant basis. Normally it's when I enter a large city, engage in combat (random from 10minutes to 6hours......more or less it happens in less than an hour) or open my personal bank. I know I'm losing sync when my ping starts going steadily upwards from 100 to 1000ping and keeps climbing. It's a desync because even when my ping says 20,000ms I can still move towards a city (to saftey most of the time) until it hits 90,000ms. When I relog (very painful as well) I find I'm where i ran to when i had to ctrl+alt+del at 90,000ms. This means my movement IS being tracked when I start getting massive packet loss (desyncing).

I've troubleshooted this to death, and reinstalled DF 5 different ways/times now. I've got ZERO firewall between me and darkfall. I've bypassed my gaming router and plugged directly into my cable modem (8Mb cable). I've replaced my modem & contacted my ISP about the issue to no avail. Darkfall is the ONLY MMO or game for that matter that I play (upwards of 6 different games i play online) that has this issue.

Don't tell me it's my ISP, it's not I've checked and tripple checked. Don't tell me it's my router, as I said I've already debunked. Don't tell me it's my Operating System, because I've already tried playing on Vista 64bit (current OS), XP 64bit, and XP 32bit. On EVERY operating system it has this issue.

The best thing I can figure, since most people I play with don't have this issue, is it's your NA1 ISP provider having massive issues communicating with the Easter or South Eastern USA coast. People I play with whom don't have this issue live in north eastern USA, central, west coast, or even canada. You MUST find and resolve this issue IMMEDIATELY, as most of my 9+ friends (who live on the east coast) have quit because of this issue (and it was a bitch to get them to even try the game out).

FIX PLEASE
I realize that I have issues flushing out proper ideas, and keeping on topic (or within frame). So, please forigve me for the idiotic things I did like typing "random constant" lol :D.

Anyways, think I'll get an intelligent response back from a customer support agent, or will I just get "sorry, it's on your end" LOL?

Even though I have a paid account with darkfall, it seems I can't connect or "tie in" my paid account with a forum account. Not only that, but they've disabled public posting. So you HAVE to "somehow" get your forum account activated by a Moderator.

Any idea how to go about doing this? :(

PS: I'm playing on NA1

Doubtful, it might just be an outlook as to how the game itself is boring to play for most? I dunno :D

Every now and then I lose sync with the server. I had this issue with Darkfall's patcher downloading the game. It would randomly close the session with the server and stop the download.

Now, when I'm playing I'll randomly lose sync with the server and can't do anything. Can't put my weapon away, can't loot etc etc. I can't even exit out normally. I have to IMMEDIATELY ctrl+alt+del to keep myself from dieing to mobs I'm currently fighting :(.

Is this normal for NA1 darkfall players? Or, am I having some unforseen issue? :(

ps: I'm posting here because my darkfall forum account won't let me post new threads in their general forum asking for help, and my game account didn't come with a link working forum account :(.

So I preordered from bestbuy.com for in-store pickup.  The problem is that their site says 9/8/2009!!!!???  Also there is no information on how to get the OB code.  Sent a customer service email with no reply.  Should I just pop into the store and ask "what gives"?  Anyone have experience with online preorders?

Thanks in advance

According to the Cryptic site, Best Buy is slated to offer the "Early Start Program".  But, if you go to the Best Buy website or call one of their Service Reps they have no idea what an Early Start Program is.  I'm not even going to get into the whole scenario of entrusting Best Buy to send out your Early Start Program/head start weekend keys in a timely manner.  Nope, not doing it.

Do as page says and get your money back.  Then take that same money to GameStop and pre-order the game with in-store pickup on the 1st of Sept.  Out of all the pre-order retailers, GameStop has their shit together the tightest.

ARE YOU EFFING MENTAL?!?! Gamestop is one of the LEAST game selling companies that have their shit together!!!

The last THREE times I've tried to pre-order with an in-store pickup for PC games, the gamestop i went to EVERY TIME said they'd have it in 3 to 5 days from the day I was told I'd get it. After the third time I promptly told the store assistant manager to F**** off and that i'd never preorder again from gamestop.

Oh, did I forget to mention the in-store local gamestop assistant manager is my sister? Guess not :D

Never ever ask for an in-store pickup, or EVEr pre-order from BestBuy. These are the time tested rules of an online PC gamer. ALWAYS pre-order for home delivery, and ALWAYS do it from two places: Gamestop (ya i know, but the whole issue around them is their brick and mortar service, it's strickly console gamers essentially) Online store ......Amazon.....or Direct Digital Download purchase from the company itself.

>:|

Thanks for proving our point about how bad RMT system is. You just spent $100 in one month on a game to obtain a specific item that you wanted, and yet didn't get it.

LOL, cheaper than P2P my foot....

K

Thx

Byeee

Fun, I can check champions online off my list of games "looking forward to". Now I don't have to waste my money on trying it :D! Unless of course, those "premium in-game items" are simply things like bonus content City of Heroes is doing. Other than that, a big ol'Middle Finger towards CO. :)

Question: When a game has both micro-transactions and an optional subscription fee, is it still considered free to play?

Answer: No. (So stop being a cheapskate and just pay for a sub to a decent game  )

Hope that helps

Ya because not wanting to pay 180 a year and being locked into one game, makes you a cheapskate. Even if you do pay for the game doesnt mean all your friends want to pay for it too.

NEWS FLASH: The average cash shop player spends MORE than $300/year.

Google your information next time before degrading your "mortal standpoint" even further in a community (Real MMO players) that despise the sub-par gameplay F2P induces.

Seriously, I'm starting to believe Richard is getting paid commission per article he writes trying to "Hype" the crappy F2P market. Getting the "word" out won't make us all mindless zombies and play crappy F2P games.

Probably laugh, since AION isn't even good enough to kill DAOC (of which is dieing a slow painful Developer Ignoring death).

AION = Lineage III, you can't ignore it & you can't deny it because that's all anyone will ever see. Get over it, and stop your game humping threads about Aion. Aion = just like WoW in the sense that serious games DON'T CARE about either of these products.

-End of Thread

I have:

#1 80 Necromancer legit-pvp level 3 (TONS of level 5 exploiters running around, reason i left)

#2 80 Necromancer on a second account for leveling alts on main account =P

#3 72 Barbarian

#4 69 Guardian

#5 54 Ranger

Across two accounts^ with some other low lvl toon somewhere i forget. Regardless, the primary problem with DAOC was their free level system, it killed the lower leveling zones making it IMPOSSIBLE for new players to join the normal servers. Some people even think it was intetional.

Again, regardless of how I may feel over the issue. The fact reamins that giving us one instant level 50 won't harm anything other then "you know i've been wanting to roll a Conqueror for some time now.." or something to that affect. If it were roll multiple instant 50s, THEN it'd destroy to lower level content & the MMO's future at all.

I'm stumped as to how people can actually accept these games as MMOs? There is ZERO real map land in any of these mmo's. It's all instanced arenas that have been mocked up to "LOOK" like an mmo. Hell, even the descrptions for most of these games (primarily Huxley Online) EXPLAIN to the common individual that these games are nothing but DOOM with "mmo elements" like character information saves & stat allocation.

Global Agenda's description:

[Taken from their site]

................................................................................................................................................................................................

Global Agenda's unique fusion of shooter-based action, role-playing mechanics, and grand territorial strategy gameplay can make the game difficult to easily pigeonhole into a "classic" game genre. At Hi-Rez Studios, our number one objective is to bring a fresh, insanely fun game to market -- not necessarily to fit neatly into an existing category.

That said, however, the game has a broad set of features that MMO players have grown accustomed to and that are traditionally considered when discussing whether a game is a "true MMO."

These features include:

* Player vs Environment missions with boss fights (instanced, away from the 3d cities...aka: "Waiting rooms")
* Player vs Player missions with different objective types (instanced, away from the 3d cities...aka: "Waiting rooms")
* A large-scale, persistent territory control framework and Campaign (A conquer map, similar to Age of Conan's map system, no REAL connection between "zones" or "instances", it's just an imaginary campaign map)
* Multiple character classes and subclasses
* Character levelling and progression (again, DOOM style gameplay with information being saved between "matches", or "missions")
* Skill trees
* Social Hubs (aka: The 3D "Waiting Rooms" between matches/arena missions)
* Achievements
* Loot with various qualities
* Blueprints and crafting (Think Tabula Rasa Crafting, that's what this is)
* Economy and auction system (Again, think Tabula Rasa)
* Gear upgrades
* Alliances and Agencies (our version of "guilds").
* Grouping systems (for easily teaming with other players for missiosn)
* Character customization and dyes
* Flair and seasonal items
* Alliance/Agency/Group/Side/Team text chat
* Integrated Voice Chat
* Thirty+ different major weapons/devices for each class
* Scores of character emotes
* A "Raid" system that is part of the campaign system that allows coordinated teams of up to 60 persons (working inside up to 6 different strike teams) to simultaneously raid the enemy, working toward a common raid objective. (Raids being the "Larger" combat "arenas" for players to pvp in. Planetside this is NOT)
* Single server-shard per major geographic region -- meaning you can communicate with and compete with/against tens of thousands of other players.
................................................................................................................................................................................................

As I said above, Planetside this is NOT. Don't waste your cash if you're thinking about trying this game because you're seeking another Planetside, you won't find it here.

I don't even think I need to rip Huxley apart, considering most of you have already tried that piece of crap on FilePlanet's "beta" they've been having. Again, I'm not willing to violate the NDA just so an admin can rip this post down, so I'll just say to those whom haven't: IGNORE THE HYPE, think for yourself and goto Huxley's main site & read ALL it's features. Planetside, or even MMO, HUXLEY IS NOT.

Now that we've gotten the first two out of the way, we move on to the rediculously named "CrimeCraft" (I'll leave you to figure out where they stole the name from).

................................................................................................................................................................................................

At the 2009 Game Developer’s Conference, I had the opportunity to sit down with the guys behind the upcoming shooter / MMO, Crime Craft and to get my first look at the game in progress.

Right now the game, which runs on the Unreal 3 Engine, is in the Friends and Family stages of testing, with a launch scheduled for the third quarter of 2009.

For those of you out there who may not be familiar with the premise, Crime Craft melds many conventions of an MMORPG with the fast-paced and skill based action of a third person shooter. The game itself (or at least the prepared demo area of the game), even in these early stages, looks fantastic. As soon as the developers entered into the common area of the game, I was reminded of the dirty / semi-realistic city look of games like Grand Theft Auto.

These common areas are where players can interact with one another, take part in such MMORPG mainstays as banking, in game mail, auction houses, weapon shops, crafting, player housing (gang hideouts), get missions and the like while the real heart of the shoot-em-up style gameplay takes place in online-shooter style instances pitting teams against one another.

................................................................................................................................................................................................

Again, go watch the E3 videos of CrimeCraft, the developers EASILY explain this the same way Huxley & Global Agenda work.

Why do people fall prey to the Hype machine that is generated by these companies? It's obvious, after a couple double-takes, that they merely are "rehashing" the korean style shooters (aka: Gunz Online, etc) in a more interactable enviroment (3D cities, instead of waiting rooms where you can only chat in a 2d interface).

I've asked numerous times for these three games to be removed from MMORPG.com, because quite simply they are NOT MMORPG's.

Thank you,

-Faded

Now THIS is exciting.

The computer gaming industry, and MMOs in particular, seem to lack creative people who can think outside the box and really do something truly different.

Grand Theft Auto was possibly one of the greatest ideas ever. I've played the series since the very first one so I have a lot of hope for this game!

I hope you're being completely sarcastic. You'll see if you ACTUALLY waste money on this piece of turd that it's nothing but an instanced worthless-fest. :(

Guys, this is another instanced shooter that's EXACTLY like HUXLEY & Global Agenda. Both of which, are complete failures in terms of their gameplay. All three, instance the fighting to VERY limited arenas for people to just blast each other apart.

It's sad to say, but it looks like the shooter genre for MMO's isn't here yet :(. Nothing but korean instanced ripoffs (imagine Gunz Online, but with better graphics). :(
