Strangely though Nostradamus also said the earth will end in 3023(not sure on the exact date)...
I don't believe half of the croc. But I did do some research on the whole 2012 scandal. |

The Problems with Beta and how It should be
MMORPG Game Concepts « Developers Corner 12/25/07 11:01:54 PM
Recently I just got accepted to a very anticipated mmorpg beta. Now I'm not going to say which game this was as I'll probably get it revoked. I was so excited I logged into the game as soon as I could and with almost as much excitement as I had getting ready to play was it almost torn out of me known more commonly as a feeling of disappointment. Why? Because I realized what this beta was. The same mmorpg beta that is out there. Having us the players fix the bug's and telling the coders how to fix things.
Now I have to register a complain with the current system. How come beta's currently have the designed purpose of the player base testing the game and making it bug-free? Isn't there well..bug testers who get paid to do that? How come in the beta things aren't introduced into a game to see what the playerbase feels about it? Like a new quest series coming into the game. If the people on the beta server don't like it they change the quest and then release it. Is that so much to ask for?
Recently my buddy and I got in a heated discussion of scifi games and the lack of. We came to the conlcusion the fantasy market is so sought after versus the scifi mmorpg is because it requires almost minimal inventivness. With scifi a person is forced to think outside the box. Like who ever thought of a galactic federation of human starships crossing the universe in search of exploration? Star Trek? Anyone name anything similar to that before star trek? This brings me straight back to the point again though.
Shouldn't beta be used as player testing grounds on systems/content in the game? When the entire player base is crying because the pvp in a game is too hardcore. So what does the game designers do? They make it th easiest thing in the world. When in fact what they should have done from the get-go is ask...What type of pvp system do we want? Do want to draw the hardcore guys in or do we aim for the casual guys? Then when they brought in the pvp system and players are complaining. Don't change it for a different gamer. But bring in more of the gamer type there looking for. Then based of the input adjust the current system.
What is the need with designers to instead of modifying existing problems bring in entire new systems which have there own set of problems all by them self. |

Hellgate London - Titan Quest - WoW = Which is the superior game?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/25/07 3:01:00 PM
Titan Quest is a traditional 3rd person view camera rpg.
Hellgate london is a outside the box type thinking fps trying to capture the rpg element.
Right I'm sure if I finish this bottle of rum. It'll make more sense that they should be put into the same category. LOL I'm not even going to comment on the comparison to wow. |

You know the more and more I look at it. The more and more I'm trying to figure out this problem I'm having. That is how come www.mmorpg.com and www.guildcafe.com don't team up together. Each offers a unique set of features for the players and both are centered towards mmorpg. Granted guild cafe does have fps's and offline options as well but its mainly used for mmorpgs.
So maybe a Big glowy can help me out here. What would it take to get you two to partner up somehow? or help each other out? Like what I mean is Guildcafe has these 3 different quiz's you can take right? They help you figure out your own mmorpg play style as well as your own guild role. They have these pie charts showing game activity and all these nice features. For example look at my profile http://www.guildcafe.com/member/Ebena
Then just look at some of the stuff I've filled. Look at some of the awards I have credited towards my name. Make no mistake I'm not asking for you two to merge but I am wondering how come you two don't link toward each other.
Meh sorry for the rant. This title system kept me thinking about guild cafe. |

If you really want to look at it like then. Just think about the entire forum title system. What makes my idea any different from the current idea used now? You get a title based of a sticky, now how does a thread become a sticky?
Sorry but I just don't see how your logic can apply to me alone here. You should be quoting the original post then and complaining that the system fails like that. But honestly anyone can do that on any forum and there's really no way to stop it. So like my old gym coach used to say. "don't whine if you can't fix it" |

Something like "Einstein" or something.
Although it is a bit hard to separate good ones from bad ones down there. Meh just gonna mull it in my head for a while. Maybe it'll get better thru time. |

Why do all mods play a dictatorship?(MMORPG Games Only)
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/11/07 10:30:05 PM
I have a question and maybe some of you can "enlighten" me on just why it is the way it is. How come when it come's to mmorpg forum's the moderators on those types of games tend to be more possessive and controlling of the posts then usual? I can go on these forums and probaly make the most bullocks post in the world. The mod here would delete the post and the thread would continue. Yet in mmorpg's they never try to edit something out or delete one post. It's GOT to be the entire thread.
I'll take the most infamous mmorpg forums known for mod's and the community alike. SWG. Here on these forums you can get your forum account perma-banned for simply saying the opposing faction you fight in pvp "sucks". Now I could understand how this thread could get deleted as it's inciting trolling, drama, blah blah. But on SWG's forums you get your forum account perma-banned for saying something of the like. This is one of those game's where you are only granted one forum account per subscription as well.
So in a summary I guess I'm simply asking:Why are mmorpg mod's so much more ana...err..."stricter" then most other games. |

General: Reader's Choice Award Voting Begins!
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/07/07 8:16:50 PM
Yeah the choices were WEAK to say the least. Best free to play game choices? There wasn't even a Hellgate:London, Archlord, RF Online, Shadowbane, etc.
Very poor choice organizer. Maybe next year you should have 2 tiers of voting. The first one would be to pick the games that deserve to be the top 10 on each list.
But I still love mmorpg and still love everyone who works here. Your work is always supported. Just don't fire someone for giving a game a bad review!!!(why didn't you report on the gamespot scandal anyways? ahh it's not mmo related). |

Is AoC combat going to be similure to HGL?

Sorry but the saying here goes stupid questions get stupid answers. If you cast judgment about the game when you don't have the slightest clue even about the various systems in the game...well...I'm not gonna correct the ignorance I see here. Figure it out for yourselfs. One simple check on AoC would suffice. But of course that would have been a smarter course and it appears we have already begun on the downhill roll of what is known as stupidity. |

LoL I just had a funny thought. Can you receive damage from falling certain distances? As I was thinking how your avatar can get drunk and all and imagine if you got the bright idea to get drunk with your avatar...Well needless to say I'm sure there would be a few of us who would get the bright idea to climb the roof and jump off! |

what is the max number of races in an MMORPG
Characters, Skills, Etc. « Developers Corner 11/12/07 12:02:19 AM
I think that some companies go overboard with races like 13 different human races or 12 alien races yet the only difference between alien race 1 and alien race 9 is that one stayed out in the water more. Then again though some companies go waay too light and you only have a choice of 3 races and those 3 races are pretty much all the same.
I think what a good set would be is to design 7 SPECIEIS
with 3 races of each species. Sure this would be alot of balancing work to do as well as texturing/coding/etc. But if done right it could attract anyone.
What I mean by species and races are Orc and Human would be two different species. While Orc would have a cave orc(an orc from the northern lands of the hills who have been tough as nails and there lungs are like filtered masks due to the caves they live/work/eat in), a coastal orc(an orc who has learned the mastery of sailing/fishing/ and even swimming, this orc will have improved sailing and swimming speeds along with better fishing skills).
Now I understand the balance issues and the texture issues and how much hell this would cause everyone but if you think about it...If you made each race have it's own unique set's of abilities and/or skills then adding each species have there own specific lore later on in the game. |

A very great News Post. I learned alot from that article even though I thought of myself as well-knolwegable of ccp(with there up and coming vampire mmo. I'm guessing that's one of the reasons of the mass increase in employess).
Overall Thanks for the great read. |

AT-RT's aren't that rare either. I was able to purchase a grand total of 5 of them before I left for a total of a 100 million. This was when 100 million on my server was nothing special. Of course I'm sitting on them atm as last time I heard they've gone up to 30 mil a pop. |
