Of course people are upset that AoC was a bit rushed and a lot of stuff that was promised never made it to release. I just wish people could be a little more mature when raising those concerns.

Well, that's a lie right there. I've seen many, many threads closed or deleted that were honest discussion of the game's flaws, with out immature bantering or inflammatory exposition.

Not a lie, but as the trolls infested those posts the mods had no choice but to either lock or delete it.

For the past 2 nights in a row I have bore witness to 2 different guys come into the General Discussion forum over at the official forums starting threads about how they were in-game banned for violating PvP rules?!?  The first guy 'griefed' another player at a waypoint that attempted to gank him.  Claims he killed the guy 10 times over and then made a profane retort at him when the guy whispered him telling him to stop camping him.  He claimed to get perma-banned for doing this..   Seriously?!?

When people come to the forums to complain about a ban the people reading the thread only get the OP's side of the story. Heck I can get banned then come to the forums and make up a completely one sided story also (that doesn't mean I didn't lie). Secondly, it has been my experience in several MMO's that on the official forums it is a violation of the rules to bring issues about gm actions to the forums. He broke their rules they removed the post. It is quite simple.

Ok, I can see how MAYBE he might have deserved a temporary ban for the profanity..but permanently and without warning?   Yikes!   So he comes into the forum to tell his story and basically get other players' opinions about said GM action.. and 15 minutes later his thread vanishes completely.   He was silenced by a moderator, obviously.  I just shook my head in disbelief.

Griefing players is subject to banning as per the rules, if people would read them and then follow them we wouldn't have these problems. My guess is he has done it before and was warned and did it again and was permanently banned. However, since I wasn't there and neither were any of you none of us can be sure now can we?

I pretty much spent a good chunk of my day and night browsing through the massive churning of disgruntled players after the 7/10 patch was released..poking my opinions in here and there in random threads.  It was somewhat amusing and at the same time..somewhat disturbing that the general discussion forum had become more fun than playing the actual BROKEN game!  Like a trainwreck, I just had to keep periodically looking at the newest complaints and Funcom trashing threads being made.

Please be aware that the vast majority of players play the game and do not visit or post on the forums. Those that do post on the forums are usually disgruntled players. They are usually ones that jump from MMO to MMO and complain in each one of them.

Please do not try to label me a fanboi as I have had an active account with AoC. Unfortunately because of my job transferring me to another location for 3 months I have had to temporarily suspend my account. I do know there are problems with the game but eventually those will be worked out. AoC will be a great game soon.

Well, a little while ago another guy posted that his brother had JUST been banned in-game shortly after arriving in Poitan having recently left Tesso where they were being camped on by a bunch of members of some guild.  Apparently his brother had run into the water at the docks to avoid a guy meleeing him to death and he was attacked while in the water and something glitched giving his brother the ability to attack from within the water.  This was the ONLY thing they can think of that he *could* have been banned for.

Once again you see one side of the story, this is why all the companies that run MMO's that have official forums prohibit the bringing of disciplinary issues to the forums.

I, as well as many other people, expressed shock towards his situation in our reply posts.  We were trying to ask him specifically what had happened..pressing him for more information.  He then updated saying that his brother logged into an alt and put in a petition and his alt was also permanently shortly after placing the petition!  I pressed the 'quote' button and typed out a reply to him and when I pressed 'submit', I was looking at a "you do not have permission to access the forums..login..blah blah" screen.  I pressed back and refreshed the list of threads and sure enough his thread had been deleted by a moderator as well.

Do you all really believe everything you read on the net, seriously?

I had already been quite disturbed by the many disgusting things going on between users and moderators and I really wanted to know what the deal was with that guy's brother being banned but I had neglected to note his user name (otherwise I would have sent him a private message.  I made a thread titled, "to the guy that posted brother's banning" and in the post I typed that it looked as if a moderator silenced him and deleted his thread and I asked again for more information on what happened.  I clicked back..waited a few seconds..refreshed..saw a reply had been made but when I clicked it I got the same message, "you do not have permission to access the forums..login..blah blah".  Ok..wtf.  I clicked back and refreshed again..thread gone!   Wow!  Now I am being abused and silenced?

You are on THEIR forums, you abide by their rules or you lose the right to use those forums. The rules are their for a reason.  I guess your one of those people that think you have the right to free speech anywhere. Do me a favor and go research "Freedom of Speech". I can guarantee you that it does not apply to private organizations.

At this point, I am angry and make one more thread titled, "was it worth it?" and in the post said, "to whichever moderator it is that is abusing their power..you just earned Funcom another 2 cancellations!" This thread was pretty much immediately removed and when I pressed back again it said I was banned for 6 months!   Now, I don't know about the rest of you..but I will NOT be treated like that and I had already meant what I had said in that last post..being already tired of the crap going on with the game.  I made good on my promise and my account is now canceled and my girlfriend's will be canceled tomorrow.

See above.. you acted immaturely and pretty much posted a trolling message, broke the rules and got banned. Act like an adult next time, PM a mod and debate the problem with them in an adult manner.

Suffering the out of memory errors and being virtually ignored was already enough.  Moderator abuse was the icing on the cake!

Do they think it's ok to keep messing the game up more and more..KNOW that people are getting increasingly more angry about it..say next to NOTHING about it and then have the nerve to start locking and deleting threads and posts that contain legitimate gripes?  I have never seen such bad business conducted in my life!  I thought my former employer & Company was bad!  Holy god!  ...Funcom!

I wonder how many other paying customers have been treated this same exact way today?  They are obviously frustrated and taking extreme measures to shut people up.  They need to learn to take some personal accountability for all of the hatred being slung at their company.  The customer service is horrible and the message boards over there speak volumes.

What do the rest of you think about this entire situation?

Oh..and here are the screens I took and put on my desktop so that I am constantly reminded why I will NEVER EVER purchase another Funcom product again!

This post is nothing but a huge whine. I see this in every MMO since UO and the games have survived. If SWG can survive what it went through then AoC will be around for along time.

Remember this for future reference, if you all act like this on WAR's Forums (if they have official forums) or any other website that host forums for that game you will most likely be moderated also. They have rules in place for a reason. If you disobey them they have the right to moderate their forums.

If you have issues with moderators you bring the issue up with the head moderator or the Community Manager via a PM and engage them with your issue in a polite and adult manner. You will find that they are alot more forthcoming if you act maturely.

What mmos are you playing? havent seen this type of action since... well DnL after ppl got sent the CD-RW as "pre-order".

Well let's see... every one of them pretty much. Go read the rules for posting on the forums. They all specify that bringing disciplinary actions by the gms to the forums are against the rules. They do this because players only get one side of the story. By law a company cannot comment publicly on actions taken against it's customers.  Therefore they do not allow discussions on it on their forums.

Alright so we got this one sorted, what about all the other posts with ppl posting about a flaw in game? Does it say as well that ppl cannot discuss the current state of the game on the rules? just wondering.

The ones that do not RANT like a spoiled child and post their concerns in a constructive manner do not get their threads deleted.

I quit just after the NGE hit. I had an Elder Jedi on the Kauri server.  I just got an email from SOE saying I had a free month to play, so I loaded the game up to check it out.

I log in... I'm sitting down near the Warren. I look at my friends list, 0/159 people are online. Not really surprised by this. I pull out my speeder and head for the shuttle port to get my star ships and start re-visiting the galaxy. Right away I notice bugs that were in the game when the NGE went live. Clicking on my speeder made me pull out my lightsaber and try to fight it. Riding my speeder, when attempting to go in a different direction, I instantly go in that direction but the speeder graphic turns slowly, making the speeder look as though its flying backwards and sideways... nothings changed.

I fly to dantooine mining outpost, a pre-nge hub for grouping and grinding. There is one person, an Expert Armorsmith who appears to be afk. I fly to Theed, the pvp hub pre-nge. When I get there, there is one person there. He too was on the trial account, and we had actually interacted a little bit together just before we both quit after the NGE. We conversed a bit about the game and such. I fly to Mos Eisley, a hub for everyone post-NGE. There is no one in the star port, or the town for that matter, and all I find is 3 afk entertainers in the cantina. I then fly to Coronet, where I am surprised to find 2 other people, both afk. This is getting sad.

I attempt to fly to my old guild city and visit my houses, but my city lost its shuttleport(from lack of people I assume) so I must fly close by and speeder there. I get there and it is a ghost town. I revisit the guild hall, where we had meetings every week, and remember the two great battles we had at the steps of our guild hall with 2 of our biggest rival guilds(Some of them my favorite times in the game). I go by old friend's houses, long abandoned and empty. I go to the pvp command center, where my office was located, but it is condemned and I can't get in. I go into my houses. the first two are scattered with items and lockers, a side effect of the house moving operation I had going on, and was never able to finish, when the NGE hit. My  "new " house is partially decorated in a couple rooms with my prized loot items, my first lightsaber, and my first padawan robes.

I open my friends list and start scrolling down the names, all of them offline. I see and am reminded of all of the random people I met and had business with, the enemies I had, and most importantly I see the names I had forgotten, of the many great guys that I would spend hours upon ours on Teamspeak with every day, grinding, fighting, questing, but most of all, laughing, and just having an awesome time. After all of this, I quietly turn my character into a blue ghost, and log off.

This was honestly the most depressing video game related event I have ever had. It was just too sad to see and remember all the great things that once were completely destroyed, lost, or abandoned. Not only was this game about the game mechanics and the awesome systems that were in place, but it was about the community, your guild, and your friends. The NGE managed to remove all of them.

What did I find? I found nothing...

Never fear for *edited* will one day be here.

Seriously check it out.. just google *edited* as I won't link the site here. I think that is against the rules.

I see it is against the rules to post about an emu site project so I have edited out the name.

Once again people like you over hyping games just to be let down once it goes live. I can't wait to see all the whining about WAR once it releases. I am gonna sit back with a beer and just laugh.

As I stated earlier, you will NOT hit that 5GB limit unless your downloading applications, movies. All MMO's that I know of and have played have never made someone reach their limit per month.

I used to have wireless and I also played WoW, SWG and EQ2 and never once ran over my Limit.

The problem is that not many people can fit 900+ mb of space into their computer, unless you have a 1 GB card. What Nexon/Wizet has to do is find a way to "reduce the megabytes". Wizet needs to delete maps, monsters, etc to be able to reduce it. Maple Island has been modified, but nothing has been removed. To reduce the megabytes, I need your help on deciding which maps, monsters, etc will be removed.

I am not sure if your being serious or not.

But for your sake.. I see you mention 1gb card. Are you talking about a video card? If so that has nothing to do with the size of a game.  Your HD (hard drive) is what holds all that information and I have to tell you that we have not had 1gb hard drives in a very long time.

You have nothing to worry about, no mmo has ever transmitted that much in patches (actually no where near it). You will never reach that cap unless your downloading movies, music or applications for your computer.
