It is rather simple to fix, just get a one month subscription to fileplanet to access the high speed servers and there is NO wait. It is only 6.95 for one month.

Heck, I have been a founder member of fileplanet for 6 years and it is well worth it. I have gotten into dozens of betas and the demos and other perks are well worth it.

That is a moronic statement. I was in the mess of a beta for Vanguard and using the same system for that game I couldn't move in Vanguard. I get a steady 30 to 40 fps all the time in the AoC beta client.  AoC has some issues but from the news from the closed beta testers (since the NDA was dropped for the newbie area for both open and closed testers) is that the current build for AoC is WAY better.

I would add another gig of ram and then you should be at the minimum be able to run it on low settings with some set to medium.

Did you get a key for the fileplanet beta? if so you can check it out then.

make sure that you install the activeX program for it to work right and it will tell you if you can run AoC and if you can't what areas you need to upgrade to be able to.

So I proceeded to traverse the internet looking for an answer, and it comes to find out that you have to download the Fileplanet Download Manager for the window to work, not sure why the window would not tell you this in the first place, either way, so I get that done and continued to find a d/l server to join. Upon joining a server, the window comes up, then continues to the download manager.

Well, everytime I tried this, it would sit there for a bit, then just say either Network Error or Download Error. Bah, maybe their servers are still busy. So I waited an hour until ~2:30am and tried again. This time the download manager does indeed start the download of the file, but after about 5 to 10 seconds, it stops then tries to reconnect then displays "Mirror Does not Exist!" Well, is this the most frustrating thing...so I try different servers and other various settings to my browser with no luck. So it is now about 7:30am and I have been awake for almost 18 hours with no sleep and staring at a computer screen so I am pretty grumpy and tired. So I was just about to go to bed and happen to stumble on a way to directly download the file without the download manager. So I follow the instructions and the download would not work on Internet Explorer (some error about the HTTP header invalid or something) so I tried Firefox and without a hitch, it worked.

So by 8:10am I finally had the download running and was glad that I could sleep. So 2:00pm rolls around and I wake up to my download finished! Well, I double click the zip file and get the error (Zip file invalid or corrupted!) You have got to be shitting me! So, mad once again, I looked around for info and found out that if you computer goes into standby while download will most likely cause those files to become corrupted. So I redownload the file, staring at the computer screen again making sure it doesnt go into standby. So now its 7:00pm and the download is finished, well I double click the file and I get the same error...man.

So I figured I would either have to try a torrent with slow downloads or some other method that could be hazardous to my computer. Well, reviewing my options, I thought, "Maybe win zip could not reconize this type of file for some reason." I decided to download win rar (I recently upgraded my computer so I had to reinstall everything and I had not gotten that far yet) and tried it. What do you know, it worked. The zip file opened, zipped them to the desktop, ran the setup and installed without a hitch. Let me tell you something, if anyone out there has had this happen to them, I can sympathize with you.

But just think it through, try things that might work but does not make sense why they do (I have always done this but I think this was mentioned in a magizine earlier this year and is good advice.) Hope you all who did get in will not have the problems I did and I hope this post will help anyone who does have those problems might have insight on how to get your download to go without as much trouble I did.

Next time please use PARAGRAPHS, they are free to use and will not give people a headache. I tried my best to break it into paragraphs but your run on sentence structure made it difficult.

Yes, and i was pissed too when it happened, and yeah i woudnt mind seeing pre NGE crap swg back, but i also accept reality that its NEVER going to happen, so crying about it years after it happened is totally pointless and waste of time.

And this stupidity about blaming SOE alone has gone too long, if you do some research you will find out LucasArts was atleast 50% as guilty about it than SOE was.

And if you get so freaked over due game, even if good game that was actually different from usual crap until they tried to turn it to new wow, you seriously need to think your priorities again.

But I would guess that the PvE realm would have no open pvp and their would be certain zones for pvp.

PvP realms would virtually be all PvP except for beginner zones so newbies are not ganked over and over

I was a closed beta tester for SWG and then a full time player for the first two years until the fiasco known as the CU and then the bigger fiasco known as the NGE. I immediately canceled both my accounts once the NGE hit.

OP that was hilarious and was spot on to what could be described as the day 200,000 vets screamed out in horror and were suddenly silenced (well till we started posting on forums around the internet).

No, there will be PvE also. Any MMO game that didn't have a PvE realm would fail. Simply put a game relying totally on nothing but PvP would not have enough subs to sustain further development.

Looks as if we are tied at 8 for each PvP and PvE. But only 16 votes.

As others have stated only Forum members are invited to sign up for the Closed Beta and that is only a consideration to get into the Closed Beta. Khatie posted that right now they are only in a closed friends and family part of the closed beta and the normal closed beta will not begin for another couple months.

 

The only way you would have gotten that beta signup link would be if you had a registered forum account.

On the Stargate Worlds forum Khatie has stated that Closed Beta selection will begin WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS.  The last time Khatie said something would happen within a couple of weeks it happened within ONE week.  Anyone over 18 who registers on the forum has a chance at getting in.

Ummm, you need to search further. While they may make the selections the closed beta will probably be another couple months off

What is to out click? Get Comrade, install it and follow the directions to set it up.. I got notified and went straight to the page and got my key. There was no outclicking anyone.
