Only two MMORPGs actually scared me; EverQuest and World of WarCraft. EverQuest: I played back in 1999, I remember just starting out as a High Elf Magician. Veterans of this game would know there was no "personal torch", night GREATLY hindered your vision range and High Elves had horrible night vision (did not know about conjure light-source at this time). I remember just training in Greater Faydark and night was approaching, I wasn't paying attention. It gets DARK, and being a low-level, any aggressive mob would want a piece of me. Trying to find the path and run back to Felwithe, I remember just hearing noises around me and finding out I was being chased by wolves. It was terrifying but the greatest experience I've had. World of WarCraft: Back before Burning Crusade, I was a Human Priest just leveling. When I was leveling in Westfall, I saw a bridge that connected to the other side of the river. Curiosity got the best of me and I decided to cross it. Soon the atmosphere grew dim and dusk, there was a thick fog. I was following the path and on the left was an abandoned outpost and a huge graveyard. Ignoring, I continued on the path. Then suddenly in red text I read what the Town Crier had broadcasted. I was never more scared, I was frantic and sporadically checked the rear. Eventually I did see the hulk and I headed off the trail and into a house to hide, only then to find a banshee was already inhabiting the home... |

Who Will Actually Play this game? Lv. 43 Lancer Tera Review

@Boreil The entire purpose of MMORPGs is to network with other players and as you have wrote, soloing really does cause MMOs to take a large step back. The entire purpose is to work together with multiple people, the entire purpose to even make an online game. Why play an online game when all you want to do is solo and work for self-benefits? The purpose we go on these raids or dungeons is to improve our OWN selves, our greed and selfishness cause us to diverge away from working together. I really hope to see more teamwork! |

Final Fantasy XIV: Any Better a Year Later?
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/27/11 2:59:12 PM
Doesn't change the fact the game was still crap compared to other MMOs. I am not talking mainstream like WoW; even some of the vast Korean MMOs outshine FFXIV. |

SMITE: PAX – The Game Teaches Us to Love the MOBA
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/16/11 9:24:52 AM
Agreed. I did not know what "MOBA" stood for until I started reading this. I have seen the (very stupid) acronym in StarCraft II a lot and referenced in some conversations. Well, now I wish I did not know. It is a horrible, horrible genre to categorize a game. |

Grouping before level 90 a must but not an option.
Game Suggestions « Everquest II 5/03/11 8:17:49 PM
As for any game, its always more fun and interesting to play with other people. I started playing EQ2 for the first time last week and kind of sad that the servers keep going down. This is the third time during my entire experience it has gone down. I do not blame SOE, the whole fiasco with the security breach would cause anyone to go willy-nilly. This game is solo friendly to an extent and grouping is definitely one of the highlights of this game. I did not start on a PvP server, so I have no idea how the ganking is. If it is as bad as you described you, then I'll take your word on it. PvP does not sound like something I would enjoy (especially playing for the first time) unless I knew people on that server. I had my fair share of WoW-PVP servers, that was fun until all the classes became identical. |

Too bad the publisher is a known money hungry figure in the gaming industry, you cannot craft anything without paying cash. Not as bad as FlyFF though . . . |

Froglok is the best race of EQ, really silly that they are first on this list. This list also seemed to have hit the more mainstream games, two from WoW, really? |

Anyone else prefer lower populated servers?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/20/10 8:57:36 AM
Believe me, you aren't the only one who appreciates their personal space. It is not that I do not like to socialize or work together with random people, I just hate imbecilic conversations I read in a "world" type of chat and from random under aged players. It is just annoying to read the typical and overly used internet 'memes'. If anything, reading chat is enough to burn the living daylights out of me. I really, REALLY, hate foolish talk that relates nothing about the game itself. I honestly could rant all-day over this manner. Anyways, that would be a reason to why I typically choose low-populated servers and/or channels. |

General: Land of Chaos: GDC 2010 Preview
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/12/10 7:37:18 AM
I have certainly been anticipating this game for a while now. I love DotA, and I have been playing HoN non-stop. This is indeed a third-person perspective of an AoS (Aeon of Strife) type of game. The only thing is, I really wished this was not going to be published by Alaplaya; more by someone international instead. The reason why I never bothered to try S4League even though I wanted to. I would honestly say, the music sparked an interest. |

"The zone chat is a never-ending swarm of Warcraft conversation . . ." Overall, If the airship battles are how they describe it, then this is very team oriented. I am really looking forward to this. The major mechanic, I just hope they remove... I hope they add chat-bubbles nothing serious, but it is hard to pay attention to the chatbox with Zone chat flooding. |

That was kind of a low-blow don't you think? Though WoW mounts may have not been innovative, some of the models and ideas were neat. My favorite is the mechanical ostriches. Returning to this thread; my personal favorite were the bears in Carpe Diem, those were cool mounts. |

General Discussion « Turf Battles 12/07/09 12:25:23 PM
Personally, graphics in games do not appeal to me as much as the content, game-play and what it has in-store. I would be more than glad to try out Turf Battles. If what you say is true, then this game could be a predecessor to RYL (Risk Your Life). |
