Avoid the mess known as 2Moons and other "Acclaim" MORPG.
General Discussion « 2Moons 10/13/08 8:16:44 PM
I am sorry to say that I used to play this game also, I made it to about level 64. Things got busy for me and I couldn't play for a few months. Yeah the game has problems but it was free...I also bought items from the shop. Thinking about the 20$ or so of stored items made me reconsider playing last week-I downloaded the game and tried to log in. Guess what? Yep, no characters and no items and the reply I got from support indicated i need to send a screenshot of my character.... Like I saved a screenie when I moved to another school and got a new system to work and play on. I am wondering what paypal thinks about this? I feel I have been CHEATED amd I am annoyed. -------------------------------------------------------------------Dear Player, Thank you for contacting Acclaim Games. We are extremely sorry for the delay in sending this mail as there was a huge mail flow. We would want some more information about your account so that we could retrieve your character. We know that you may have sent your user ID, character name and other information in your previous mail; however please mention it again inthis mail. The following information is a must so that we could return your character:- 1) Character name (in case sensitive) 2) User ID 3) Server name 4) Class of character (Knight or Hunter,...etc.) 5) Character leve l6) A screenshot of the character |

Pro's and con's of game from an experienced player.

I think the "beta" deal is the best way to deal with having a crappy game. Public relations and Propaganda go hand in hand. Personally , I had issues with the bots as well as the lag, DC and lack of gaming depth. Yes, I played till I couldnt take it any more then got nostalgic last week and discovered my account had the characters deleted. Support? The poorest joke of them all. I know, I know F2P but having played this game and suffered I would advise players to get a better game. |

Well, good luck getting your account back. Most games have a fairly simple way to restablish an account- account name and email, or in some cases a mailed in notarized proof of ID. If you play 2 moons you have to provide a screen shot, character name and level as well as account name and email to get your character restored. (Yes, mine totally vanished and I can still log in with my name and password.) What student keeps a screenie of every online game they played months ago?

The game has serious issues- there are no doubts about that. .. ..Fanboi and 2 moon insiders feed forums with disinformation to try and encourage players to come to it. !: Bots. Yep, they have them in spades.
2: They lose accounts and require more information to replace them than any company in MMORPG history. You have account name and password? Not enough info. You have the correct email address? Nope, you also need a screen shot of the character and other stuff....They do not bother with little things like a photo copy of your ID or anything like a notarized ID proof... 3: Did you use paypal to buy the items that make the game more playable? See # 2...
Support is not good, the game DOES lag, getting DC even on gaming machines happens and Bots all add up to, "Why bother?" Engrish is heard a lot and really odd behaviors are not unusual, odd as in borderline mental from fringe players who may be hairy fat belly men drinking a beer while leering at a toon wearing a bikini. Oh yeah, 2Moon offers a bikini upgrade for female characters...think about that a bit. As far as vilolent toons go, I put this one way down on the ladder. For a kid trying to getinto MMORPG this is a good place to start but I would reconsider enetering any financial information. |

I played LOM since closed beta in 1999, then another closed beta, then another. I also paid to play, the game has a lot of fun in it.
The game is full of potential but after the LOM 2 GM scandal and the LOM 3 false starts, the US version was totally mishandled by the people managing it. NOT paying the developers is a good way to NOT HAVE updates and further delvelopment. IMHO the US version was just shy of being a (second , wait make that a third rate) Private server.
Watching the US version close down made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Blaming the developer is like owning a Dodge ram which you don't maintain and drive the wheels off then complaining about American auto makers. The drop rates were horrible, the game play unbalanced and cheaters were not just ignored but according to reliable sources (remember I am personal friends of some of those who were associated in the LOM 2 scandal) aided by accountable people. I played two other legal versions of LOM 3 and they were managed professionally and were truly fun. When a select few decide to manipulate a game to their own advantage nothing good comes of it. true the game was a bit dated as far as more modern games go but it was a game many enjoyed and indeed still do...somewhere... LOM USA you are not missed by true fans of LOM 3.
Too bad someone cannot offer a 1000$ bounty for the crooked GMs in the USA version. |

I agree that the game is "open beta" but pointing out the issues is simply good player reportng, or at least - it should be.
At level 50 I decided it was time to make my personal observations on the state of the beta.
The good news is that the VGM's are now going after grief players and banning them or otherwise inflicting punishment. One GM told me in game that the best way to do screenies is to use a second party program as F 12 is not very high quality. A simple fix for the open PK system will be to have a "select PK option" or perhaps a longer red name period...Some complaints are coming in about PKr's being in prison longer than just an hour or two so perhaps the PK system will eventually reduce grief play. I get PK attacked FAR more than I get invited to open dueling.
Gold sellers have their own guild now and it is still there as of last night. Yeah, goldseller.com or some crap is their guild name.
The DC help page on the forum is now at 10 pages, as many realize, most players seldom post on the official forums so that is quite a lot. |

No, the game will not play for me at all, I am staying with EQ 2 for a while. The support letter suggested I ask on the community forum for help and that have offed zero solutions.
All of my support tickets were closed quickly with no help, just a comment that the problems were being looked into. I really loved open beta. |

Looking at 2 Moons is like going to a car show and seeing an amazing and futuristic car sitting there all sleek and shiny then opening the hood ....................and there is a 1968 VW engine.

The game has severe lag issues, botting and gold sellers. It is geared towards PK and has what can be described as the worse PK system I ever saw in a game. The penalties are short and the only reward is to feel you lorded it over a noobie. Anyone can be killed at any time and that can be inconvenient when you spend 20 minutes getting to an area just to have people shouting at you in a diverse set of languages ranging from Latotian, Korean, Czech, distorted 'ghetto' english and what we thought was a dialect from a pacific island tribe. Gold sellers have infested the game also. if you do a simple calculation it would appear that several hundred players try the game and leave after being repeatedly PK'd by high levels. Change maps? Sure and in a couple of hours (or minutes) the PK cycle begins. Only level 20 and the attacker is 5 players over 40? Too bad nub. There is no logic to the PK system and many PK'rs have indicated that killing the same people over and over is simply GOOD game play. There are no GM punishments for stalking someone and killing them over and over, either. Some classes can successfully PK at will and even at nearly lvl 50 a decently equipped player cannot even LIFT a finger to them. One class dominates the PK field and selects easy targets frequently. AFK leveling has been happening for some time and the players who do that are among the top level names.
Apparently targeting certain PK players is impossible and I mean EVER, you cannot touch them. Looks like an exploit to me...yeah I am talking about a level 48 or 50 player being killed by a level 35. Good gosh!
The game has a Massive balance problem and zero story line. The quests are often bugged and sometimes using skill points has no effect other than to waste the points. Thats also annoying. So if you have a lot of cash to spend on items duped or on gold harvested by Bot and like to PK just for fun or to die every few hours randomly and run back OVER and OVER then this is the game for you! I personally advise waiting until the GMs and designers fine tune this lagfest and fix some of the many exploits and bugs. It looks great and has logical controls, the lack of GM intervention in problem players and exploits simply ruins what shows great promise. I predict the game either gets fixed or goes the way of the other un-original grind fests. Did I mention the community? What community? We see a bunch of very immature players every day who obviously have the intelligence of a bacteria ridden doughnut. Yes we joined a guild and actually played together with 2 people at one time. Not bad for a guild of 20 people. Right. guilds of more than 5 players are rare in many maps and when you see them if you are alone run off because they are likely to gang up on you. Have fun running back and changing maps because there are plenty more hostile idiots out to have fun at YOUR expense. Wahoo! This game makes other games seem better in some ways, good quests, different appearances, selecting gender, various items and crafting. PK has it's place in a game but a total free for all may not be everyone's idea of a MMO game. Maybe you can imagine your a honest player and happen to get killed every few hours (or less) while little brown streaked shorts billy and jane dance on your body... Since open beta I have seen so many players hit 40 or so and walk off. This is like legend of mir on crack. |

Dude it is not the "exact same problem", as we never attempted to download a hack. try re-reading my posts maybe? For those denying the game has issues with lag and DC have a look- here is a cut and paste from a recent SOTNW support forum: Hello Everyone,
Over the weekend we received multiple reports of lag, and disconnection issues on the Sword servers. I would like to as anyone who is currently experiencing this to please post a trace route to the server they play on. The IP address of the server can be located by opening the serverlist.xml file. The steps to issue a trace route are as follows. Click Start, Click Run, In the area provided please type "command", Click Ok, Now type the following "tracert xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" This will begin the trace of your internet connection to ours, after this is done copy this information and post it on this thread. This information will help us pin-point the problem. If anyone has any questions about this process feel free to ask, but please keep this thread on topic of lag.

apparently at least one of the official download links lead to a site that had a trojan, I checked and it was back to normal. Yeah it smashed our data on the drive attacking silkroad and other files...re-format was the only real fix I trusted. |

What many players do is go semi -afk and mass kill at easier spawn locations. Boring ,but they slowly get very strong. I wish it was not possible to see them do this. Whats the point in doing that that?
Oh to sell items and gold to foolish kids wanting to be strong. Spam for such sales was a real issue recently. |

SOTNW hits rock bottom for many players
General Discussion « Sword of the New World 7/28/07 4:40:26 PM
The download we did was from the MAIN webpage at sword of the new world. We use firefox and the link was on the main site. I saw more than one other person posting on the web that got the trojan from the game exe OR from the webpage it was on.
It is possible someone hacked the website or hijacked that particular link, I donno.
The game is running better now, EXCEPT FOR THE LAG- the trojan file is no longer posted; we re-downloaded from another site and it still is not showing version 2.2.2 When asked about the response is nil.
Support ticket requests gets a spam type reply saying ...."ask on the forum."
yet the lag remains. Open Beta was pretty smooth....great fun while it lasted. as far as lag goes read the forum posts. http://forum.swordofthenewworld.com/index.php?s=f397a092d165e419eea42781e8ecec38&showforum=32
There are issues.
We paid a small fortune for an exellent video card, DSL and also had a tech service our newer PC. The game needs some TLC .
Why the game seems to work for some players and not others is (probably) related to issues such as location and what map they are on. I suspect the servers are antiques or bargain basement dells and that the game is ran by a couple of college kids in their basment.
If the game REALLY rocked wouldn't there be massive support? I don't mean a few quick posts on MMORPG but across the web game sites...if that happens I assume it will mean the game is finally happening.
Hmm and by the way the most recent post when you load the game clearly says the issues with log in are now fixed. Yeah there are issues. That is just 1 of several. |

It turns out that one of the official links for the GE download had a trojan in it and we had to reformat out hard drive today. YES RE_FORMATTED Bleh~
The trojan destroyed several online games on our drive and infected the system restore as well as key components. That link is now repaired but...the game is still lagging for many players.
When I say many I mean more than just one or two. The lag is serious for those who get it, it depends on how near a botter you are, how crowded the server is and the phase of the moon i would guess.
How the game could sink so fast is beyond me. |

General Discussion « Sword of the New World 7/22/07 10:00:29 PM
on the first week of july the game ran smoothly, very nice. Then they implemented the pay patch (friday the 13th no less) and all heck broke loose for us.
I logged off the game and shut the computer off on the 5th of July to train for a new job. I logged back on friday the 13th and paid the fee and opened the game to play. I still cannot maintain connection, lag from a few seconds to several minutes and there is no end in sight. We re-down loaded , ran scans, defragged, altered the firewalls, changed settings and virus programs. We double checked all video drivers, windows components and contacted our ISP who has spent hours testing our connection. Dudes, It is the Game EXE (including the security scanner) that is the issue for many players.
The game refuses to run more than a few minutes, files for other games were corrupted and the initial rush of the game rapidly vanished as "support" made promises to find a fix for the Xtrap errors .etc. Letters to support went unanswered and posts in the forum are being deleted or ignored. FanBois pump the game as hundreds of players leave after mass frustration. I have never seen a game go live with such poor support and massive problems unless you consider Legend Of Mir....If support gets it together and the game patches correctly and changing maps actually works, I will be happy to change this review. A Google search will reveal the number of very unsatisfied players.
Why the game worked so well in open beta and so dismally in P2P is a mystery! Two of the official game download sites gave us a trojan, one was a password stealer that easily fit itself into our SilkRoad files...yep.
Links on the forum to fix the Xtrap crap attempted to install another trojan. The links were posted by fans but remained for days. 9 days after reporting our trouble on the forum we are still nowhere near connecting effectivly and have had to delete 3 games from the hard drive and are about to re-format the disk. This game has enough problems to qualify for welfare. sad to say as much fun as open beta was for us here, I have to advise anyone willing to lay out cash to be certain the game actually installs and runs. Botting has probably ruined this game before it even got a good foot hold and the servers were massivly unstable since the 13th of July. Yes, I praised the game on the forum here but now I must warn you to consider what is really up with the game for many players. |

I was prepared to dislike the game and was ready to delete the file after a few levels. Ha! I am now closing in on lvl 30 and still having a great time! The auto attack allows me time to do some keying in of spells, attacks and buffs. It takes practice to run the controls but this is the only point and click game I ever forgave for having that system. It actually makes the game work right. I find myself thinking about what I am doing instead of yawning as I wack a bad guy over the head , day after day. Now I am buffing, attacking and using magic all in the same window. If you play ONE character poorly forget trying to Master 3!
This is the game for those who love a challange. I would label this game Pumped up like the terminator on Crack! |
