/agree 1. they should have changed what dropped the discs so the people in beta couldnt powerlevel and then control the disc sites as well as cherry pick the best city locations. 2. You level too fast and didnt have enough time to make friends in game to group and guild up with. If you didnt come into the game with a guild or a solid group of friends you were at the mercy of those who raced to 50 so they could kill all the unguilded 20's. 4. While the ui was pretty configurable the icons were too damn small and i dont remember having the ability to hot key various spells or attacks. 5. Having to move via mouseclick ugh 6. Lag and rubberbanding were there wasnt even anyone around. 7. wonderful sb.exe I imagine if you can ignore all that and everything else that sucked it might not have been too bad. |

Some of the huge DDO Fanboys are leaving now
The Rusty Nail (General) « D&D Online 7/18/06 2:25:01 PM
Well i think that may be going too far :). Games, campaigns, sessions, etc. vary from differnt players with different interests. Ive gamed with skilled players and dm's in all kinds of settings. Some dm's use existing worlds/adventures,some modify existing, some create their own, and some do a little of all three. |

Some of the huge DDO Fanboys are leaving now

Couldnt read the link because im not a ddo subscriber anymore but i cant see how that game could have any fanbois. I mean even if you had 5 real life friends to play the game with, you run out of missions quick and then it just becomes run the same missions over and over. I enjoyed the first time running a mission but after that its just boring. Add forced grouping and all too often you end up in a group that has done the mission before even if you havent and just runs it as fast as they can killing the only interesting part of the game lol. |

Surprised at the similarities....

Well didnt play eq2 past the trial period and its been since the $oe announcement that i last saw vanguard but the two struck me as very similar in both look and feel. No idea what eq2 looks or feels like now but i would imagine vanguard changing alot by release in regards to feel. |

Slashdot: Vanguard Beta In Trouble
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 7/13/06 12:34:04 PM
Well i think the latest release estimate is jan-mar 07. That should give them time to fix/enhance the game to an "entertaining" state. I think alot depends on how far they are willing to tweak all the major mechanics because they do need major tweaks.

Is this game carebear? just curious.

Thats because most people dont enjoy it and most companies want to make money not lose it. "Hardcore" pvp games/servers only interest a very minimal population, not enough money in it to make it attarctive for a company to do. |

Brad McQuaid - Today's Tom Sawyer

What is really scary is that all the recent spin and statements concerning vg from brad sound exactly like the lies smed and moorgard were spreading before eq2 released.

Soloablility is a nice addition but the game has so many other issues that atm it just isnt enough. As long as the game is 100% instanced, there is no explorable land, and there is no randomness to quests, its just a waste of time.
