NavyField is a fun game. It takes some getting used to but it is fun. I played for awhile but got bored. It hard as a new player because you have to start out with a small ship that has small guns and very short range and most of the players have huge battleships that will sink you with 2 shots before you can even see them. So make sure you pick the rooms that lower lvls in them. Like I said it is fun and it is a good time waster for a month or so |

That is bad design if the game cannot handle 500 people in one spot. |

I saw this game at best buy and almost picked it up. I am a MMo vet. Been playing since 1999 with EQ1. I just resigned up WoW out of bordom. Anyway is this game worth it? It seems like fun. I am not sure about running 3 char at once but I guess that is something you get used to? a couple of questions? 1. Am I able to play only 1 char at a time or do you need to have 3? 2. Can I only play 1 char and have the other 2 on auto? 3. How is questing and crafting? 4. anything else you want to put based on your SotNW game time. Thanks Tdog |

More then likly I am going to be playing Chaos. One thing though, all you people that say that more people played Horde then Allanice in WoW are on crack. Allanice has more people then horde on most of the servers I played on ( PvP server ) |

Well I am intersted in seeing what happens to WoW's Subscribers numbers once WAR and AoC hit the market as well as Gods and Heros. I think that will make a nice dent in WoW, but I dont think it will kill them. Even if half leave WoW, they are still going to be fine. Think about it. WAR beta sign ups hit 200,000. I will say WAR will top out at around 2 million. AoC might hit 1 million and Gods and Heros will hit 500,000 to 700,000. And those will come from all the current games out their not just WoW. I am not a Huge WoW fan, I just started playing WoW again because a bunch of us at work game together and we picked WoW as our game for now. I liked EQ1 way way more then I like WoW for many different reasons and yes one of the reason is that EQ1 was my first MMO. Get used to it people, WoW is going to be around for many many more years. They have a very smart team of developers and they have unlimited funds now that WoW is this huge. (8,000,000 x $14.99 = alot of money) WoW set the standard for MMO's and parts of it will be used in most of the so called Next Gen MMO's. Its a fact of life. WoW is like Windows, love it or hate it, it is here to stay. just my 2cents, not that its worth anything |

What was the best Necromancer Class?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/05/07 1:09:01 PM
Originally posted by judgebeo Well first off, I am not sure you know how to read, because it says right next to my comment that "it could just be me" and based on the answers from others on this thread, it seems I did not play my Necro correctly in GW, fair enough because I only played to lvl 16 and got bored of the game. Everquest 1 necromancers are what I see as the best Necromancer class and I compair all other Necromancer classes to that version of the class. That is why I did not like the GW necro. |

What was the best Necromancer Class?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/05/07 11:39:16 AM
What does the MMORPG community think the best Necromancer class to date is? I love my EQ1 Necro (a bit on the overpowered side) Vanguard Necro was okay, not great but worth playing Hated EQ2 necro, just dont like how the class played Guild Wars Necro was a fun class but I though it was underpowered (could just be me) Diablo 2 - One of the best done Necro Class ever. 2nd only to EQ1 (I am bais, EQ1 introducted me to the Necro class). So I want to know what you guys think is the best Necromancer class or what you guys think makes a good Necromancer class. Want I like in a Necromancer class Lifetaps - DoTs (damage over time) - FD (feign Death) - Forms - Dead Pets - command over death (charming undead, spells vs Undead). Very Basic I know but I guess it doesnt take much for me to love the Necromancer, just need a few key things.

A Good Gamer can do well in any game, its all basicly the same once you get used to game style of play. I bet alot of the Top WoW players came from another MMO before WoW, I bet most are from EQ1 honestly. DAoC players may have a step on the non DAoC players for a short amount of time because they know what to expect in a RvR game. I never played DAoC or OU, but I played EQ1 and WoW. I bet I will be a higher rank then you 6 months into the game, both in PvP and PvE, not because I played any other MMO, but because I am a good Gamer You sound very stupied saying that just because WoW was easy that they will no do well in WAR. You lay your DAoC page as the trump card and I will smack down my EQ1 profile and own you all. Thanks come again. |

Listen up if you're thinking about playing Vanquard
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 7/03/07 11:02:24 AM
I played Vanguard for 3 months after released, I reached lvl 39 with my Necro. The game was allot of fun, it had a lot of issues, Crafting and Diplomacy blow all other MMO's to date out of the water. The higher end content does not match the lower end. The lower end has some awesome quests lines but as I reached 37 - 39 their were fewer and fewer quests lines and more and more single quests. (I don't know if that changed but it might have). I am camped out near the Minotaur temple were I could solo with easy. Vanguard has so much potential it is scary, The development team just didn't finish the game. That is my take on it, they simple ran into a wall and could not go any further. Vanguard could have and I guess it still could be one of the greatest MMO's on the market. (although I think it passed that exit away back). Diplomacy had the potential to become huge if implemented correctly, Just image you are all set to raid a castle with your guild mates, all 30 of you ready to go, then the castle army shows it self, it is massive, four times the size of your raiding party. Now what? Do you attack and hope you can win? or do you send in your best Diplomat's to talk it over. So now you send in your 3 best diplomat's to talk to 3 of the castle garrisons diplomat's. Each one of your three guild mates must win their parlay to be allowed to enter the castle without a fight.. But wait, one of your players fails and the now the Army is charging out of the gates right into you. See now that would be fun, that is how Diplomacy should have been used. (sorry I have an over active imagination and I love to use it). Anyway, Vanguard is a solid game, I played it for 3 months and I had allot of fun, now I don't play it because, I enjoy doing raids and their was no content for raids when I left. If you enjoy a massive world with endless lore and endless quest lines that put in you the storyline Vanguard will be a good game, but if you are like me and enjoy massive raid events, then Vanguard will be a let down. You should only listen to yourself when deciding to play an MMO, only you know if you will like a game, nobody can know you better then yourself. HI, I am 25, Live in Michigan. I have been working in the IT field for 7 years. I want to learn what it takes to become a game designer. I am a hardcore gamer with a lot of MMO and first person shooter exp. I would like a chance to be part of a any kind of game development process. I wish to learn game programming language. I don't have much programming experience but I am willing to put in the effort to learn. I am planning on teaching myself some of the languages and I work with a couple good programmers that are willing to help me with VB programming. I am a great story writer and I can develop good quest lines. I have written allot of Role-playing background stories. I can help with the creative part of the project. I.E. create storyline, NPC stories and quests. I don't expect to get paid but I do expect to get credit for the idea's that maybe come part of your project. I am currently working full time but would be able to work on the project around my work hours. I have many ideas for games, I know that many people do as well and that does not set me apart from the crowd but I know that once we start talking you will be surprise by the in-depth knowledge of my idea's. Please don't post if you are going to flame me or be negative. Please post or PM me if you are willing to take on a trainee for your project. The way I figure it you have to start some where and here is as good as any. Thank You for your Tony |

Here's what some MMO players want...
MMORPG Game Concepts « Developers Corner 6/29/07 11:48:02 AM
1. PvP. - PvP needs to be in any game, it is much harder to kill something that a person is controlling vs something that a computer is controlling. Ganking is always going to be a problem but Ganking can also be solved by a good community. A good community will flag the gankers and cause them alot of hardships. It comes down to the community of a game. If they want to stop people from ganking, they need to step up and stop it. Dont whine about it, do something about it. Example of Player A has been flagged as a ganker in the community, then the community no longer sells or trades with this player, does not group with him, does not allow him to advance, he is now KoS to all players in that community. 2. Yes RvR. - RvR is great if their are goals that must be accomplished, but at the sametime is must evolve. If your goal is to take a castle stronghold and you are successful then it should allow that Realm to become very powerful. Example you take over the goal of a RvR battle. now that RvR battle is moved further into the realm that lost...If the one realm keeps winning they should be able to take over the world.. the other Realms will need to find hidden bases to lauch attacks and start making allies with the other Realms. It should effect the whole world not just the zone/area the battles are in. 3. NO LEVELS. - I dont know, Skill based games are fun but how are you going to be able to judge a Vet player from a noob player? Lets say you want to get a bunch of Vets to go kill this Dragon in this cave system and you need to make sure that your group has certain skills and spells. How are you going to tell if that player has them? Not everyone is honest when asked. So now you have a group ready to go but one of your group memebers doesnt have the skills/spells he needs to help with the killing of the dragon. Now you have to start all over and hope you find honest people. Again that all comes back to Community. 4. NO FORCED GROUPING. - I agree 100% that every MMO should have solo content but someone that solo's and never groups should not get the same benefits that someone that groups all the time. A solo person should get equipment and weapons that help with solo content but they should be limited in getting highend items. How fair is it that a group goes in and defeats a high lvl mob and gets great loot, then to watch a solo player come in and kill the same high lvl mob and get the same great item? Its not. I know life is not fair but you need to have certain areas and events that require a group. If their is no reason to group at all then why would you group? Why would you even bother joining a guild if you can get everything solo? You could even socialize without a guild still. Again Forced grouping is something that has to be in a game or you defeat the reason to join forces. 5. NO RAIDING. - This is just stupied. How can you have a MMo and not have raiding? What would be the point? I love raiding not for loot but for the challege. The things I remember most about the MMO's I played were the raid kills. I could careless about if I get loot or not, the fact that it took 30 people to down that dragon is the fun part... We all had to work together, be on the same page to win, if even one person screwed up or decided not to bring their A game, we lose, that is a great feeling..... Its like saying Winning in sports that require team work is worthless unless you get a cool trophy. Winning an event is a reward not the loot you get. the Loot is an extra bonus nothing more and nothing less 6. CRAFTING. - I am not a huge crafter but I think that all items in the game should come from crafting or be upgrading though crafting. Example. We go out and kill uber dragon 15 and it drops super weapon of death 87, the weapon is nice but it is not worth using because it only has damage on it, but now you take that weapon to the local crafter and they can make it into the badass weapon it can be by using stuff that is looted while out killing. Basicly any item that is dropped in the game can only reach its maxium stats if a crafter gets involved. The epic weapons and Armor are all constructed with the help of Crafters, the better the crafter the better the item.. Some items can be upgraded more then once, some items take alot of time to upgrade but become the best items in the game. 7. CLASS BALANCE. - Class Balance is worthless because not everyone will be happy EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. If you pick a Warrior because you want to be able to duel wield and tank then cool, but dont complain that the local Pally can stun a mob but cannot duel wield..... A pally and a Warrior should be interchangeable in groups, same with casters and healers. I think that ever class should have their nich and bring something new to the Table. I dont think that all the class should be the same. I think if you invite say a Wizard into the group, then you should expect high Direct damage but if you invite a Necromancer to the group, then you should expect high damage over time. Both do good damage but which one will help yoru group? Both of them because they are both damage dealers but they do damage in different ways.... If a Wizard does more damage then a Necromancer but the Necromancer can drain Life and magic and share with the group then it works out even. I guess what I am saying is that each class should have something different to bring to the table but one class maybe better one vs one. 8. TRAVEL AND DEATH. Travel and Death. Well first off I am a true beleive that Death should sting, you should absolute hate dieing. Dieing should be the worst thing that could happen to you. You should have to do everything in your power not to die. Exp Lose, Corpse runs, Death loops, item lost are all ways to reach that goal. I personally thing that if you Die, then you should have to start off with basic items and have to figure out how to get your corpse back, if could be a corpse run, or get another player to summon or do a quest that will return you to your spirit. Example, I am with a group and I die deep deep in a cave system, their is no chance I can get down their myself and my group calls it a night. Well I am screwed right? Wrong, what if I could go to an NPC and request a spirit quest. The quest would take me a 15 - 20 minutes to complete but would return my body and items to were I finished the quest. I think that would solve this whole issue fearing death and fearing losing a corpse. Travel never really bothered me, I dont mind running along way to go do something. Some classes should be able to port to certain locations and boats, mounts should be in places but I dont think it should be instant travel. Maybe Wizards and Druids could port to certian areas but would only have a limited number of port spells per 24 hour game period, or a long cool down. Maybe after completeing a long quest a NPC spawns that will allow you to travel to were you want, but it is a one time thing..... Maybe crafters could craft items that would allow you travel but would cost alot to recharge... Their are many many ways to limit travel time but also make you feel like you are part of the world. 9. LOOT AND MONEY. As I said above all loot should have to go though a refining process though crafters. Money should be a secondary focus, Money should buy certain items. Money has never been an issue in any MMO I ever played, it was a timesink if anything. 10. IT MUST BE FUN! - I agree 100%, but what is fun to me might not be fun to the next player. What I find fun you may hate, again it comes down to the type of player you are. These are my opinions, and I dont care if you agree or disagree but as a MMO player since 1999, I know what I like in games and I know what I dont like in games. Honestly that is how everyone should be, What you WANT IN A GAME, MAY NOT BE WHAT I WANT IN A GAME. |

Well I got lvl 11 last night on my new toon on the new server. Finally died trying to kill some guy named Durr, his guards raped me. Anyway, Yes I am not a fan of Zerging but in both of your post you say that Star wars Galaxies is nothing but a solo grind fest then in the same breath you say it is nothing but Zerg tactic's. Umm Last time I checked Zerg was a group/raid tactic (bad one at that) and you cannot Zerg solo. So far it has all been solo quest and kills. Not a huge issue, I was a Necromancer in EQ1, if you didnt know that is one of the best solo classes in game and not alot of people like to include Necromancers in groups. (I call them stuped people). I understand that some people dont like the game now, well some people flat out hate the game. I have to say so far (I am not very deep in the game and Can only comment on the quests/stuff I have seen) its not that bad, its fun, I love exploring the area's I have seen in Star Wars Movies. Again, People can not like a game or love a game, just like Daneti said, use the 14 day trail to test out the game. That is what I am doing. 2 days into the game and so far so good. I must say what will make or break the game for me is going to be group/raid/pvp battles and Community. EQ1 had the best Community of any MMO I ever played and my MMO Resume is long. So Far the Community is great. Very Helpful and Very nice. What makes or breaks a game for me, may not be the same for you.
Lasai, I do value your comments, but I will decide if SWG is a game for me or not based on playng the game vs someone else playing the game. To be Honest, I am planning to use SWG as a tide over till some new MMO's hit the market. WAR being the one I am watching after Vanguard flopped (Yes I waited for over 3 years for this game and it is not anything I wanted) |
|
Originally posted by Daneti Ahh I got ya. I started doing some quest that put me on Jabb the Hutts good side so he doesnt kill me for working with Han Solo or so that is what the quest line tells me. Quest seem fun so far. Hopfully I dont have to do all the quests because I tend to skip some. I consider my self a hardcore player in that I tend to try to become the best in my choosen class and I love raiding. (Everquest for over 5 years lol, you have to love raiding). |

Originally posted by Daneti Lol I have no idea what your talking about with the Legacy quest. To me that sounds like an Epic quest which would lead me to believe it is for higher lvl players |

Well I will be on when I get home and I will create a Toon on your server.

Is there a huge difference in the factions as far as quest and items. I mean lets say I pick imperial will they have equal or better items to the rebels or do the rebels have better items. or is it just a matter of which side you want to fight for and each have equal items and quests. Also, What server are you on Daneti? I will just start over on that server. |
|
Originally posted by Daneti Thanks, but I think we are on different servers. I am on bria server and I think you said you were on Valcyn. I have not decided which faction I am going to join, Rebel or Imperial but I am sure I have away to go before I have to make that choice. Anyway thanks again for the offer, maybe I will just roll a BH on your server and start over, not like I am that far in. |

Cool, thanks for the help. I will look for you tonight. /who (player name) is the command right? |

Nope, I will not be on for sometime (I am at work till 5pm est). I will be on tonight though. Thanks for the offer. |
