It is a good move to implament avatar combat for release, and hopefully 90% of all the avatar combat takes place in boarding actions after some sea battles, or youll end up with all the idiots "dueling"/fighting in ports and ruin the basic imput of the game. Think of this game like Master and Commander: Far side of the world. The story mainly takes place about the life at sea and the epic sea battles that takes place in it, being that it will most likely be more polished then avatar infact almost generally stated by the devs on many occasions that it is the most polished system in the game. But it comming out 07 (I think i dont know, but around the time of PotC 3, and the mmo) It will get alot of pirate hype, on Disney comming out with PotC Online there is not much to worry about. PotBS is a very polished game in its self, and being it has more of a historical feeling to it and roll, it will get alot of the adults rather than the voodoo ooo ahh magic stuff that attracts alot more of the little kids and the kids who are largely influenced by movies.

I didnt know they decided to put in avatar combat.
I had followed this game for a while but when the devs announced no avatar combat i put it on hte ignore pile.

No avatar combat gave me Earth and Beyond Flashbacks.....

Plus they ARE working on a Diablo MMorpg.....

A 40k mmorpg would be awesome but IMO in order to create it too many shortcuts would be taken and it would end up being watered down....

I wont be suprised if a 40k mmorpg is developed if WAR is a success...

I like the landsnecht look also
in particular the armored upper torso and half helms (Not to mention the flamberge)

The Empire is stylin - part of the reason I want to play them

We are mainly focused on Order but Most of US are Warhammer Fans and want to play both sides

we want the ability to play together on the destruction side as well - hence starting a destruction branch.

No one likes elves so if their city was attacked most of us (empire) would ask "Can I help?"

Uo was just awesome

I mean IN uo I could spot my friends in front ofa crowded brit bank by the way their characters looked - Try to do that in wow.

Uo had a great community- the guild I was in (Knights of solamnia- lake superior) was awesome.
We used to gather nightly at the cotton patch on moonglow for power hour and just had a blast walloping on each other.

IDOCS were the bomb! I dont know what was funner - People grabbing stuff or people trying to place new houses.

I played for about 5 years - After I made my tamer/bard I basically had a UO ATM Machine - i could farm up over 100k in gold in 2 hours - SO I built up a big house - got rares - yadda yadda yadda.

In time most of my guildies had quit playing (for a very long time we were in the top 10 of all guilds for number of members)
When power hour changed people started going to the patch less and less - and people were getting bored (lots tried out shadowbane...)

I still have some friends who play (Zion Presario) ANd actually my account is still active (I gave it to a friend)

I thought about giving it another try - so I signed up for the 2 week free trial but there really wasnt any point in starting again- there wasnt enough new stuff to make it interesting again

Having great graphics is icing on the cake!

Several guilds are hold overs from the Climax days (mine included)
Sure it has a year to go But "Trying to better the chance of beta" is
not what we're about- Actually we're all about pie.

My guild is having fun and the games not even out yet - I have no
worries about the Boys making it to launch. Guilds wont be as important
for advancment as in WOW - meaning people will be free to just play the
game and have fun. (which is they way things should be!)

A couple of people mentioned starting guilds and having the members turn into jerks once the game launches. That is possible but if you make it very clear what your guild is all about and what is and is not tolerated you cna help minimize this...
