Oh no, too many lightsabres in a Star Wars MMO!

Confirms my suspicions that the game's intended target groups are the more fashion and social life conscious amongst us who indeed would spend a little cash in a clothing store occasionaly to endulge themselves in toying with their character's looks.

Like GW2 then, where everyone in the open world will be your buddy. V_V

Pretty sad state of affairs that both big upcoming titles flaunting a three faction system shy away from open world pvp, without even catering for those who love it with a specific ruleset so those that abhor it can still have their merry way on pve servers.

LOL like GW2 then LOL.  I cant stop laughing LOL.

Huh brah, ever actually read things before you psot nonsense or what?  Ever hear of this feature in GW2 called WvWvW?  Pretty sure GW2 will be the next greatest PvP game, because their PvP isnt an after thought like it is in SWToR.

And if you think just becasue GW2 doesnt have traditional 'gank' fest PvP then let me point you to some thing called DAoC which actually has the exact same PvP as GW2, and I am pretty sure if you took a pole on any MMO and asked which MMO was the best for PvP, you'd get DAoC as the overwhelming favorite.

I wish GW2 fans would quit saying GW2 WvWvW is the EXACT same thing as DAOC. The only thing similar is there are three sides, and then that is not even the same. DAOC had 3 distinct sides, not 1, photocopy and photocopy. DAOC had fully persistent battlefields that did not reset. Also, the argument of 2 sides teaming up to take down 1 side isnt valid either. You only have two weeks to form an alliance, and then there is only 1 winner after the two week time limit, so if the two sides help to overthrow the stonger, who gets the win. I think it will just be a free for all.

Is this a Clone of a Cloned thread that people keep bringing up over and over again?

No problems here as well.

Say what you got to say to justify 4000+ posts of hate between the two of you. I lost money on something, I am not going to continue on investing as much time and energy as some of the haters in MO forums. I played in beta, preordered, cancelled and moved on. I didn't feel the need to post ~1200 and ~3000 times why the game sucks and people should stay away.

Vindictus is where it's at.

Much more fun than traditional mmo global cooldown gameplay.

Is Vindictus an MMO?

The fact that TOR's RVR has only two sides will be a problem to me.  GW2, imho, has the best chance of recapturing the DAoC feeling... not to say TOR won't have some fun moments in RVR lakes, but to me, the third side is really integral to capturing the DAoC feel.

I mostly wish I could incorporate DAoC's pvp system and setup into some of the existing MMOs today :(

http://www.primeonline.com/

More hyped about this game than any other. This is the return of open world pvp , not the ones listed.

I agree, just reading the message boards, it is flooded with exDAOC players, and it has Sanya as the community rep (from DAOC). I will prolly be released before a lot of other games like TSW and GW2.

I still think the best way to handle two factions is to give modifiers when dealing with other races within your faction.

Space Marine Apothecary healing a Space Marine +10%

Space Marine Apothecary Healing Imperial Guard +5%

Space Marine Apothecary healing Eldar -15%

This is just an example, but it could expand to other things as well like exp and what not. It will allow other races to group together, but its not ideal. The same could be said for guilds, where people will be looking to make all 1 race guilds to get the most advantages.

I thought I was going to be suckered into reading some "OMG GW2 WILL OWN!!!" thread

TOR has more classes then that, has PvP, and a very long personal story arc. If you are also going to list whats "planned" for one after release, I am sure some of the more hardcore TOR fans can list what BW has said they hope to add.

Looks like you already had your mind made up before you made this poll.

Prime will be the next big 3 faction PvP game that is not Faction Vs. Photocopy Vs. Photocopy.

As in WoT they used a lot of prototypes and concept tanks to level the field.

Eh,  you don't need a subscription to run servers.

SP games have been doing it for years,  GW1 did it,  you don't NEED subscriptions to offset costs...  some companies choose subsciptions because they are greedy,  others do it because they believe it will further the development,  others do it because they feel they are running a service.

Very few games actually live up to the subscription.

ah so how they keep all the severs up then i mean i know its cost money to maintce up keep the software updated cant be free thats what i dont understand :). i know they need to make money somehow still trying to wrap my mind around it XD. i mean i understand it the games free but how do they get money besides box sales and so on.

did u know that aion lineage 2 and every other game NCsoft have, all the server run with the GW money,

If its is such a great method to go B2P, why is NCSoft still charging subscriptions for LIneage 2 and Aion? I still like the P2P model better. In P2P you have the option of cancelling your account to reflect something that changed in the game or the developers change in vision for said game. If enough people do likewise it sends a message to the developer that they did something horribly wrong. In B2P model, the developer has your money after initial box sale and is free to do/change whatever they wish, regardless of promises.

Also, as an example if you have a P2P game and B2P game and both announce they are adding an item shop with game altering items. Both games are going to lose an estimated 100k players because of this change that these players do not want. Which of the 2 models is going to be affected by it more? The one that already has your B2P money or the one thats going to lose ~1.5mil a month in subs.

I will tak the one where I have I have a say so with my subscription fee.

 Because Ncsoft is not ArenaNet,

Is ArenaNet not part of NCsoft?

Jeese, gamers come up with any reason to whine don't they? These features have been used before, yeah. But ArenaNet is really good at delivering high quality games. If this game is going to live up to player expectation, it needs to be very smooth. And it will be. Look at Guild Wars 1. In previous years when people thought of MMOs, they thought of WoW and they thought of GW. There's a reason for that.

ArenaNet has released 1 game, and most MMOers do not consider GW 1 an MMO.

Its funny how the 3 server PvP is always compared to DAOC. I do not think DAOC would have been lauded so highly if it was Midgard Vs. Midgard Vs. Midgard, that is basically what GW2 is doing, same mirrored classes fighting eachother. DAOC had different classes between factions that differed from eachtother even if it was minor, not mention that weapons had diferent modifiers based on the armor that the other faction was wearing. DAOC RvR fights didnt reset ever week. I wonder how fun those Mists fights will be a day or 2 before a reset when 1 server has been rolling the other 2 for 5 day and then decide not to show up. Good luck coordinating an alliance in the few days you have before a restart. DAOC you recognized your foes, nothing compared to seeing those hated colors/emblems of a particular guild that you hated running towards/from you.

"underwater combat"  should never be in a game where you play a human (or a race of the same stature.)   unless your going to give everyone flippers and a harpoon gun there is no possible way one could fight another underwater swinging a sword wildly.  Straight up stupid and unoriginal, will be just as lame as wows underwater combat

Yeah - that would have to be some sort of magical fantasy world.....oh wait

Also, GW2 don't allows swords underwater....

Does your sword magically morph into a new weapon, or do you actually have to acquire a weapon to use in water?

Uhg, really? How disappointing. Also, at this point how does this meet the requirment to be added to the game list? I was under the impression that a new game needed screenshots and other info, not just a front page of a website?
