for a lot of games up until recently even now still certain things are CPU intensive and require a decent CPU. such as data processing, AI, emulation of physics (unless you have a PPU which even then the game has to take advantage of it) texture load processing, particle systems, some times lighting, and as well as shadowing requires a decent CPU if the game is programmed to offload to the CPU. now a lot of the visual fx can offload the workload onto the GPU and the amount of ram dictates how much data you can hold and process at a time. beyond that you'd have to do some research on it to find out further.

but your processor is pretty obsolete and probably wont play AOC on nothing other than low settings with varying results depending on what sliders and features you have enabled.granted you don't need a Dual core but you would want a higher one than that to get any decent framerates from your game.

as the guy posted above, doesnt matter what you have, if one part is old and it cant keep up, it will bottleneck and slow your whole system down.

hmmm, k. Let me get this straight. You go ahead and disassemble the game, thus breaking a rule of not only HG:L's but of probably more than 90% of the games out there's EULA. You go and brag about it on the game's official forums and get banned for it. And here you are, complaining that they kicked you out ?

Am I the only one here to think this guy is delusional ?

As a matter of fact, when they could have gone further and sued you, you could be grateful that they were so soft on you.

I won't even go so far as to roll on the floor laughing about your denial of you making nude patches for hellgate, oblivion or VTMB. Whatever you may call it, it IS porn, however soft and high quality it may be. Thus making their reason true, and probably a valid one too, though I haven't read HGL's official forum's terms of use either.

though i dont agree with a "nude mod" i do agree that FSS is up to no good, releasing a pretty buggy game.

Also as far as the EULA portion, he cant really get sued for what he is doing as it wont hold up in court, unless he makes profit off of it which directly effects FSS bottom line. there is plenty of texture mods for games I could name, as long as its for personal use/gain and not profit they cant and wont sue him. if that was the case Bethesda would of sued the pants off dozen of modders.

FSS is no different.though they do have every right to ban him due to indecency and ethical issues held up by their TOS, and regulations which the OP has an obligation to uphold when he makes an account. whether or not it was due to the pilfering of the folder directory of the game? i do agree he could of told devs directly to perhaps assist the devs to improve the game rather than blab it out in a post and also talk about a nude mod. i think it was more so the nude mod that probably got the moderators up in a roar. but i also do think the devs dont want to look any more stupid than they want when a player/customer is deciphering the game telling them how they can improve it. major ego hit lol. like any game corp they go str8 for the jugular "BAN!" lol.

I dont play the game cause frankly the demo was crap, and I wasnt splunking down $50 for this game to find out if it has changed. then again thats just my opinion nothing more. but there are definitely certain avenues the OP could of taken, but thats neither here or there.

sounds like a possible driver, or heat issue. rivatuner has options within it to allow you to see your temp on your GPU on your task bar as well as OSD( on screen display) while playing games which is highly convenient. so you can see pretty much in realtime what type of temp's your dealing with when you play, this also allow you to not have to play in windowed mode and still see the info you need. but i have a feeling your probably dual boxing with 2 accounts (windowed mode e.g.) so could be your stressing your card with 2 clients running at the same time. if that is the case id invest in a good video card. a 8800 GT maybe those are pretty cheap now if you dont want to splurge too much on a video card. i run Eq2 with 2 accounts and my 8800 GTS 640 runs them perfectly (albeit on high performance)

to clarify

please guys just tell me which one to get

newegg - prebuilt

or

cyberpower - chosen parts and OS (meaning if u guys think i should pick XP PRO, then tell me a dif one)

either one will do truthfully, if you want to go with a "prebuilt" or a "custom" one in which you choose the components specifically for that. if cyber power allows you to pick your own parts, id lean more towards cyberpower as you have more control on your hardware. but id just stick to XP pro for now vs VISTA.

I love people who buy this crap from places like this and then say they have a "custom" machine.

i hear ya on that. every system i have built custom I have picked the individual components, had them shipped to me, and then built it myself with a screw driver, static wrist strap :). that included everything, including the case, and the PSU. a true custom built machine is when you purchase the parts and build it yourself in your home. and that includes installing the OS and optimizing it.( if you have the know how lol)

since we are puttng in price points ill add mine, but mine is about 6 months prior :p so prices may be cheaper lot cheaper

5600+ X2 (2.8ghz each core but easily overclocks to 2.94ghz on air and runs stable) ~$300

2gb PC6400 DDR2 XMS2 Corsair ~$180

LeadTek 8800 GTS 640mb  ~ $380 (discontinued but the 8800 GT is a bit faster and cheaper now)

500 watt Earth watts Antec $80

1x 74gb Raptor X 10k RPM WD HD ~$150

1x 150 GB Raptor X 10k RPM WD HD ~ $225

X-fi Extreme gamer ~$120

ZALMAN 9700 LED 120MM FAN Heating tubes Copper heatsink ~$55

so as you can see I got a pretty snazzy system for not too much green. just remember you get out what you put in. you dont have to buy a $2k+ system to really decent gaming power. SO take the total I paid and probably chop off approximately $300 given the price depreciation of those given components or the equivelant.

But, it was kept alive but the Star Wars name, and the fact that people focus on other bad things wrong with the game aside from the launch.. (NGE)

dude dont even go there. As buggy as SWG was, it was never as bad as VG. sorry im a launch vet i been there since the beginning, and even popped in during NGE from time to time to see the collateral damage and get a taste of it so i could have a realistic insight to it.
So sorry to burst ya bubble, VG is its own breed of dog. cant really compare the wonkyness of SWG during its early days with VG.Although I will admit SWG blows chunks now.

But i believe the overall opinion is we have less tolerance for bad launches, we can actually in some way thank VG for that. as it woke us up to the issue, sort like a virtual smack in the face to wake us up to the reality that we shouldnt have to deal with this BS. that We as consumers have a right to a solid, stable software product. I don't mind bugs here and there, that is always going tohappen, remember the old saying " to err is to be human" but the bugs have to be within respectable limits in which it doesnt effect the persons aibility to play, or break their immersion. SO the devs have common ethical obligation to release a stable product, not like VG did. I believe funcom will bring a great product, if they dont, then they will fall down miserably and be branded failures, and lose credibility of the community, and rightfully so.

We consumers need to play hardball and show the devs we mean business and speak with our wallets.

Does everyone here suffer from short term memory loss? It seems this subject is brought up every week. Really. If anyone else worries about an early release for AOC please continue the topic on this thread and lets try not to start a new thread every week on the same damn topic. goodnight.

Actually, it makes more sense to restart threads every week.  Once they get too large everyone stops reading the posts in between and real conversation stops.  If it was up to me these threads would have like a 100 post limit and lock.

Determining what makes a "bad" launch is a matter pf opinion in some cases.  Yeah, WOW had some problems at launch, but I forgave them because when it was working (esp not during peak hours) it worked so darn well, and was tons of fun. I was willing to give them time, and within 6 months most of the problems were gone.

Contrast that to VG, which ran badly no matter what the day or time it was, and in the end, turned out to be no fun either, which means it failed on a totally different level.

good point bub, alot of people dont remember that wow was kinda shaky at launch, but it was more server side based as the servers were getting slammed. yeah there were bugs but not game breaking bugs like VG.  as I played both beta of VG and WOW and they are 2 completely different breeds of dog. fast forward to the same time and WoW blue VG out the water via stability, performance, and overall quality.

I also agree that a "bad" launch is subjective at best and merely opiniontative of that person's expectation and experience.  I too wasnt happy with WOW original issues, but the game turned out great in a short time. Even if AOC has a few hiccups, I think it is safe to say that if Funcom is smart they would of learned from their mistakes with AO's launch and did the necessary leg work to make sure AOC ran good, or at least was stable, and performed well despite people slamming the servers intitially, which I'm pretty certain will happen, but I am confident the core game will be a stable release with few bugs here, non game breaking. but then again thats just me im a trusting soul, and I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt if it looks liek their heart is really in the right place.

dont know what u talking about but Eq2 is good, and has good subscriber numbers. VSOH, and DNL u got credibility on those, (DNL i never played so i cant say directly but i have played Vanguard and its still broken beta) but Eq2 is a down right enriching experience. only thing it needs is some engine optimizations to bring it into full support with 8800's and multicore support. other than that the game has rich, story filled quests, awesome gear, enthralling raids there is alot you can do inthat game. so although your entitled to your opinion, thats all it is, an opinion, Eq2 is far from buggy. VSOH? yeah thats a buggy mess.

hell there is even leaked info on warhammer and people complaining about it. but like AOC or any unfinished game for that matter, it is not fair to Developers, as well as the potential customers, to  presume or make final decisions on an unfinished product and yell it out to everyone.

I agree a open beta should happen soon, but I also respect them for holding off keeping things under wraps for now til they are certain this game is ready to go or at least ready for a trial run just before it releases. this will give them time to clean up any code and issues that may be lingering.

however I am pre-ordering the CE version of AOC and am Quite happy with what I see so far, more so i am estatic about the hands on combat system. Lot of people say oh they are being innovative, some say they are rehashing mediorce features, all they need to do is do a few things really well, combat system that is engaging, and fun and hands on (which i think most people will agree will most likely be a blast)  i know im gonna love it, hvaent played a game that is truly hands on and interactive in such a way that creates simplistic complexity lol i know an oxymoron but its true. I also think the sieges will be the big thing once people get to a high level. several of my guild mates in Eq2 have already decided and are organized a a exodus from Eq2 to AOC to play on the same server. Im gonna still play Eq2 but i think majority time will be in AOC for a good amount of time hahaha. ill of course throw a post in AOC forums what server we are going to and if anyone wants to come :P

but to get back on the subject at hand. I think its not fair or realistic to slam a game or label a game until its pretty much done, and ready to handle mass consumption. in that it is good to basically shush your mouth, let the devs do their work, and allow the beta testers stress the game to find broken issues with the game so when we the actual retail players purchase the game, we have that much less to worry about.

anyone that clicks on a strange link deserves to get a virus. but i agree MMORG GM's should check it authenticity and delete this link and post immediately and then summarily ban the OP for spreading Viruses.

and even if its not a virus, Im not clicking on a link to artifically boost the stat ratings of a game. Not fair to those who want a realistic view on the quality or potential quality of the game. if you like the game by all means play it, but dont have people click on a link boosting its ratings when it may in deed be total crap, because all you will end up doing is makng more people hate the game when they realize what a load of Bullcrap they got and then summarily osctrasize the game more so than before. so you do more damage to your game than good.

im not a big advocate of ads in games in fact I despise them. nothing worse than seeing streaming ads of axe, prison break posters (see swat 4 for major example) R6 vegas did this, but Ill admit the single player was pretty memorable but i wasnt happy to learn it too had ads, or else I would of threw it back in the face of the best buy manager and demanded my money back. funny to is the fact it has small print. but anyways im getting off track here.

the only sunshine on this storm is the fact that they make it optional, its not forced onto the player who is paying $14.99 for a ad free environment. i think they are intrusive, demanding, and downright guady. will this improve NCsofts bottom line and bring better content for the game? only time will tell, but I must commend them on allowing it to be optional. at least i have a choice in the matter so ill give them kudos for that. and if it indeed brings more higher quality content, who knows it may very well work, and NCsoft proved that t does. but once again only time will tell, Ill have to sit back and watch a bit.

sorry dude the social panel doesnt work that way, it does a check of classes of who is on within the "zone" or area not the enterity of the server. id find myself hard pressed to believe you counted or took the time to count 1400+ people on the server at that given time.

but i degress. the trial will give those who want to try it a chance to see for what the game really is, and have their own opinion on it, so that much i know is true. everything else is speculative. the game isnt so much dying as it is merely getting by. one thing i will definitely agree Lotro tend to have nobody on it, and was also incredibly hard to find a group, regardless if i did a search, or a shout, or a OOC or in any level speciic channel. i think the game itself is dropping in favor so ill agree on that much as I just left in march. and got bored to tears (was on melendor server) and just left from having such a hard time finding groups for the book quests.

I was a warrior on seradon lvl 24 and found it hard to find groups, not because I didnt meet anyone,or didnt know anyone, cause no one was there, or they had other things to do, its not my subjective opinion, its my subjective experience, big difference.

either way Im not knocking the game, just would like there to be less smoke and mirrors in telling people what the deal really is. your no developer so you cant discern what the actual numbers are within the game. unless they enabled that type of control in the social panel, which I highly doubt. but regardless back on the issue of the trial i think itll be perhaps showcase what condition the game really is for people.

but i also think itll be a major spam center for gold services if they are able to speak to other players within the main game, so that should prove to be the start of fun filled wacky misadventures, ya think?? well id say either way irregardless enjoy ya game, just becareful in the future in disclosing "so called facts" to people.

stop stitching together lies. there is no way VSoh has more players than LOTRO, Eq2, or WOW.nice try though. i just left the game not too long ago, and found it extremely hard to find a acceptable group, let alone anyone on at any given time to find a 3 or 5 man group for the quest necessary to complete. but good attempt though, ill give ya credit.

is there people playing? yeah  but no way near 700-1500 per server at a given time.the ability and ease of finding the given people to form a acceptable and formiable group to take on certain quests is a lesson in frustration. So id appreciate it if you practice what you preach, and get a...

REALITY CHECK!

though id admit the trial island is a step in the right direction.

just curious, how many people would accept a few updates that only focus on performance enhancements?? cause i for one would definitely tolerate a few updates which focus only on performance enhancements. so far we have recieved stellar content and feel we can allow for a good 2-3 updates that focus only on upgrading the code to the engine, and optimizing the engine and game in general.

so just a simple response to that would be nice, like "yes I would like updates to focus on optimizing the engine and game performance enhancements" and adele if you could relay that to the devs by all means please.

As others Im wondering if this will ever get addressed or should I just cancel now, and forget the game, as I have more than adequate system that is not being utilized by the engine of this game. it makes me wonder as a consumer/customer if they even care about my concerns and are only worried about getting money. if this issue does not in fact get addressed I will have no choice but to up and leave to "greener pastures"such as e.g. AOC which I already pre-ordered. SOE is slowly running out of time, and this engine that Eq2 is not built for the future, at least not our future where dualcores and quadcores now dominate the landscape.

there is an old saying "those who do not adapt, die off leaving opportunity for those who can"

This is good...I hope you emailed that to adele
