This game has both RvR and PvP... If you are familiar with WOW, the scenario instances are similar to WOW battlegrounds on steroids.

The outdoor PvP which I think is the bigger part of the game (it is), which means, taking over towers, castles, cities, ect to gain a faction bonus ect... This is truely RvR.. very similar to DAoC which also owned. Theres seige weapons and everything...The game isnt your typical grind game, the action starts as soon as you make your character.

Public Quests (PQ) are probably the coolest thing i've seen in a MMO in a long time.

Its apretty much a quest in a certain area where the people in a large radius (grouped AND non-grouped) share credit for defeating staged challenges (Usually 2-4 stages). At the end of the stages, theres usually a boss and after the boss is dead a treasure chest is then spawned. Depending on how much you contributed determines your bonus roll, so leechers dont get much credit. On top of the treasure, you get lots of XP and you gain influence which helps your entire faction and opens up rewards for you.

PQ's are available anytime... If you wanted to level 1-50, you could do it soloely on PQs!

I havea feeling White Lion's will be the most played class on Order....

They use a War Lion pet with large axes... Think WoW hunter but with all melee.

After playing beta, this game will be long term and will definately have lots of expansions.

10/10  Thank you Mythic for a game! Every MMO released in the past year was garbage.

I love this game and im coming from WoW... Than again, a few friends didnt like it... Its all about you. This is an RvR game but also has PvE elements. The RvR is a 24/7 battle... You take control of zones and cities and towers ect... DAoC players will love this and new players as well, its all a matter of what your looking for.

Ok, according to the herald, North American beta players can talk.

MMO Background:

First off, i'de like to say I've been playing MMORPG's since The Realm by Sierra and since than played just about every mainstream MMO, mostly Everquest, DAoC, EQ2, WoW, AC2, CoH, and also many free MMO's.

WAR is coming!:

From the moment you step into the game, whichever side you choose, each atmosphere is unique and very artful but one thing is in common; THEY ARE ALL AT WAR! This has to be the craziest MMO I've played. From the moment you enter the game, you are not forced to do one thing like most MMO's where you must quest or must start grinding. From the start, you are opted with many choices which I won't spoil for anyone.

~~**~~  I'm trying to review the beta but at the same time not spoil anything for those who haven't even been in game yet. I will just finish with pro's/con's

Pro's

Unique atmosphere

Lots of very artful landscapes

Unique classes

Lots of action from the moment you start

Many more Pro's but don't wanna spoil anything

Con's:

Must wait a month to play retail!

I keep seeing lots of posts,  that people are leaving WoW for WAR and that is fine. But im warning you now, if WAR is anything like DAoC, it will be a LOT different then WoW in terms of controls, movement, combat, skill system, RvR, ect....

Same thing happened with AoC and look what happened. People expecting a WoW killer and they play it and get disappointed. Wasn't that bad of a game but people expected to much.

I have faith in WAR and I believe itll do great. But just understand that it wont be like WoW and doesn't need to be to be good.

Thanks Greefer!

No Sgt. Frog, I'm afraid I'm entrenched in L2. However, I was in the closed Beta of Archlord and thought there were many redeeming features (it's also a "bit" L2ish) and really liked some of the Art design. So I thought I would just go check it out and see what's changed. I actually really liked the grinding because it was very "relaxing".

Edit: though it is possible I can leave l2 for Aion. We'll see.

lol ah i see :)

well good luck with the game :) but personally if you want a free grind game i think RF is better. made by the same people.

Thanks, but I tried RF Online and didn't like it. This is just sort of a diversion for 20 minutes before I go to bed. Not to be taken seriously at all. Though in the end, I don't really take any game "that" seriously.

what level are you in Lineage 2?

Whats the difference between a crack addict who needs to get his next fix of the crack.

Between a good MMORPG that has a sick grind that requires endless hours to gain 1 level?

There both the same. The MMO sucks you in and makes you pay money for teh cash shop. For P2P, the grind is there so you take longer to get to the cap to hide there end game because maybe its not done.

Either scenario... Something addicting that forces you to keep going. If you dont think MMO's are addicting, read some of the latest psychology books. Its becoming a new "problem".

http://www.playrequiem.com/default.aspx

Reqiuem has its oficial launch the 19th and will be free to play with an optional cash shop and monthly fee. The game has some cool concepts and theres a lot of quests if you dont like just killing monsters. Theres also dungeons you can group for (require a group to enter) that drop cool stuff. Theres an auction house and a very fun crafting system. Check it out!

Rohan is in open beta. The game is pretty good but still in beta so things are changing left and right. Cash shop needs to be fixed but other than that, its a decent game if you can handle some grinding.

Whats the item system like? One othing I loved in Rohan is that you could forge items and have a lot of stats on them if yoyu got lucky and succeeded. Does Requiem have any crafting or upgrading? How many qualities of items are in Requiem (Like normal, rare, unique, set, ect?)

Are bosses in this game soloable or more group based?

I played both, more Rohan than Requiem and I love Rohan but the grind is ridiculous. Is REquiem less of a grind? Im not a quester, I lie to grind but the grind cant be SUPER crazy. Im talking 10,000+ mobs per level, THAT is crazy. Is requiem that bad?

What does Reqiuem have to offer for late game?

Is group XP good?

You won't see a next-gen game for a long time.

Why? It's NOT because they can't make one it's because companies are afraid of spending A LOT of money making an MMO and if it fails, they are screwed.

Only companies I see capable of making a next gen game and having confidence in it is Blizzard or SoE. Sadly, they probably won't because they make so much money on current projects.

All I see on these forums is AoC is button mashing and repetative questing, yadda yadda. What do you think an MMORPG is?

MMORPG consists of:

Large player base online

Quests to help level

Grinding to help level

Large world to explore

Character customization

The list goes on but i see people on here asking for so much. The arguement about button mashing is laughable. Its a video game, how else would you control your character? Sorry but virtual reality isnt out yet.

Then I see people talkign about quests and how linear the game is. First off, just take a look at WoW. 10+ million players and THAT is a linear quest game. AoC is the same thing, WHO CARES? AoC adds epic mode dunegons which give you 6x exp and you can SKIP the first set of quests and go straight to the mainland around level 18. The game has  a lot to offer but it takes exploration and intelligence to see that.

On top of all this, AoC JUST LAUNCHED, ALL MMO's have a bumpy start. Even WoW took a while to get polished.

Overview: AoC is a VERY good MMO if you like MMO's. When you see a review saying, repetative grind, quests, yadda yadda, that player doesn't like MMO's. Go play Oblivion or GTA 4 but don't degrade this game cause you don't like MMO's.

AoC offers a lot from good graphics, combat, unique classes, PvP, story, guilds, crafting, player made cities, mounted combat, siege warfare. I mean cmon, if you dont have this game by now, GET IT! As for the polish, give it a few weeks to settle down and get patched up and itll be polished.

What resolution?

(Is it worth spending 600$ on a 9800 GX2 1gig ram video card at this point? Would it help my system or is something bottlenecking everything?)
