-I like how you can find most of the cash shop items in-game as drops!
-Love that there is going to be a TON of superheroes so you will always have something to do.
-I love the simplicity of the skill system and loot. It's not too simple but not overly complicated.
-I love the game structure and how it has open zones to explore and random events you can do with other players in your area.
-Loot is unique to the player so no competition! WOOT!
This game is looking fun so far! It's free and the cash shop isn't going to be crazy like most free games! You can even earn heroes and unlocks from monster drops! Can't for for the launch!

To me, online RPG's tend to have one of two main focuses.
1.) Action RPG where you focus mostly on getting better items and leveling is secondary.
2.) End game where leveling is key and loot isn't really a thing until later.
What type of game is City of Steam? (So far I just been doing linear quests) |

I paid a large sum of money for Darkfall back in the day on a whim. Because of that, I get to play DFUW for a mere 14.99....... I played it AS A SOLO PLAYER for 2 weeks hardcore.
The game is as broken as Darkfall 1.0
The concept of the game doesn't work. There is literally no way you can get a large following based on open PvP because you FORCE players to join large clans who are active.
Even if you join a clan, ANY form of solo play is the baseline for failure. The game revolves around survival of the fit. Literal terms........... You play solo? You are doomed.... Group of 2+ will rape you! Wanna play with a friend? Group of 3+ will rape you! Wanna play with a family? Maybe 3-10 players? Great! You will be raped eventually by a bigger force.
The game revolves around who is organized and has numbers. [mod edit]
The game is nothing but a deathmatch of who has the most units.
Unfortunately, the MMORPG has come to a peak and all we get is watered down this and that and occasionally a game that tries to be different. I will give Darkfall effort for trying. This genre needs a change or a unique view, unfortunately, Darkfall isn't it.
6/10 is my final rating! |

So I really gave a lot of thought to spending 59.99 on the game to play early. I factored in a few things and finally decided to get it. This was before I ever played the game.
After a few hours of gameplay, I am level 11 on a guardian fighter and I must say, this is one of the best MMO's thathas launched in a long time. Probably the past 5 years... The combat reminds me of Tera (Good thing because Tera is a good game also)... The thing that really got me was a few things actually: 1.) Crafting... I loved the crafting in Star Wars: The Old Republic and BAM! We have a system very similar! AWESOME! 2.) Companions! I LOVE PETS! Now we all get pets!!!!! 3.) Foundry! So I was questing and randomly found a guy who offered PLAYER MADE quests. It then brought me to a dungeon and I was rewarded handsomely for it. It even gave me the option to TIP the quest/dungeon maker for his hard work. I love this system. I have yet to try out PvP or official dungeons or even scratch end-game but so far, the game has been worth 59.99 for me just after seeing the game design. 9/10 A+ Great job Cryptic! ![]() |

12 slot bag isnt even the largest bag, therefore, buying one will only be a waste later when you will want 24 slot bags.
Reminder: Perfect World Entertainment is known for having overpriced and brutal cash shops. Cryptic might have made a good game but it can easily be ruined by PWE's greed. |

ARAM is what I like about MOBA's. I actually don't like the whole laning gameplay in normal MOBA's.

1.) Item System Feedback

How do you obtain Astral Diamonds in-game? Random monster drops? Dungeons? Quests?
I just heard about these and scared me. Sounded like one of PWE ultra cash shop plans. |

Just started my new job and I am literally broke. Literally, 0$. Luckily, I just started my job but I don't get paid until next week, therefore, this beta weekend is a no-go since I can't pre-order the 59.99$ pack.
Anyone out there have an extra hero of the north invite? (Not sure if it is against the rules to ask here for one. If it is, just delete this post and I apologize)
Send me a PM otherwise and thank you. |

Any weird mechanics in this game that isn't part of the normal MMORPG standard?
I know I saw one video of the campfire, is that the only way you can heal without a cleric?
Are daily skills really every 24 hours or in-game days? (How long is that?) |

What are some of the things to do/work for at the level cap?
Any form of loot grind?
Any form of end game crafting?
Mostly PvP?
What? |

Do you get loot and xp for doing player made dungeons? Is it similar to EQ2's dungeon maker? |
|
|
1.) What is this game similar to? Do you just do quests like in WoW?
2.) Is the loot/item system fun? Tons of loot like Diablo/WoW with stats and stuff?
3.) Are the dungeons soloable?
4.) WHat is the cash shop going to sell? Is it P2P? If yes, how? |

#1 MMO shooter for me. Can't stop playing!

I didn't play the beta but I stayed up all night and played all day yesterday and still playing. Gonna do a 72 hour marathon. This game is super fun! Feels like a Borderlands and Rift combo in a Science Fiction setting. Story is great so far! Can't wait for the TV show!

For PC users, how did the mouse movement feel? I heard there is no raw input and I was worried it would feel clunky/delayed. Some games, if they dont use raw input and you don't get good FPS, your mouse will be very sluggish/non-responsive to move.
Tell me about it, smooth? Clunky? didn't notice? |

Auto aim isn't good because then you can't hit the critical points on monsters. I will be turning it off and getting 100% headshots/critical shots.
I laughed at one youtube video because he was attacking one of those crystal even monsters in the black area when the red area was exposed. You hit the boss for like 50 on the black area but you hit for 450 on the red area. Critical spots = gg so if you use auto aim, you are gonna be one of those dudes spending 600 hours per boss.
I can't wait to play the game! |

1.) MMOTPS with RPG elements.
2.) Large open world
3.) 8 vs 8, 16 vs 16, 64 vs 64 Epic PvP battles with numerous game modes and maps.
4.) 20 Guns all capable of having random stats which change the way they are used.
5.) Skill based game where high levels don't have an edge in PvP.
6.) Clans (All boosts bought from the store are shared among your clan and friends if ONE person buys them)
7.) Buy to play. One price (59.99) and you never have to pay again. DLC is optional and so is the cash shop. Some of the DLC's are also going to be free.
8.) Emerse yourself in the Defiance world and story and go even further and watch the T.V. show starting April 15th.
9.) Dynamic events which rewards exploration and encourages teamwork!
10.) Challanges with leaderboards such as racing with vehicles.
11.) Made by Trion Worlds. Known for consistent updates for there games. Rift has more updates in a year than Blizzard has with WoW. Trion listens to there playerbase and fixes/changes things based on player feedback.
12.) Customization in the form of perks and skills. You can equip one skill and 9 passive perks.
13.) Further customization in the form of two weapons you use primary/secondary and what mods you equip to each one. Combine that with your perk choices and everyone will be unique. Play how you want to play.
14.) Highly optimized graphics. No lag even on lower end systems.
15.) Loot drops from monsters/bosses/events are unique to you. You don't have to compete with stangers or with your friends.
16.) Tons of achievements to work on.
17.) EGO (Level) cap of 5000. This will keep you occupied for a long time.
18.) Chance to change the direction of the show. (Rumor has it, this applies to season 2)
19.) Chance to be in Season 2 of the show. (Rumor)
20.) Play competetive or casual. Each dynamic event and co-op mission has a leaderboard. If you get #1, you get more loot, more exp, and more money (scrip). If you don't get 1st, it doesn't penalize you.
21.) Tons of room for new content. What we get is a base game. Everything is setup to be customizable by the developers. In the future, expect a larger world, more perks, more skills, more guns, more co-op missions, more events, more playable races, more more more. This is Trion Worlds, they update there games fast and efficient.
22.) Hunt down key fragments to unlock lockboxes which contain random loot!
23.) Choose from 3 base types of vehicles with tons of different sub-types of each!
24.) All monsters have a critical weakness point such as a headshot or a huge boss having a weak abdomen and you deal bonus damage.
25.) Interact with characters from the T.V. show!
26.) Find rare loot! (Rarity is color based: White > Green > Blue > Purple > Orange)
27.) Dismantle weapons you don't want for crafting material used to create mods for weapons.
28.) Better than Planetside 2 which is made by $ony.
29.) Play it on PC, XBOX360, or PS3! Whichever one you prefer!
30.) Make a name for yourself! Top the leaderbboards consistently in dynamic events and show the world you are the greatest!
31.) Love dungeons? Queue up for a 4 player co-op mission from anywhere in the world!
32.) Love PvP? Queue up for a 8 vs 8 or 16 vs 16 or 24 vs 24 battle on various maps!
33.) Love large scale PvP? Queue for the SHADOW WAR! 64 vs 64! Bring it!
34.) Tons of costumes and skins in the cash shop if you don't like the look of your character.
35.) Be a part of something brand new and special! Game with a T.V. show! What if it's epic? Be a part of it from day 1 not day 361. |
