Kinda curious about pops myself. Just picked it up but won't play until I'm done with Metro 2033 and DA:O if they can fix memory leak. I usually solo anyway but is that possible in EQ1?

I've never ran into a group while hunting in enemy lands. Also I get tons of regs and gold off of the people I kill, sometimes more than I would get if I ground on mobs. Also I've hunted people for runs up to 8 hours straight without ever dying and I wouldn't be participating in my huge PVE grind if I didn't know I could solo just fine.

No problem. I consider it a "proactive solution" to afk macroing.
 

Kill the swimmers while you're there ;)

When our Clan was in an alliance that held Gulghat for a long time we used to AFK swim under the bridges in town all night because their were enough people at the Church Bloodwall that if anyone got over the walls and past the towers that they would focus on them and leave us alone!

The newest patch is lousy with fail! Check the O-Boards. I think they outsourced 1.03 to the MO team!

They should be releasing the patch to patch the last patch. Give them time. Though I've had it since pre-order and can't finish it because of the Memory leak or whatever.

Yeah I just picked it up even though I already own original that came with the Sony Station Box Set. As far as the Steam thread it's about DRM so that's not an issue here.

For some reason my original post on this topic was deleted and I got a warning for "flaming" even though I was siding with OP so I will try to be careful.

I'm not sure if OP is trolling or not but if not they have an unusual way of enjoying themselves playing a game. That being said, if they are getting everything they want out of it then good on you! DF is "sandbox" so if a player wants to play it like it's a GM Sim then let them. He/she is doing nothing wrong by reporting AFK swimmers. Not to mention boosting stats in the process. In fact Mmoluva should start a Clan just to patrol the waters of Agon to catch AFK'ers.

If Op IS trolling, then shame on us for giving them a free buffet!

EDIT: Do not give your in-game name! Unless you really want to spice up your game!

The comparisons to DF are valid but you have to admit DF was a more polished turd than MO will (prolly) be at launch. I never Beta'ed DF but started playing on third day after launch. Yes it was BAD. But at least it was playable. MO I'm not sure about. I'm hoping for the best.

Question for the OP.

Did you talk on the phone or by e-mail? Again being in the retail business I know no matter how right you are, if you start out yelling at a CS rep you will get NOWHERE! If they can't kick you up to someone higher they will say ANYTHING to either satisfy you or get you to hang up/leave. This may be the case here.

I've used Steam since it came out, big fan follows everything they do ect. and have never heard of them suspending an account for non-payment of funds. I HATE DRM also so I'm on your side. Hope you can get it worked out.

I got a Beta key in some gaming magazine thats now gone I think. I only got to play it for a few days before shutting down servers. I had very high hopes and was mad when they stopped production. I think I'll shoot em an E-mail myself just to make sure they didn't forget about me!

Holy crap that is the silliest thing I've read here today!

This "game" in nowhere near ready for release. As I posted in another thread this game should have never left Alpha testing much less made public in the current state. DF for all the drama did it correctly: Keep Alpha and Beta testing in-house or closed to a few hardcore testers until you have at least a playable game. MO needed the money so they started selling copies when it still was being Alpha'ed (or should have been). Now they are under alot of pressure to get the game out so they are rushing patches that are doing more harm than good.

They should have never started Open Beta before completing the basics of the game.

TL;DR "If this game is going to work" they need to shut down OB servers and worry about creating the groundwork for this game. When they have a playable world, even if empty. then maybe let the suckers players that paid already start Close Beta.


I agree with you. The game is in really bad shape and isn't ready for release, but pushing back into the second quarter might be the biggest mistake.

It WOULD be a mistake if after the second quarter rolls around and there is still a steaming pile of rotten bits and bytes of MO on your HD that is unplayable. Thats why they should just shut it down until they can release a product worth paying for.

But for certain types of people it can be hard to log off. Usually because their RL is inferior to their gaming life. They can enter a new world that they can control and not have to worry about distractions like work or that noisy thing in the back room that keeps shitting itself and getting on my nerves!

Again it's sad but true: Certain people should not be allowed to reproduce.

Of course lets not blame gaming of any kind on these tragic stories. These "parents" were unfit before ever playing a game or having children, not because of said game. Gaming does not turn well-adjusted people into uncaring monsters. It just enables their behavior.

We need to give SV the same time frame to get their game finished as we did AV. So we'll talk again in 2018!

Seriously though, DF was a joke at launch, yes I was there. But they quickly improved the game until you have what you see now. Problem with MO is that it's still in an Alpha state but treated like an Open Beta/pre-launch product which it's obviously not. SV should NEVER have brought this "game" out in the open in this state. All the gullible people who paid for this Alpha Testing are crying to the heavens to "fix this mess!" creating more problems because they are rushing out patches and fixes that are causing other issues. If they had kept the Alpha testing in-house or like DF did their CB then we wouldn't see all these issues IMO. How they thought this was a good idea I will never understand.

Though, with the whole PvPing to level conundrum, lets get the point of PvE getting outleveled too quickly. While I find it works for WAR, namely because the PvE made my eyes bleed, it wouldn't for a game like AoC. There are tons of mid-level group dungeons that are simply amazing, and if you could outlevel them all by grinding in PvP I would find it a shame - even if the point was to avoid the boring quests in the broader zones. I think this is one of the major reasons games don't do this, but it worked for Mythic because they got lucky, or figured the majority of the game would be so boring that they needed that option.

On Darkfall - but you need to PvE goblins+ for quite some time to even become a force to deal with in PvP. I haven't played, but that factoid is all over your subforums.

That can be true if your not in a Clan. But their is strength in numbers so even a new character has a chance in full-on 50v50 Sieges. Trust me. My character never got close to anything maxed out (except for LM but who dosen't) and I had quite a few kills daily. Helps when your City is sieged hourly!
