Daggers are the fastest Melee weapon in game. Damage is up there too. Backstab not sure but all weapons get extra bonus when hitting from rear ( even magic). But they are useless to Parry with, which you will do ALOT. I've been playing almost since NA launch and have NEVER seen daggers in PvP action. I've looted some nice ones from player corpses but never seen one in action. IMHO they may be viable in PvE but PvP will be much harder because of Parry.

But if ya want to try something different than everyone else, Daggers would be the way to go!

The reason I found that funny was I used to get such a kick out of new players in UO that would be asking the same thing, usually while/after running for their lives. This happened a lot outside of Delucia, where they would run around and kill the Shepards. 

Yeah what happened was that I hit him a couple of times on accident and went Grey then he got all mad and killed me when I was working on another mob.  Then when I did my corpse run he got me again before I got to it (should have Rested first). Then I guess he tried to get back into Monkfield Bank and got zapped by towers! Of course I looted his corpse, got my stuff back plus some of his stuff (all crappy noob stuff) then he sends me a tell asking me if we can call it a truce! I said Sure since you started it, then he asked me how to "Stop being evil" (i.e. turn back to Blue) and I say Stop killing me for a start! It was quite funny in a wierd way. Its better to be Ganked by a clueless noob than a group of tw@s that likes to camp at the Starter Goblin areas!

If you see Pong Lenis (yes thats his IGN) whack him a few times then ask him "How do i stop being Evil"!

 

Wow Pong Lenis, that was my former clanmate before I left the clan awful company. We played for several months and fought in the wars that included major alliances. I wonder if he left AC also since he is in a starter town. And to answer your previous questions, the friends list is annoying imo so I don't use it. I just send a /tell to the person that I wanted to talk to. If you don't already know how to send a pm here is what you type: /tell "firstname" "lastname" "yourmessage" without the signs. Are you sure you are ready for Yssam? There are less new players around here since it is far from the starting towns and has all player owned cities and no guard towers to protect you from reds. I will get on later and tomorrow to see if you are on, Ozzy Mcfly is the name correct? I'll busy for a couple of hours.

Well he told me he was new. That was on my first day in Monkfield. Guess he was lying so I wouldn't get mad or something. Dosen't matter, I thought the whole thing was hilarious!

As far as Yssam, your prolly right. Would take a couple of hours just to get there! In a few days when Im more comfortable with game mechanics I'll start looking for a Clan. Seems like all the ones that advertise on Chat all require Vent or TS and I dont use either and refuse to. Nothing more annoying than a bunch of people trying to yell over each other! I just listen to my music collection while playing.

I got the game from Torrent and was getting between 400-900Kb/s took about 6 hours I think (was at work while DL). The longer you are connected to Seeds the better you will find your DL speeds. Maybe you need to ajust your Port Settings and your Share Ratio also. Hope that helps.

Welcome aboard! You have the perfect attitude going in to a game like this. Its not the Be-All-End-All that some say and its not a Barely-Beta POS others say. Its just..DF! Just remember that you WILL be Ganked early and often but dont let it get you down. Just keep running to the nearest Bank every so often and you'll be fine. In 4 days playing I've aquired a Small Arsenal of mostly noobish Shortswords and Armor plus a few good items from "other" means (read: Player Tombstones). So if I do get PK'ed all they get are a few throwaway items cause I'm keeping the good stuff in Bank until I find a Clan to run with (and NO I dont do the Naked thing).

Hey Wyrd, Ive been trying to add you to my Friends list but it says player not found. Do you have to be logged on to add? Im really enjoying the game and think Im ready to join a Clan, getting tired of Solo play. 

Im actually really suprised that their is no XP loss on death in DF. But since their are no levels it would be hard to decide what skills to punish.

If you beleive all the ForumFallers (I dont) the only way to gimp your character is to not macro and AFK Grind and Bloodwall like they say everbody else is doing! I have seen very few AFK'rs in my few days of playing. So the answer is No, you cant gimp your character.

First, let me say I never liked xFire and I think it's a poor way to judge a game's subscription numbers. For the plain, simple fact that not everyone uses it.

How does that make any sense? You're saying some DF players began using xFire at first, and then they, for whatever reason, stopped? That's possible in a few cases, but when you start seeing dropping numbers en masse, it's not a very logical argument. If anything, Darkfall fans would want high xFire numbers, so they can promote the game through it saying, "Look! We have ___ number of subs while ___ game has lost ___ percent of theirs! Darkfall is the best (niche) game evar!"

Makes alot of sense if you actually are an Xfire user (like me). For some reason Xfire is causing issues with some people when playing DF. The Xfire forums have a few posts about lag spikes and whatnot. How many are effected who knows. I dont have any problems running it but some do. Though I do agree that Xfire isnt the best way to track sub numbers.

P.S. For some reason I cant get my Xfire Sig to work on this site. I C&P the URL like it says to but it dosent show up when I post. Any other Xfire users having same problem?

I work evenings so I get off at 11PM CST. Usually on by Midnight or so. Getting ready to log on now. Prolly have to stick around Monkhold (sp?) for a few more days to skill up before trying to make it to Yssam!

Logged my first 4 hours or so and so far its a blast! I did seem to attract some dude that kept killing me even though we are both Human. Then he asks me why he is Evil and how to quit being it! At least he wasent being an ass about it, just the way he plays I guess. Must be too Hardcore to kill the Enemy LOL!

No shite?! Small world huh? I just got your Email and started Torrent from DF site. Gotta go to work in a few hours but should be done when I get home. Getting about 400 kb/sec from seeds so should take about 9-11 hours to finish. Will leave feedback when I get home.

As for the above question of if this will be an MMOFPS- for all intents and purposes, I <think> this might be more along the lines of something like SWG- in that it has both FPS elements and melee combat. The melee combat, I picked up off of one of the class discriptions on wiki or somesuch. However, I think the focus will obviously be on the fps. Why would you  "write a lame answer" for your question? Really?

Only thing I can think of is to use your browsers History Tab and try to find the page that you wrote your lame answer on. I don't use IE (of course) but Firefox goes back quite a few days. Either that or try to remember said lame answer. Good luck!
