RP-PVP because...well... I like RP and PVP lol. I'm kinda glad there's just 1 server for it, it kinda gives the "don't just join it to join it" impression. Tight work Funcom. Keep it real.

I've been waiting for something like this for a long time, and to think, FIVE days off from early start preorder. :-) Gonna be good.

Even tho it sucks theres only to ways to solve this kind of problem:

1: To instance the game like they did.

or

2: To create hundred of servers (Wow-like).

IMO, I prefer the second option, they definetely should have pick the second option.

Any of you guys know if its going to be like guildwars where you go outside a city and you enter in like a single player mission, wich sucks because I WANT TO GANK NOOBS, ksing mobs, make people get kill and stuff like that or its going to have a limit of players per instance and when that instance is full it port you to another instance until that one get full and so ?

IT SUCKS because many of us dont have anyone to play with, I mean, I was specting to meet a lot of people and them to play with them, but now its going to be a little hard to meet people since most of the time I am going to be soloing. T_T

Thx for reading.

I'm actually glad its instanced so I will have a lower chance of playing with people like you. It takes tons of skill to kill new players and kill stealing has to be one of my biggest pet peeves in MMOG's. I bet you like spawn and quest npc camping too, or better yet I bet you like to hide and watch other people fight and swoop in when their health is low after battle. very classy.

Oh noes! A CAREBEAR in a PVP F*&%$#@ oriented MMO! Say it ain't SO!

Suck it up.  Ganking, causing trouble, etc.. That's what makes these types of games fun, and also what adds the competitiveness to the PvP aspect.  Something which is definitely required in this type of game.  Your the reason that makes my day complete, after I gank you.

Personally I believe WAR will top the charts this year, based on the fundemental gameplay (character control similar to WoW, which was successful), RvR system, skill balance & the seemless world environment.

ciao

Yea, you forgot to mention that cool innovative combat system called auto attack we all love. Go back to the WAR forums, green one.

As for the whole instance deal, and as one who has a lot of good things to say about AoC, I must throw in the towel of honesty and hang my head low to this idea. If it's done like EQ2, sweet, I can deal with it. If it's done like Guild Wars, I may have a hard time keeping myself immersed. However, weighing the pros and cons, I still fully stick by AoC all the way, and will see you all in Hyboria =)

I love the tree but the requirement level is off by one..at least for me. Maybe it's a  browser issue.

Now that I have given it a fair play time, I have to say that I want to play this game as much as I did before, if not more.

Let me get some things straight before the hatebois and trolls jump all over this post looking for a fight.

  1. Yes, I recognise there are some performance issues for a few people out there. My PC ran it fine tho I must say... From some of the posts complaining about this problem though I honestly think they would have issues running Moonstone, let alone this game. Some people need to realise that not all games are for them and to play cutting edge graphics (for an mmorpg) you need to spend some money.
  2. Yes, I recognise there are bugs. I get that. None of them broke the game for me though, and the fun factor for me personally outweighs any fixable problems.
  3. No, I do not think we will see a perfect launch. I think we will have, if I am honest, problems for the first 2-4 weeks. Nothing game breaking, but enough to fuel the hater's bile I am sure. Not that it needs any fuel for that tbh.
  4. Yes, I would have preferred certain elemants, such as spell weaving and the like, to be public tested. It just seems safer to have done so. I trust Funcom at this stage enough to know what they are doing though. They have launched MMORPGs before, and I havent, so I would be ridicolous of me at this point to be telling them whats what.
  5. Yes, I do believe that there is an optimsed client that isnt being used yet. I am aware of the arguments to the contrary, but none of them seem to be based on anything any more solid then the evidence I have. This being so, and my cynical nature when it comes to dubiously grounded hate posts from people I don't know and argue like 14 year olds, I choose to discount their obviously jaundiced and biased claims in favour of my own.
  6. Yes, I know this game contains raiding. Yes, I know this games got grinding. I will say right now that I just don't care, and maybe if you do thats your issue and not the games. I am not a hardcore raider, those days are long behind me, and I don't enjoy hardcore grinding, but a little of both in a game is very ok with me. AoC seems to me to allow just that, with the end choice of how much of either I want to do depending on what I achieve. I plan on playing this game in my own way and simply do not expect it to meet 100% with any of my needs or expectations. I know that it  is impossible and I will not hate a game for not doing so.
  7. I personally love the PvP ruleset. I have read it all and formed a balanced view.
  8. No, I do not think this will be a 'wow killa'. It will do well, very well, but it won't go stratospheric. As a player, rather then a investor, that dosent worry me at all though to be honest. A solid player base of 250-400,000 will do just fine. I honestly don't care if this kills WoW or not... it's not really my concern.

Ok... Lets get this out of the way...

So far, my experience has been fun. I have enjoyed 90% of everything so far and I will not be cancelling my pre-order.

Ok, now onto my personal pov on all this...

I am enjoying AoC immensly, though I wouldnt want to replay the L1-20 tutorial too many times so i am glad they have allowed us to switch it off after the first go.

The graphics are really nice. The engine is obviously top rate and will serve the game well for years. I am aware that the art direction is subjective, but imo it simply looks great. I am loving the style and I feel they convey the feel of Hyboria brilliantly.

The classes are varied and fun, and, being a fan of traditional MMORPGs (for which I make no apologies at all) they are conventional enough for me to recognise while all throwing something new into the mix. Yes, they need balancing still, but I am experienced enough to know thats a growing process all mmorpgs go through. I love grouping and I am dying to see what these classess can do at higher levels and how they mesh with each other.

The quests are... well... quests. They do exactly what it says on the tin. Yeah, I would have loved to be a truly next generation dynamic quest and encounter system, but this isnt to be this time out I guess. In the meantime, AoC is at least well writen and well acted, with the stories and flavour being all Conan.

The people I have met through this game so far have all been great. If the general player base is anything like the new people I have met so far, a few of whom I will be guilding with, I have no fears about the wider community in this game at all.

To finish, I feel AoC is a solid evolution of the genre and delivers a inspiring and exciting gameplay that has, I will be honest, got me hooked into it. I personally welcome a game that rewards player skill and investment in the way AoC has been brave enough to do. It's great to see a celebration of skill being offered, and not the celebration of mediocraty that 99% of the mmorpgs out there right now seem to be presenting.

I can honestly see me playing AoC in 1,2, or even 3 years time if they add the right content.

Listen, even in the the worst case scenario, if everything I have experienced so far is ultimatly proven to be wrong,  is that I will have paid £24.98 for a game that I will play for a month... No big deal tbh, I have blown a lot more on a lot less... My life dosent revolve around or rely or this game's success.. I really don't get all the hate and anger that is on these forums.

Where's your 5th star brotha? ;-) I wish many other posts would look like this. Honest, to the point, weighs pros and cons, good man!

Aquilonia vs. Stygia makes sence... Cimmeria doesn't fit in very well though.

I don't for 1 second pretend to be a lore buff for AoC, I just saw 3 races and though it would fit. But from the info on their site for the different races it seems rather odd some of them should be allowed to mix at all.

Keep in mind that Conan, a Cimmerian, is king of Aquilonia at this time. Sygia, while generally considered evil due to thier afiliation with Set... and certainly Thoth-Amon and Conan are enemies, but state of anything resembling war doesn't (and really couldn't) exist between the kingdoms. Cimmeria actually is a kingdom in the very loosest sence, being basically wildrness inhabihat by a collection of loosely affiliated tribes.

That is what I thought as well. Just a collection of loosely affiliated tribes.

people notice pretty fast who can play better than others and so on, so there will always be some people / guilds who will be known to battle better than others. Also tho, I wish to point out another part I think is important in the matter, how you act while helping out and how you act overall in the game. Bad reps puts a lot of ppl off from taking help. So think the ultimate is if you are a player who goes 110% into the work and treat others well. Those are the ones who going to get jobs constanly

+1 to that man =) people definitely remember someone who helped them

I definitely enjoy the game a lot, but in your defense (and from past experience with games I've had hype with), I think a lot of it is mental. Many people go into a game trying to hunt for certain flaws right off the bat, or compare certain elements of the game to others right off the bat. It's human nature, but in the grand scheme of things you create your own mental game of comparison, and yeah, that washes away the fun factor in any game.

You ever wonder why people fall just about IN LOVE with their first MMORPG? (For a lot of people that's EQ1, but mine was DAoC) It's because they have nothing to compare it to, and they're going in knowing nothing about anything regarding MMORPGs and how they're supposed to work. Everything felt like a learning experience and you wanted to use every little thing given to you to help you survive and better your character. Think about it. It's mental.

Its so hard to find a balanced post anymore because theres always somebody trying to squelch someone else.

Is there no room left for the 'everything in moderation' folks?

Its really out of hand.

It's very, very hard to find a balanced thread. You hit the nail right on the head dude.

No offence but I guess you missed all the troll posts in this thread.

Did I say it was my game? no.

I know for a fact that people who have posted in this thread have NO intention of buying the game. If you was a regular reader of the forums here you would know what I mean.

I can express myself thought thru a picture no? "Picture describes a thousand words"

Yes people can have an opinion that is not in question, its the trollish way 'some' people put it out.

You may feel that this picture is an attack, but its more of an actual representation of these people (who know who they are).

You may feel its whitty to try to attack me, but my opinion is presented in this way, if you have a problem with it, then thats your problem not mine.

G'day

Alright I gotta speak up on this one...

I also find you to be one of the more problematic members of this community with your constant trolling and attacks on people that don't agree with you, so I guess its my problem as well.  You've been doing it for as long as I've had been visiting these forums, which has been about 8 months I think. Everyone that doesn't agree with you, you attack and try to drive out, trying to squelch opinions, then you go hunting for another target to take your frustrations out on.  Though it would be best if you decided to just grow up and act like an adult on your own, you've been doing it for so long I'm not holding my breath.

I really want this game to come out soon, just so I don't have to keep seeing your damn attacks in every post that isn't titled 'AoC is incredible'.

Whatever Grunties, I remember you coming and attacking my opinon on many a thread. Am I not allowed to have an opinion on the contrary. If fact many of the opinions I have and share about AoC are back by many people. Is it my fault that I FULLY for the most part at least provide sound argument in backing my opinion up which more often than not alot better than one line non constructive posts? Is it my fault alot of trolls in the past just happen to be newly created accounts with that one flame post.

I have played several areas of this game and have had a fully enjoyable experience. Something that polls here prove to be the main experience of testers. Positive...

If that gets to people I can't help that.

NDA breaks, game hate for the sake of it piss me the fuck off. I find many people who have issues with this game lacking in presentation in a constructive way. I equally find posts that speak of issues with the game to be sound when put across 1. Respectfully and 2. Constructively.

Why would I ever agree with something I don't agree with? I dunno about you but I wasnt brought up like that. Its funny when the full facts are presented to the doomers, they just keep on repeating themselves as they have nothing more to say.

Take this thread for example. The very first post was alright I guess, but look at all the troll shit it contained. Look at all the beating a dead horse pictures in the WAR Vs WoW topic's. You know as someone interested in the game its a bit 'tiresome'.

I believe the game to be fun, enjoyable and I thoroughly enjoy my time in it. I dont press or tell people to believe what I say. On the whole most posters / readers here can make their own mind up. When they express opinion in a shitty way, well... I have an opinion too.

I wouldnt dump on someones front lawn for the sake of it.

I wish this game would hurry up and come out too, then judging for frequent posters here, I think they would be quite happy with the game on the whole. The the dickheads would stop jumping on the beta is shit bangwagon for the sake of it.

Wooooow... Go Avery. The dude should be a lawyer lol jk. Nah, I agree with you 100% man.

Let the guy enjoy life. Be happy because he's happy. No need to bring darkness over his newly rediscovered light in MMORPGs. You all wouldn't want to be knocked off your high horse would you? Lol except if someone comes at you with a polearm
