This thread brings a smile to my face. You're just like me... so observant on the nature of MMORPGs that you can almost write a "how to" book about it. Me too bro, me too. |

I am in WAR beta.. I like to beta things. I don't buy most games I beta.. WAR is one I won't buy. I honestly can't see WAR having more subs in the US than WoW.. ever but... I never thought that "Caveman" would be a good idea for a TV series either.. *ponder* oh wait.. Ya it could happen... but you need to say "I predict that two years from now:" (insert random remak) Then you can sell your prediction services.. solve "cold case" crimes etc Oh and last I heard 50% of the WoW subs come from Asia.. so where is this 70% are in asia coming from?
Lol there is no logic at all here... It's a melting pot of meaningless and non-existent numbers. You proved my point well. |

This is a meaningless thread. No backup, no evidence, no stable trend, no pattern. There is no knowledge to where gamers are going to migrate and what will cause such a migration. |

Given: Instead of skill decay (so you can only keep up the skills you use the most), allow the player to choose a set of primary, secondary, and tertiary skills in the beginning (like Daggerfall) so they have a big enough skill bank to still be whatever they want to be. I feel that skill decay takes away from the feeling of advancement, which would make grinding mobs feel empty. They need some sort of stone-slab progression system where you're able to keep building up, whether it's EQ-style AA, or the ability to take on more skills, or whatever. To add to the feeling of progression, allow these skills you chose to have an experience bar that replaces that of the general leveling bar, and every time you gain a skill-level, have stats that are related to it increase (ie. damage spell levels increase mana and intelligence, healing spell levels increase mana and wisdome, ect.) I see an amazing game here, they just can't forget about the players' sense of accomplishment and character advancement. Perhaps make some aspect of advancement unlimited =) like a way to keep getting points to distribute. Just a couple bones I threw out to you guys that I know players would like to see. |

I think Darkfall could do it. The game is like an everything bagel... FPS combat, RTS, RPG, MMO, RL |

IMO Tortage was the best part of the whole game... You know; the part where the depressing zoning and instancing hasn't revealed itself yet? |

I just wanted to kick off this post to encourage people to come on over to Vanguard's PvP server and join the fun. I've been playing VG off and on since its release and have seen many many changes, patches, ect go into effect. It just recently entered its "finished" state, and I came back after being very let down by Age of Conan. I, admittingly, was an AoC fanboi for about 2 years in anticipation for its release. I got very sucked into the hype and saw it as something that could change the face of MMORPG history, but at its stage now, Funcom is far from doing so. Although I canceled my subscription, I do plan on going back in the future when things become more functional and balanced. As for now, Vanguard is the place to be. SOE has done an excellent job (yea, I'm surprised as well) at polishing this game to a finished state, and having a very balanced and EQ-like class selection. The only thing lacking right now for it is player base, and that's why I'm here to encourage people to give VG another deserving run and see how far it has come. For those who have not tried it, do it! |

We were both totally blown away at how beautiful it was. The trees swaying in the breeze is a huge immersion factor for me, which I have sorely missed in every game since. I left VG when they made all named drops BOP. Now that Silius is thinking of reversing that decision, and if he does, then I will definitely be back. Its a great game in spite of all its naysayers.
Yea, for the most part I do. You can tell they really put DX10 to use, especially in the caves where the light shines off the rock. That's one of the main things that "wow'ed" me in AoC. However, to back up your argument too, AoC doesn't have the environment VG does (which adds to the immersion factor). I hope they bring Team PvP back. *crosses fingers* |

1. Rebuild character models (they did it for EQ2 - SOGA models) No big deal 2. Redo some of game textures - no biggie 3. Rework some of player animations 4. Re-release the game under new name "Vanguard Evolution" or something like that 5. Make free trial ------------- And beng! You have a true , red blooded MMO , huge world , and thousands of hours of fun ... Easily enough to compete with Age of Instances and beat it deep into the dust
6. Bring Team PvP back. That would honestly be enough right now for me to leave AoC and go back to VG. |

I've waited for AoC for over 2 years, and every time I log on, I always notice elements from the game that are missing that Vanguard had. My 1st MMORPG was DAoC, but once I tried VG, it gave me that "new" feeling back (mind you, this is when it was still broken). Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing AoC, because I'm still subscribed and "rolling with the punches." I didn't wait 2 years to just QQ and cancel lol. But honestly, while playing AoC, I always find myself saying "I wish it was (insert quality here) like Vanguard." Granted, AoC has better graphics and combat system, but the immersion was there in VG. The seamless world was there. The freedom was there. I left after they took away Varking, the team PvP server (Order vs. Shadow). That killed the whole game for me. Now I'm on AoC's culture PvP. |
