That is AWESOME news! They're a great studio. Cryptic, NCSoft, Mythic and maybe Funcom are the only ones I trust anymore to deliver good products. |

I couldn't get this to install during beta and it wouldn't install a few months ago but this time I think it's working. However my trial expired, odd since I never logged in.
Can someone please send me a buddy key to register so I can try this game? It looks very interesting with some depth to it.
Thank you. :) zex.sexy@gmail.com |

I think someone at Paramount or whoever owns the ST license told PE they want this to ship around the time of the new movie for tie ins, etc. and kicked their ass. "Noboby puts baby (ST) in a corner." The minute PE's sales people got the ST license they should have dropped G&H like a bad habit.
That interview from 10/19 with the execs at PE is stupid. No @#$$ ST is a big license! I'm also willing to bet if it sucks, whoever they got the rights from has an option for damages or to sue them. A certain level of quality I'm sure was stated legally somewhere and PE finally woke up and said "Holy @#$# we need to work on STO".
STO could be monster if it has depth.
Sucks though, I was looking forward to Imperator too and I know Monolith would've made it great but this established licenses are hard to pass up. I'm starting to think Roman-themed games are cursed. |

...is it really that bad? Is G&H that bad? I haven't played it but the premise sounded good.
I loved EnB but they screwed it with little depth or space to explore. That and the weird, non-unique stances everyone had in station. It was ahead of it's time with both an avatar and a ship That third person perspective in the cockpit was AWESOME. I still remember it. |

Damn SOE's a joke. #1: don't smart-ass your boss in front of the customers. Most of the videos are commercials with no real gameplay save maybe the Agency, which has "great" enemy A.I. btw (guys running up to you without shooting). They ruined SWG and EQ2 with the latter having a horrible design from the ground up (load times anyone? Bad customer service with items attached to the server, not to the player profile???).
I hear Vanguard's a joke and Sony in general as a company isn't doing so hot.

I used the torrent link Turbine gave and it all downloaded but on install, several files reported corruption. The loader opens and connects but instead of examining the install and replacing / fixing issue it just states "installation may be corrupted" and then sets a 1 minute retry timer which I don't see the use of as it just loops. |

Thanks for the info. King. I sent them a note already earlier this evening. I'll post the results so if I am getting burned, others can be spared. Alot of bad customer service floating around in the last few months. |

I'm burned out too and I agree with the difficulty finding the social aspect like I once did. I thought for awhile it was just me getting older but I think I'm looking for the right game design. Balance of depth, graphics, story, content and social make-up. I like Mythic's RvR (PvP when I choose to) approach to PvP even though I rarely do it. I think I need to find a mature guild of fun loving, team oriented people. |

Vanguard is junk run by SOE. The guy made Everquest, sold it to SOE, then made Vanguard and is doing it again. He's after a buck. Wait for EA/Mythic and Warhammer. THAT's gonna be the game...although Conan looks interesting. |

Combat should be a choice between outside the ship with floating windows for your assigned station or inside with character animation. I mean they'll have to cut to that for all those borg beam overs to the bridge and the bridge fights. This whole "being the ship" thing stinks. I want to be me IN the ship with an external camera option. I agree there will be a balance between the size of space and not taking *too* long to get from one end to the other. However, I can put up with some distance though as I think it adds detail and reality to the game. Earth and Beyond had something, albeit cartoony with avatars on the stations and the 3rd person cockpit view. I've thought for a long time if someone could develop a game that allowed you to move within the ship and repair systems while in the fight, that would be COOL. THAT to me is Star Trek / Millenium Falcon style. Finally, I enjoy team PvP the best. I like the concept of being able to pilot and use larger vessels with a team. I think the larger groups that are able to work together deserve to have a reward for that amount of team work. Hopefully it will also filter more mature players in who are willing to cover a station or task to reach the team goal. They'll have to let people have minors or 2-3 sub skillsets I think so they don't feel pigeon-holed. |

Thanks for the update! I can't wait for the player housing! Once my Master Jedi Acretian has his biomech battlemech that turns into a spanish war galleon and whips out his skill deck for hot instanced-forced-group action they'll be no stopping me!
On a lighter note, if you can name the 6 mmorpgs I *secretly* refer to above, I'll give you a prize |

Has anyone considered or discussed yet the possibility of the 2-party (carebear/pk) player base being able to spread out and fracture among all these similar yet slightly different fantasy gamse coming out? Could be easier to find a more specific similar player community to your style than it was before. The shades of gray will start to emerge. May be obvious to some but I thought I'd toss it out for discussion. |

I agree it could have been handled better. I just don't know about this company yet. I haven't given up, but...I've taken a step back to see what happens. Glad I didn't waste $60 on vaporware. |

If this was major, you guys better devote every panel on the front page to SoG from DnL when it goes live this month, sheesh. Plus, Codemasters tends to make or sponsor crap (Shadowbane). Makes me wonder about DDO. No pvp, no player made equipment, hmmm. That combat better be D-A-M-N good! Can you target body parts like in Conan? I sure hope so. |
