no offense but i really don't see the point in joining a guild before the game is even released, i mean, you might get the game and not even like it and not even want to be serious about it.

TLDR:  WoW sucks. look elsewhere

1.  Battlegrounds - be prepared to spend most of your life in here if you even want to try and compete.  There's a massive world that goes ignored while 90% of players are in here lookin for gear.

You'd be whining if there weren't any BGs at all, so it's kind of a lose-lose for Blizzard (or any developer for that matter). Nothing is ever good enough for you people. Either they don't have battlegrounds and people cry about not having things to do, or they have battlegrounds and people cry that they aren't good enough.

2.  Arenas - A failed attempt at an Electronic sport.  Even most players hate it.  Blizzard won't give it up so it's left as the major focus of the game.  Forget raiding Orgrimmar or Stormwind! hop in this cage for endless hours.

How is it a "failed attempt"? "Even most players hate it"? I feel as if you're being a little bit dramatic. It's not like you CAN'T raid Orgrimmar or Stormwind, there is just no point in it.

3.  The world is a lie.

It's a video game. Hell, what does this point even prove?

4.  You either PvP or PvE, there's no in between.  The gear you get in pve won't help you in pvp and vice versa.  At one point you could do group dungeons and pvp and both aspects were rewarded.  not anymore.

Wah, sack up and do PvE and PvP.

5.  There's just no meaningful endgame. 

Of course there's nothing meaningful - it's a video game. If you're looking for some sort of fulfillment, you probably won't find it in ANY MMO.

Nope.

i think having no death penality in wow caused me to have fun -- although death penalties in eq and ffxi were pretty funny (as long as you weren't dying), no death penalty in wow meant i could do a lot of really stupid crap that i definitely wouldn't do if there was a death penalty, like jumping off waterfalls or cliffs to my death.

the elitists that hate the "halo 3 and wow kids" are more annoying than anyone else.

I agree that AoC has some pretty awesome visuals (the only problem I have with it is the way they run.. it looks kinda gay).  But they are almost guaranteed to run into a brick wall of LAG when it comes to massive warfare.  I'd rather have WAR gameplay and graphics and a whole lot less lag than "hair waving in the breeze."

Maybe, maybe not, depends on the type of system you have and how you can deal with the graphical lag - the latency shouldn't be an issue. I'd rather play something with slight graphical lag now and again rather than play something that runs smooth, has been done before, and looks like a snoozefest.

It's pretty difficult to find an unbiased opinion on this forum, so maybe you should just play both of them and see what you think is different.

However, part of me thinks that this is just a poor attempt at trolling, seeing as how you've already:
a) figured out that you believe you are more part of the story in LotRO
b) said you feel more detached while playing WoW

it is coming out for BOTH the PC and the Xbox 360; PC first, Xbox 360 some time later. Someone already mentioned FFXI and seeing the success of that on multiple platforms is encouraging for the future of AoC (assuming it's good)... plus, I just think it'll be more fun on a console because it seems more like a hack and slash rather than a traditional "hit 1 to auto attack".
