Has the McQuaid cult died out now?
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 7/28/07 5:37:55 PM
The OP was mildly funny with his initial thread, and i am being very generous. I think we do get it here Agricola1, you are not a fan of Brad McQuaid and you are not a fan of Vanguard. This is great, we applaud you. Now why dont you go and post on a forum that you care about. Why wont people let this die?????? I was LOVED EQ and when i found out that two of the main developers for EQ were in charge of Vanguard i was VERY excited about the game. Perhaps even a Vanboi. Sadly the game did not turn out the way people were hoping, and that is a sad thing. Why on earth would anyone who likes MMORPGs want a game to fail at launch as badly as Vanguard did. This is not good for the genre, this could make other developers a little worried about giving it a try. I want every game that comes out to do well, i may not be interested in playing them but i do want them to do well. This generates more interest in the genre by game developers. Hell, i even want WoW to do well (It hurt saying that). I for one hope that Brad doesnt crawl away and hide. He is a fantastic game developer, apparently not so good as the leader of the project, but a great developer. I would not mind seeing him in charge of a development team for a new game in the future, as long as someone else is controlling the money and management. |

World of Warcraft - Not on top MMO's list?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 7/20/07 5:18:01 AM
Originally posted by cvgordyThat statement in red made me throw up a little in my mouth. WoW isnt a bad game at all, in fact it is very good for what it is, a VERY casual, user friendly, no fear MMO that anyone can jump into and have a pretty decent time. It isnt however the greatest game ever created, most played i'll give you but not greatest. You are right that WoW could kill MMOs, but for a different reason. Since WoW came out and went all mainstream (that is not good by the way) and made a ton of money im afraid most companies will want that money too and just make WoW clones vis being creative and creating a new/fresh game. Hopefully some of the new games on the horizon will feed a different type of player, Conan and Warhammer look like they may have a chance but then so did Vanguard. And WoW players do know about MMORPG.com, at least they sure did when it was the flavor of the month and sitting on the top of the game chart. Funny how now that it isnt anymore it must be because WoW players dont come to the board. |

Only one video but that was a very sweet video. Max level characters and there was nothing pretty about them at all, you have to love that. Well, at least i love that. Hopefully the entire game will steer away from that pure fantasy, massively ornate armor and weapons. I have to question the Necromancer though. He has eight pet points and he can spend them on 8 scorpions or 1 half naked demoness and he chooses the scorpions????? |

I thought that they all looked horrible except for the griffon. |

EQ2 gets bashed by people playing WoW, Vanguard gets bashed by pretty much everyone, SWG gets bashed by people who are still pissed about what happened years ago, etc etc. And to answer your first question, People bash WoW because they do not like WoW. |

Why does Alliance lose 90% of all PvP matches?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 7/18/07 5:59:44 AM
No, i was not being ironic, just stupid.
I truely hate Paladins (in all games) so i figured i would lay the blame at their feet. I am a Shadowknight at heart. |

Why does Alliance lose 90% of all PvP matches?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 7/18/07 5:42:30 AM
This is a good question. Why does the Alliance lose so much. I think the answer to this question is: The Paladin. How can you expect to win a fight if you have Paladins, they just suck so bad. And dont get me wrong on this WoW folks, im not busting on the WoW Paladin, im busting on all Paladins. |

LOTRs may be a fantastic game, i wish them the best of luck. It kept my interest for about 2 days. |

Originally posted by Goldknyghtyes, i saw the part about Oblivion, i havent played Oblivion though. I would just hate to see Conan in the state Vanguard is in because the requirements were way too high. Yes, i know that is not the only problem with Vanguard, and probably not even the biggest by far anymore. Yes, October not September my bad. Question still holds true though i think. 3.5 months until release and they are just now sending BETA invites still seems a bit tight. As for 3. Liking boobs and dancing around on mailboxes all day for tips (cough WoW Blood Elves cough) are not he same things. I will certainly not run away from a topless female avatar but i wont be making one to play either. I could be way off but im guessing that the percentage of topless women in the game of Conan being played my males will be much higher then the percentages being played by women. And i would also bet that same percentage of males will be under the age of say 17. Im just praying that we dont have a whole world that reminds me of the Barrens.

I was really not very interested in this game but the more i read about it and saw videos the more interested i have become. I have a few worries about it though and thought i would post a couple questions for those of you who have been following the game closely. 1. Are the PC requirements going to be as intense as Vanguards are? I can play Vanguard (Barely) with the PC i have, I do plan on upgrading quite a bit by the end of the year though. I am a little afraid that Conan is going down the same road Vanguard did and is creating a game that a small population of gamers can actually play. 2. Will this game actually make it out by the end of this year? I think they just opened up Beta invites so a September release seems a bit quick. 3. This is my most important question and the one that worries me the most. The mature rating scarred me a little bit at the beginning, now we have blood, severed heads etc, and now they have stated in a video that there will be partial nudity in the game (i.e. topless women and perhaps even topless avatars). Now i have no problem with these things but im afraid that hey might be the death of the Conan community. These aspects of the game are not going to draw the mature players as much as they are going to draw the kids. Now im not trying to start a fight here with the kiddie talk. Im just very afraid that the world of Conan will be full of 15 year old boys who have created women so they can run around topless. And please dont say it has a mature rating so teens should not be playing it, we all know that that is a crock. I know how old i was when i saw my first R rated movie and i have teenage kids so i know that doesnt hold water.
Anyway, just some questions and concerns. It does look like it could be a very cool game. And i need one badly since Vanguard does not seem to be working out. I have played pretty much all the big ones and sadly have found nothing that keeps my interest since EQ1 and DAOC. I have hopes for Conan and perhaps to a lesser extent Warhammer. Only time will tell. |

Yes, this game that you have never played is really shitty. You have a valid point, the 1 minute video that you saw had to have shown you everything that the game offers. Its a minute long, what could be missing? It is tragic that they didnt show anyone jumping. We all know that as developers go getting a video with jump in it is way up on the list. I think i may smell a Warhammer fan (Not that that is bad). |

Milestone # 2 Preview...Perma flying mounts!
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 7/10/07 1:39:27 AM
I read, i rarely post. For you i have to post. God you suck!!! If you hate Vanguard and all SOE games as much as you say you do why do you spend all your time on their forums?????? For the love of god, go play whatever game you like and leave the ones you dont alone. Do you truely believe that you will make people not want to play Vanguard with your posts??? Perhaps the intelligence of your arguements (Vantard) will win over the masses but im thinking no.
Now a question for all. Why cant people actually want to play this game? Why cant people be interested on whether the game is improving or not? Why must we all hate Vanguard and SOE and the Smed just because some of you do?
Ok, back to reading.

My favorite rant ever. Actually Sony always owned Verant, so Sony always owned EQ. You can read up on this history by pretty much just typing Verant into google and see what comes up. It still cant figure out why people dont get that. Qeynos is SonyEQ backwards you know. Perhaps that is just a coincidence though. And EQ went down hill after Luclin. That is an opinion but i dont agree. There were some good things about Luclin. Bazaar was not one of them, port books were not one of them (I was a Druid) but there were some fun areas to hunt in. Besides, when Luclin came out EQ had been running for 3 years which is not a bad run for an MMO. By the way, it is still going at it is at 8 years now. I guess some people dont think it was ruined.
And good point with the PS1 and PS2 being failures. I guess that was because everyone i knew had one.
In closing, Sony/SOE is not the devil. They may have made changes to a game that you didnt like, but it was their game you know, not yours. I could be wrong but i am guessing that they made these changes thinking they would be good. |
