Wow is a good game at its core , i just dislike blizz. They do not give a shat about the players (classes are not even close to being balanced in any form)  They keep adding more and more equipment that  benifits certain class over others (without thought ot testing for this) . They make changes without identifing the impact they will have. And while wow at its core is a ok game, the shared leveling areas,  smae classes,  nothign to do but raid, and weak sause pvp  leave it an ok game to play but far from a great game.  Great games are easly identifiable by watching peoples vids of them, if a person just vids themself for 10 minutes edits down to 2-4 and maybe adds a simple sound track and the ame looks sweet it is. Why becuase wows vids are only interestign when they include 20 people and do a ton of editing and movie making with them. It PVP is bland i am never liek wow that guy did great, its alwasy hes stacked gj for him ... not interesting. Now watch some DAOC vids and you will see some sweet vids , same with many fps.  

I maintain wow is popular becuase of the sheer numbers of peopel who where like omgz blizzqrd must buy blizzard games , thus many people did , and so did their friends and all of them were playing and their freinds wanted to play it with them too so they went out and bought it also. That and its a good game if it sucked bad people just wouldn't play but its ok and there are a shit load of noobs in it.

PS i got exp. Muds, BBSs, UO, DAOC, 10six, F you name it i played it.

Its funny tho atm i am playing wow but for an odd reason ... i love making my own UI's . (brings me back to the days of my master codes in muds.)

HEHE daoc has had 200 people fighting ... after a bit it does get laggy but i think it takes liek 300+ to do it.

Yeah do, with the US servers you can go to anyserver on them (your character can move freely between servers and there is most often one or two servers that have good population. I leveled non stop with groups in one of them... classics are great too its really the same as regular but w/o toa , i personally liek toa so... but its fun to play on them).

Currently i find it easy to get groups , however, not on the last trial i know of becuase it did not include catacombs which ment you coudl not task dungeon. This is the primary form of leveling currently.

Good startign classes are  (in order):

Midgard- Valks,  Skald, bonedancer, Thanes
Hibernia- Vampiirs, mentalist, wardens(i hate these tho my first 50 too).
Albion- Friars, Heritics, sorcs, reavers, mintrels.

For all sides the primary healers also get groups the easiest.
Mid- Healer (shamans get grousp well also, buffer class). Valks also are ok healers for small groups stuff.
Hib- druids, bards get grousp aslo chanter/buffer/healer
Alb- clerics, friars can gets groups but they are more of a fighter class then ehalign , heritics also.

I am not currently playign just becuase i did so for four years and need a break.

Silkakc, thank you for the info. There you go, the survey does include all those games that no one really gives a about. Other then then 104 million people who play them :) We can be sure as heck they don't kill people over losing phat loot like, we do in mmorpgs. MMORPGs are serious, those online Yahoo games are not employing cities full of Chinese game-workers. Those 1 hour creation time ,  those etch-a-sketch graphic games got nothing on MMos.
So if you want to cry and prattle feminist BS , then go ahead, but please do it in-regards to Yahoo advertisement, heaves no the guys will miss that. Or even better on line poker for the ladies.. Or whatever your issues seems to be Shae, i hope its resolved. But only someone totally blinded by ideology and most prejudice, would ignore the fact that mmorpgs are heavily dominated by males. Now if your issue is that it shouldn't be and that no one is making games girls like, then go make one yourself and stop Bi***ing at others to do it for you.

OMG more girls play with dolls , those oppressive women and there evil socialization of poor little boys. It like a giant circle the mothers tell the boys they have to be strong and insensitive , but at the same time they complain about their husband who is that way. IT IS A CONSPERICY, AHHHhhhhh....

OK really, sorry to go through so many loops I just do not understand how some people take the idea and movements to become equal and then use them to support inequality.  I agree this is important  for the "lame" online gaming /ad. sites, that about it. As for MMO's they do not care who they attract just if they do, and as for the females in them, Great, i can remember when UO was on the downfall and DAOC was was starting and how if you where "female", you got tons of shit for free. OK yeah its lame , true, but still today whens the last group in WoW or DAOC, or EQ been like sorry but your a girl we are not taking you and your hot avatar's body out to exp..... (there you have it, I have never seen it done and im a bit older then most mmorpg players, so I have seen a lot).

However, I agree there is a growing population of female game players; its larger then the growing population of male doll players, which is going down with the decrease in action figures. Males must not be sensitive or imaginative enough to play with them. Lets face the facts there is a biological and genetic difference between the genders. Physically and mentally however that doesn't concluded only males can play "real" online games, no one said this. If you read the posts in this thread, what they are saying, is that many of the females the survey lists are playing Yahoo-ish games, which IS ture. Yet you go off male bashing, no offensive Shae, but I think you got this one wrong.

That being game co.s would be well off trying to appeal to both females and males, they can make more money, however, at the moment a total focus on this for large game companies would HURT their profits. And if females or males like something: clothing , game, hair style, go ahead and get it, but don't try to say more guys get their nails done then girls. I guess we could include biting and clipping one's nails in the worst way imaginable as getting one's nails done, that would help the % for the guys; but it would be misleading. That being said i feel the prospective is not that of a male but of a mmorpg player who would think of online games as mmorpgs, not shockwave/java/whatever programs.

PS. not attacking , but confronting because i love the truth.  (The truth teh males sell of course, duhh...)

Edit - i also want to see hot bodies on the guys, i mean come on where are the mad abs.

Lock were a good class not greater then most hibs caster or sorc or thruegs , before any of the nerfs ... now after the nberfs they are a heal bot ... a weak and sorry heal bot, i stoped playign mine before the first nerf even why?? my dark sm was way more deadly.

TOA si not hard or even that time consuming anymore the hardest part about toa is just expign the darn thigns now.. and on classic u exp your champ weapon anyway (well champ exp) but still you have to masterlevel which can take time. but don't feel u can't go to a toa server they are not as bad as most think (becuase they have not try ed them lately)

But stillc lassic is better i feel caster are less op.

One thing about doac ... there are a TON of classes and spell /spec lines. so there are a ton of things one could play.

AS for midgard , for best solo ability pick a valk . start as a fighter (whatever its called) they are great with shields and or swords (1 and two hand) plus they can heal themselves very well in and or out of combat. Also a great pvp toon.
Bonedancers are also good but alot of restign power with them ... pick a valk.
WArlocks are great mid solo caster, becuase they can power regen buff themselfs and lifetap to get hp back, but they been nerffed to heck and well are not worth playign to rvr at 50 anymore.


AS for hibernia. Vampires are the most noob friendly toon EVER. why they nuke/heal/tap while in combat. and they are ALWAYS buffed . (these guys get there power (think mana) from goinf damage so the more ya hit a person or mob the more u can heal yuorself , nuke the mob etc. Even ebtter in daoc you use enduence to do weapon style (which hit twice if not more as hard as unstyled hits) well the vampier steel a enemies end and give it to themselves (it costs a bit of power but you get that back just by using the style and doing more damage) . downside this class is viewd as a loner class, which si odd becuase it works well in groups, not at lvl 50 tho , but great start toon and a great toon for farm money with.

Also in hib valewalkers are a great toon the solo quite well but they are one of the harder toons to use well so id stay away from it.

Also in hib mentalists are a great solo caster , start off mana (dots and hots) and youll get a power regen spell liek the lock (but its castable on friendlies) and once mana to about 24 switch to light . Off the bat youll have to double dot a target and then keep away from ti while it dies takes a little bit of work but it works (maybe use a few base line weak nukes) then once your light starts getting higher you can use spec nukes from the light lien to hit alot more. .. also u coudl split mana and light spec most peopel will tell you to NEVER do this with  a caster and they are often right... but menties are allowed to :) At high levels can charm well.


AS for albiaon.... Friars are NOW even MORE PIMP then before they hit ahrd with a two handed staff, can heal themselfs buff themslefs,  nice style procs heals and dds , they evade attacks like mad , and nice abs if specd right. Great farmign toon and easy to use toon , and work well in groups.

also albs, reavers are ok soloers becuase they get hp tapping styles and hp tap spells and hp tab weapon proc buff , so they can healthemselves ok , but no active heals so they are just a ok soloer, but one of the better pvp toosn and fun toon all around.

Aslo albs , hertics , these crazy toons can tank and hit ok , or tnak and nuke ok . soem buffage and tankage and pick between nukage or hittage. good toon but i really don't care much for them.

AS a caster in alb SORCS are Gods everyoen will tell you ... becuase its true.  i also split spec witht hem a bit. you can power regen yourself , lifetap , charm a pet (which is a great charm as once you charm him hes yours until you let him go or he dies) (but i always loved charming healing pets or nukign pets , like 1 sorc and 1 reaver is a GREAt combo ... why there are no heals .. well if you charma  pet that heals it will heal not only himself and you but your GROUPMATES , and they often buff yourgroupmates also, but casters and ehalers are rare but tehre are site that list them). Sorcs lifetap is also one of the most powerful nukespells in the game, they also have aoe mezz at BOLT range , they lso have well they are the perfect caster so you can do anythign you want with a sorc.

IN alb just for fun if ya want make a thurg , they stuck to solo level however spec ice or air or even earth will do but id do ice or air, and take him toa  battleground , anylevel and just spam your pets on him (they have castable short duration attack pets no matter what u send it on if ya get 5-7 off which u most likly will its dead , u just totaly ganked a person gratz.  But they are a PAIN to lvl , so id jsut make one to liek 5-10 or somethign and gank away ina  bg if not try to egt one to 24 ther eare tons of people in thiranike the 20-24 lvl bg .
