I would play a MMO with Commander Keen style graphics if the gameplay was superb!

I would not play a MMO that had outstanding, amazing graphics if the game was no fun.

There needs to be another way for players to socialize besides forced grouping.  Oh so many people are soured on grouping because of so many wasted hours being unable to progress in a game because you are stuck LFG.

Whatever game that comes out that allows a player to do 100% of the content solo and also provides a system for socialization, interaction (a place to show off your achievements) will dominate the market.  And I don't mean all instanced either!  You want to be able to see another player working on the same objectives as you along the way, but some instancing may be necessary to eliminate chokepoints or spawn camping.

I don't care how great the developers think their game is, but if I read about it and it says "PvP" or "raiding", it is immediately marked off my list. And if you think I am alone in this - LOL at you.  Just because this forum is PvP biased doesn't mean the silent majority is.

The MM is MMORPG simply means "massive multiplayer".  In layman's terms, it means it is a big world with lots of players.  Somewhere along the way someone decided that MM meant "forced grouping".

Sure, it's fun to play with a group and take down a powerful objective - but it's far worse when I can't do anything without the help of others.  Hours spent "looking for group" when I could be playing solo in some other game.  Why is it that I cannot accomplish something in a game unless I have X number of people who want the same objective, are on at the same time as I am and are not complete jerks?

That is why there is such a shift to solo playability.  It only takes one idiot to make hundreds of people quit playing a game, and that's lost revenue for developers.

Classes suck.  Plain and simple.  Force me to choose between classes and I will take the last option every time... I won't buy your game.

Until developers get this through their heads and stop forcing us into the holy trinity scenario, I will keep on playing Dream of Mirror Online.  At tleast there I am not limited to one class, plus it's free which is a bonus.

In the past I've played:

-Maple Story. I stopped because it was 2D and I didnt find it entertaining

-Mabinogi. I really like this game, but I cant decide what to level up in

I guess thats it :\  PLEASE SUGGEST

Try Dream of MIrror Online. It is free but does have a cash shop for you to buy things like pets, costumes, consumables, resets, etc.  Battling is so-so, not the greatest and certainly not the worst.   Very beginner friendly and a helpful community if you get stumped.  Good graphics IMO, your mileage may vary. You can make your own clothes.  Hmmm, most cool things come from the cash shop but it's not overpriced.

But to clarify for you that I do understand computers I will let you know that I have been building my own PCs probably before most of you were born and did it commercially in a business that I started and have since sold (for more than you will make in your lifetime).  And as for being broke... all I can say is LOL, no really... ROFL.   I spend money wisely, it's probably why I have what I have.

Remember kids, you aren't being clever when try to belittle someone... especially if you don't even know who you are talking about.

With the release of newer games and the exponential PC requirements, I don't feel games are good enough to warrant me plunking down $1500 every year or 2 just to be able to play a game (MMO or otherwise).  Assassin's Creed, Age of Conan for 2 examples... both have very high system requirements if you want the game to look as it is intended (or even load).

Console games on the other hand, may lack features of PC games (or may not) but at least I know for dang sure the game I get for a console will run just fine.  I can spend $1000 and get both an Xbox 360 and a PS3 and be able to play every game that comes out for those consoles.  Already have a 47" 1080p TV so that is a non-issue there.

Make games that are fun, not graphically overloaded games that are pretty to look at but totally boring to play.

These do not go hand in hand...I call BS.

Awww you got me... I made it all up.  None of it is true, there aren't any decent people playing any MMOs these days.  /sarcasm off

My post  OBVIOUSLY was not directed at you.  Funny how you took the time to post twice and say something negative... kids these days - sheesh.

It's a free game with excellent gameplay, lots and lots of features, well worth checking out if you are a casual MMO player.  Definitely not for the hardcore.  Some features are:

- No PvP that I know of other than dueling that you can set to autodecline (hooray!)

- Many classes you can choose from and you can switch from class to class at any time without a penalty

- Pets that help you fight (temporary are free, item mall sells permanent ones)

- Good community.  Been playing 3 weeks and have only seen one "Leeeeeroy Jenkins" idiot).

- Very social game that gives bonus skills for making friends in game

- Free to play but does have an item mall.  Nothing they sell really gives you an advantage, it's mostly cosmetic things like costumes or extra bag space, pets, consumables, etc.

- Very in depth crafting system although gathering can be tedious (but when is it not?)

Go check it out if you think it might be something you'll like.  If not, why bother posting in this thread?

This gamed failed after the first concept meeting...  free and open PvP with very few rules?  Har Har Har

These games attract a VERY, VERY small crowd and not nearly enough to pay the bills. The millions and millions of PvE'ers won't go near this game.

The reason so many MMOs fail is that they force you to compete with every other player.  Forced to compete for titles, ranks, gear drops, quest drops.  The masses just aren't into that.

Give us a game where I can socialize but I do not feel I have to compete.  I want to have FUN, yes I said the word FUN.  I want a game to be entertainment, not a job... not a chore... not an obsession.  The way games are made today, it is a race to end game.  Why?  Because if you start WoW today you are all alone, you have nothing to do besides grind your levels to get where everyone else is.

Why can't we have a game where levels don't matter?  Why can't we have a game where a player who just started yesterday can't go out and do the same sort of things that a player who has been playing for 2 years?  (Not exactly the same tasks, dungeons, etc... but things like being able to gather craft materials, craft weapons he can use and are better than vendor bought... etc etc.

Every game is grind your levels and kill, kill, kill then kill some more mobs.  Why can't I be a merchant?  Why can't I be a cook?  Why can't I earn experience by singing in the tavern?  Why can't I do other things besides kill 100 bears and bring back 5 bear teeth? /sigh...

The $50 for the client pays for the years of development cost of the game.  The game company is perfectly within their rights to recoup those costs which are substantial.

You should also be able to try the game out before you buy the client, which is why most game companies today offer a free trial.  If you like the game after the free trial then you can buy the client.

The monthly fee pays for the ongoing development of the game, the huge bandwidth costs, and for the server maintenance costs, plus any other expenses involved in running an online game.

Games which do not charge a monthly fee have other ways of recouping their expenses.  No company is going to pay you to play their game.

I see.  You're saying you don't mind paying for the client only to find out the game is crap.  Your $50 goes to help pay for the development of game you aren't going to continue playing past the 30 days that came with the client purchase.  Brilliant, just brilliant.

...if you expect me to pay you a monthly fee to play your game.  There are so many crap games being made today that it is a huge waste of money for players to buy the client for $50+ USD only to find out the game sucks horribly and does not deliver what was promised.

It has gotten so bad lately that I only look for free trials of games or games that are based on micro transactions.

So make a quality game, give the players what you tell them you will give them in the game and give us the client for free.  If we like it we will continue to play and give you our subscription fees. If we don't, well... stop making crap games.

As it is in real life, so it is in video games.

As long as there is more than one race, there will be racism.  If there was only one race, we'd find another reason to hate each other.

Nope.  Based on the posts on this and other forums, I have absolutely zero interest in this game.  It will be filled with immature youth and that alone outweighs any feature the game may or may not have.  It was bad enough when I played WoW...

LOL, the viewpoint of an elitest and oh so the minority. You must like being lonely.  From a business standpoint (which is what drives MMOs in the first place), they would much rather have the 9 million pajama clad 30 year old teenagers (your words) instead of the paltry 250k elitests who drive off everyone not like them.

This is the first game I have been excited about in a very long time.  The fact that there is no PvP other than the coliseum is a HUGE plus for the game.  I've been online since 1983, back when it was still called ARPANET and not "internet", back when black text on a gray background was your only option...and have played more games than you can imagine so my experience is significant.

An evolving world sounds fantastic but hopefully we will be able to evolve, enhance and improve our characters along the way as well.  Being able to do so brings the "attachment" feeling to your character and makes you want to continue playing that much longer.

I'm eager to see your progress and certainly look forward to the beta process.
