Lag? Pfft
Fallen Earth « Fallen Earth

Besides the fact that this game has amazing graphics optimization, unless your in a hub on the weekends most people dont encounter lag as much as you may think.

I can currently run this game, on fully maxed out settings and at 4x AA - at anywhere from 60FPS in town to 200+ in the wilds, combat is no exception and it is as smooth as butter. However, that's only on my new comp.

On my 8 year old beast graphic design computer I can still get 30+ FPS in combat with no frame skipping or unfair freezing/hitching/client lag in combat, of course the setting are around medium to low. But the point remains:

If you are experiencing large amounts of lag it could be a number of issues not related to the game.

EXAMPLE: If I run this game on my new comp, without SLi running I get 5-6FPS in town and 20+ in wild on max settings.

Screenies -

Crowded Town

Directly outside of Town

hmm raid only stat eh? Ill have to read up on that, thx for infos.

Being a big fan of pre MoM raids (Rift pre nerf) and having a rather heavy investment in this game I will of course be subbing up shortly after the x pack is released.

So my question (to any that may be testing or heard info):

How do the newer encounters (wipe mechanics, lore, and overall gameplay) stack up to some of the very difficult content we encountered in the game so far?

Pretty much my favorite aspect of LotRO is its high end raid challenges, it feels different from WoW, and I grow tired of the usual WoW mechanics.

EDIT: As of now WoW will prolly be going off my playlist, I dont have any real reasons to re sub, and my cousin and old guild switched servers, so a month fee + 25$ switch just doesnt feel worth it until next x pack draws nearer.

Little to NO crafting(atleast we havent learned much about it).

No "massive world"(mainly instanced from what I have read).

I don't think you know what you're talking about, I'd go as far to say you're lying. But carry on.

then read up on the game......Cant confirm crafting but expect  a very instanced world

This was rly the news I was hoping I wouldnt see....more Jedi classes, really?

The more and more I learn about this game the less excited I am :(

I was so pumped at first when this game was "leaked"

Since this post got me looking at lots of Tolkien artwork (inclusing copies of his original doodles) I think I know what I dont like ....it might not be the "armor" but more so the unrealistic body structures and faces.

Great pics indeed Bloodworth, I enjoy all of those images, and the original books / artwork is what I am referring to. Its obviously subjective but the pics you showed really felt like Tolkiens world, the armor in game I feel does not even resemble the original art at all.

Environment gpx are mouth watering, but the armor seems way way off in Tolkiens world...which is proilly why I raid then quit...then raid then quit....then raid then quit, I never like my armor sets :(

Dude its not that big of a deal OP:

CCP is upfront about their SUBSCRIPTION NUMBERS, not their alt accounts

so they HAVE 300k subs give or take a few thousand, they have STATED THIS.

so your telling me EVERYONE who plays EVE has 3 accounts or more?

lol @ you

Sounds like my type of gamer OP, your in for a treat.

Basically take your time, do the starter turtorial (after the first "instanced" one) and it really makes you realize all the shit you can do (regarding crafting ect.) with the games depth.

No player built cities yet, but cities have faction warfare.....in terms of faction endgame PvP the devs have a lot cookin.

Also theres over 5.5k quests and counting, never feel confined anywhere, go explore!

(For example I went pure crafter for my char - however - I still use good melee weapoons, pistols, and rifles all at the same time depending on the combat situation, and in no way am I "gimped" in any of them, its frankly friggin awesome!)

Also since I have been just harvesting/crafting so much I am proud to say im almost ready to make my first motorcycle before im even level 14!

to OP: Yes on NA servers this is how the community is 90% of the time as well, unless you find a few cool people.

lol oh god this is getting funny, no point in explaining the truth.

Direct quotes from the report:

Outlook
· In Q3, the Company implemented cost reduction
initiatives involving head count reductions, forced
leaves and other cost reductions that will reduce
monthly operating costs of around 400 TUSD with
effect from December 2009.
· From June 2010 the company expects monthly
cash outflows relating to hosting, bandwidth and
lease of servers to be reduced by 350-400 TUSD.
· As announced previously, the Company will reduce
its cost of development by transferring a
proportionally larger share of its development to
lower cost countries. The Company currently has
25 employees in its Montreal office, where the
government offers strong financial incentives to the
game industry. The Company also has over 50
employees in Beijing, China.

AND

The Company ran a successful re-evaluation
campaign during July, increasing the number of
subscribers to the game. However, the launch of
two major competing MMO-games during Q3 led to
a subsequent reduction in subscriber levels.

See? simple as that.....

Cheaper production and loss of subs....not looking good for Funcom

Sorry, but Thillian has a FAIR point!

This is a Q3 report!!

AION was released 22 - 25th of September. At the very end of Q3 !!

So if AION's launch affected AoC (and respectively other MMO's), then it will be for Q4!! NOT Q3!!

So this article either needs to be rectified or removed!  As it's false. Pure and simple!

Cheers

HEY STOP POSTING BEFORE YOU READ THE QUARTLY REPORT

FUNCOM STATES IN THIS REPORT AOC SUB NUMBERS WERE LOST DUE TO 2 MAJOR MMO's RELEASING

READ IT BEFORE YOU POST

Okay Thillian, take a deep breath and read their report as I have done, in full.

It specifically states that there was a loss in AoC sub numbers, due in part to 2 major MMO's (Aion/FE) in this time peroid....now now before you say anything READ the REPORT.

This isnt some paid article, he simply copied and pasted what their report says.

I thik the first step to combating this problem is simple: Transaction regulations on box sales.

My point is that someone is buying all these accts, and you bet the company can track down certain sales and where they originate, and if they cant that seems pretty silly to me.

Oh silly Funcom, AoC is bombing (I really dont mind AoC at all, have two 60+ chars)....

and all they are betting on is moving to cheap countries (trust me read report)

and the "hype" for the secret world? I think they forgot how "hyped" age of conan was...its not about box sales its about sub levels over time, which is why AoC is doing nothing for them now.

God damnit....all that article made me think of was how I want to play Shadowbane.

You can diss it all you want, but it is in my opinion the most inventive MMO ever made.

"But Frankly..most of them Suck"

What a mature guy, considering he has made multiple MMO's suck.
