Most MMOs turn off collision detection for characters to prevent specific individuals from blocking key points and spoiling the area of the game for the rest of the players around. As-well as clogging up major cities when a specific server reaches "Heavy" or "Full" status and about 100 people are all in after the goods vendor to sell their useless crap and loots.
However, maybe AoC will incorporate detection but also play smart with it.. a'la only activating it in cities or something. |

When you enter the MMO world.. take ANY MMO and apply this.. you'll notice right off the bat the teenagers who have figured out their actions online play little to concequences in reality.. you'll find alot of immaturity and misbehavior.. which will most likely immediately lead you to believe the gaming genre, especially the MMO is filled with 12-16 year olds with no decency. However thats not the case.. they just pop up the most and are easily noticed. In actuality the average age is around 25-28 where players are still a gamer-kid at heart.. but also have the job and capability to finance such a hobby..

Ah, but did you notice SoE still has a huge resonating outcry of the public from their destruction of SWG? People have all but mostly forgotten about Earth and Beyond (what a good game it was in it's time..) but with SWG.. its coming on YEARS.. not just a year.. or a few months later.. but years and people are still screaming as loud as they can.. throwing fits at SoE and spewing hatred about them. SOE has the throne to hell right now, EA is just sitting next to it with a studded leather collar and a leash tied to a bloody stake. They're no better.. but EA definantly isn't worse.. they do share the same room though.. and both are equally corrupt earning their spots. /shakefist |

Man i miss this game... I miss the Coronet starport, and going back with friends to Kor Vella to have small parties to remember the days we were all new and began there.. those that weren't.. still participated anyways for the sake of memories.. I remember giving buffs at the Coronet starport and receiving a tell out of the blue "You're a doctor right? Alright.. so can a Wookiee and a bothan get it on..?" Started one awesome friendship i won't ever forget... Those were truly better times.. |

pre-CU CH... although it needed some work and was redundant and overpowered.. not to mention exploited.... i loved it. Even just getting my very own Kaadu or Kupa without having CH skills. |

SOE wanted change. Lucas Arts wanted change. They both signed on it and SOE changed the game. Lucas Arts went sour on the changes and SOE denied any faults. A huge internal conflict resulted and scarred public relations for good on the game's title. Most of the blame went to SOE as it was the development company.
Both are responsible, but the reason i defend LA is the fact that they backed up and got angry at SOE for not trying to correct what happened to the NGE.
Every company makes mistakes. No company is perfect, just as no individual person is perfect in this world. No matter how much we'd like to believe otherwise. So we must contend and deal with those we are given. Like stated, Lucas Arts owns Star Wars.. so if we want to see anything Star Wars again... we must support ol' George and his company to produce more. So Naturally... SOE would grab the blame. SOE did alot wrong.. so don't leave them out of the blame... both were equally placed wrong.. but LA did ask for change.. and SOE has hardly answered that request. |

Really now, folks. With Blizzards reputation and the extreme success of World of Warcraft. How can you honestly scream "WoW Killer!" at everything that pops up on the charts. Truthfully? There probably will be no World of Warcraft killer. Its the most honest truth you can find in all of this BS. No, i'm not a WoW Fan, or addicted to the game... i've played it... i've subscribed and unsubscribed... but I also know of WoW's subscriber numbers. Like i said in another post on these forums... WoW is in it's golden age. Its a mature game. Its no longer new and exciting to the masses. Its just whats out there to play right now, and with its historic reputation involving the gaming community... it won't die because of one particular event in the gaming industry. World of Warcraft has already begun its fall into oblivion, but don't get upset and scream at me for saying that. You don't have to worry, as it won't be gone for a very good while. Its going to be around for a bit longer.. so you've still got plenty of time to play.

Mounts should be attainable at level 1 now....
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 7/08/07 9:42:29 AM
Personally? If a player has a character thats hit level 40 or maxed out, they should be allowed mounts at an early level on their other characters... but in my opinion... not until level 10. Why? Because do you honestly need a mount at level 1? At level one you're running around killing level 1-3s who are within a foot's distance of your quest NPC. There is NO need for one at that stage in the game. By the time you're level 10 you've just begun to make long treks for quests, and around 10-20 you begin wandering into different territories. Thats when the mount can come in handy. So 10 sounds fair and reasonable. Who cares if you can afford the mount at level 1 because your 70 has mith farmed for the past six weeks and owns over 1.5k gold. You still don't need the mount! By the time you've mounted the creature, taken the two steps to your quest and dismounted... you've already wasted enough time to have walked there, completed the quest, and made it back already! But hey.. you've got a mount right? |

Why wow will continue to rule all others!
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 7/08/07 9:24:13 AM
Like others have stated, WoW will no doubt feel some pain when the coming MMOs are released. But it definantly won't be "Killed" not for a little while at least. All great things will eventually come to an end, and although i'm no World of Warcraft addict or as put 'fanboi' i do know a behemoth when i see one. WoW is a pretty damn good MMO and i can't lie.. the subscription numbers speak for themselves. However, like stated in the first sentence.. all huge and great things have an ending.. just like everything else. It will continue to float, but i'm sorry to say i believe it has already hit the iceberg. However, unlike the Titanic.. WoW will sink at a very much slower pace.. Its just going to take some time. WoW has matured, its got an expansion pack, and is well known. Thousands upon thousands upon thousands have hit 70 and played over the origional game and the expansion pack. its been exploited and farmed. its base *horde* content (har har) has been seen time and time again. At this point.. its fair to call World of Warcraft a golden-aged game. Its seen its rounds, and is in the best days of its life. A nice subsctiption level, a good cash flow, an easy life, and calm waters on development... but just as we human beings retire and live the easy life from the hub of the busy work-life... soon we get older... and older.. and become too old to attract the gaming base's attention. World of Warcraft was the right game for the right time. When there was little else to play and SWG was on the down-fall.. Blizzard launched WoW and took the MMO market by a sweeping kick. A perfect business move, whether they knew it or not. Its what put the game at the top, and with Blizzards help and work... it stayed there...
Soon though... soon.. just not right now. |

I love it how people flood over to forums designated for different games and bloat about how that game is the best. You have a forum area for your game.. so why are you here trying to prove its better? You're only going to get a load of people going against you with hardly anyone with you.. the only ones who will go with you are just doing the same crap as you. Coming over to bloat about their game.
War- Going to be a good game. AoC - Going to be a good game.
Hmm... why are you all argueing about it, again? follow the blinking exit lights to your respected forums designated accordingly and take a seat there. Fasten your seat belts, and keep your tray tables in the upright, locked position. When the captain turns off the "No Heckling and boasting" Sign.. you will be free to boast about the game you are currently flying with as much as you like. Enjoy! |

Cities of AoC = Cities in Heroes of Might and Magic ?
General Discussion « Age of Conan 7/08/07 9:03:11 AM
Personally i kinda like the whole idea of having player cities... but with a lack of player housing... as the landscape can clutter very nastily like in SWG. Once beautiful views turned ugly by hundreds of houses all cramped inside designated areas. Leaving the only open areas nearby cities or ugly locations no one wanted to walk out into every day. Maybe down the road they can instance a seperate island for housing.. or perhaps they'll do what Blizzard did with WoW. "Sure! We can do housing! Look! shiny! Go get it!" and toss other stuff in front of us that we can chase around, suddenly void of any ideas about housing until the shiny stuff gets old and dull... then they throw new stuff at us!
But hey, the taverns will be fun enough to have. Sit around. Watch a few fights, have a drink... get drunk and maybe even have a fight or two yourself! For now that will do me... but i always do like to have my own private space for my junk and just... well private space. Just for the sake of having a house of my own. |
