Lord of the Rings Online: Free to Play Interview
News Discussion « General Discussion 6/06/10 12:28:26 PM
Turbine devs have already stated that it will not be "free to play, pay to win" model. Most of the items will be cosmetic and convenience items. Various mount skins, wardrobe skins, +10-20% or more XP potions, run speed potions, maybe even some port scrolls. Just look at the DDO store, and that is exactly what the LOTRO store will be modeled after they have said. Also stated, a dev said this plain and simple: "The purchase of items in the LOTRO Store is entirely optional. While items in the Store are designed to immediately enhance your in-game experience, premium loot and rare gear are the rewards of adventure and are only obtainable through gameplay."
This means that raid gear, and any type of gear with stats that will give you a major advantage will only be obtainable through actually doing the content. Hope this helps answer some questions and silences the doom-and-gloomers. |

Mythic Warhammer online overcharge customers from hundred's to thousands of dollar's
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 4/12/10 10:43:16 PM
I played WAR for about a month when it came out then dropped it. Since then, my Visa had expired and I acquired a new one. Thank God too, or else I'd probably have been in the same boat as the rest of the guys. Was recently thinking about resubbing and trying out the game. Now I'm most definitely never going to. |

They do have a MMO called Phantasy Star Universe. Like a sequel or something I guess. http://phantasystaruniverse.com/ Pretty decent. A lot like PSO. |

Thinking Of Joining, But I Have A Few Questions.

1. The population is ok. It depends on which server you select, mainly. Brandywine is the most populous server, while I think Windfola is one of the smallest servers. Vilya being above Windfola, and the others are moderate. I personally like Windfola the best.
2. The community is absolutely fantastic. People help eachother all the time, the guilds ("kinships") are very helpful, just an overall friendly community. I've heard horror stories about open chat in other MMOs, LOTRO's is fairly tame.
3. The Cosmetic system. Legendary Weapon system.
4. This MMO adheres to Tolkien's LOTR lore. This is a large factor for me in that when seeing certain places, NPCs, etc., I become very excited :)
5. No, this MMO is not all combat all the time. In fact, you could spend days crafting, doing silly (and fun!) quests, events, things like that. There's a line of quests called the "Chicken Quests" that you take control of a chicken and your objective is to make it from point A to point B without dying! Definitely a chore going from The Shire to Rivendell as a Lv.1 chicken! Plenty of other things to do than combat!
Hope this helps! Also see my user gallery for LOTRO pictures that may interest you! |

Little different, looking for PvE, grouping and RP...
LFGame « General Discussion 11/28/08 11:06:04 PM
I'd say try Lord of the rings online.
http://www.lotro.com
They just had an expansion come out, the Mines of Moria. Not too late to start either, they added in 2 new classes as well. If you're into RP, PVE, and grouping, LOTRO is all about that. Little to no PVP, and the PVP it does have is just kind of a side game, really. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Argosax&view=videos http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v255/ShadowSephiroth/Games%202/ http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v255/ShadowSephiroth/Games/

Also, if you need help in quests and finding stuff, MEHQ will help greatly.
