I am definitely coming back once I9 comes out. The invention system, along with the salvage and recipe drops it brings, and the Auction houses make the game much more economy-based than it once was, and leads to much more player interaction, which should be awesome. Something like this was needed from the beginning.

I just hope they add more to inventions than enhancements and costume pieces. I want little things that I can have fun with, like making little robots or something to keep upgrading and putting them into robot arena's against other people's robots in a new mini game or something.

Little things to do for fun will keep me paying. People put too much importance on leveling and combat, etc., that they hardly ever add any little mini game type stuff that would be fun to do on the side.

I think inventions are a very welcomed addition but what I don't like is this notion of shoe horning us into the economy by playing games with the storage. They did this before, bases & prestige and it back fired. People want more freedom.

They need content in a big way. They need to add new powersets & the villian EAT quickly. This can not wait a year from now. They also need to add NEW zones. I love what they did in Faultline but revamping old zones is not the ticket. They also need new map tilesets, layouts and different mission objectives. Lastly, EVERY month they should be sprinkling new content into existing systems, not waiting for big Issue releases. Costume, inventions, base items and new map layouts should be added on a more consistent bases.

I know, it is a lot but I am concerned inventions will ended up like bases, neglected for the most part.

Definitely need more updates. They keep fixing bugs and other stuff immediately after a new patch comes out, so they should give us at least bug fixes and whatever else they get done. They can leave the major updates until the next issue, but at least pass out the bug fixes and smaller things in between. Would make me much more motivated to keep going, knowing the game is constantly getting better, rather than only getting better once every few months or more.

OP makes good points, and I definitely agree with him.

I find it funny how those that talk about wanting a 'hard' game, only ever seem to think of 'hard' as a 'long and pointless grind', because somehow it makes you feel better to know you've wasted more of your life than others clicking a couple buttons over and over. Times are changing, spending hours and hours grinding on mobs to level will soon be entirely obsolete (though I am sure those asians will try to keep it going forever).

Stop living in the past and look to the future. That's where the fun is.

None of the above. The only people that really annoy me are the ones that are all like, "This game sucks, but this awesome, and you're all nubs if you think otherwise", or "You're nubs for having your own opinions", etc.

FF12 definitely would have been an awesome MMO. However, it was a pitiful excuse for a single-player console game.

Okay, well, yo my names Sumorogue and im considering on buying final fantasy XI (with all expansions ofc).

Let me first tell you a little about myself.

I am a mature gamer, who often spends around 6-12 hours a day playing MMO's or other video games, I used to play WoW, and was in a hardcore raiding guild, which i raided every day for almost 2 and a half years straight, that meant 6 hour long raids, and 4 hours a day farming potions to use on the nights raiding.

Due to the end game content not varying enough, i finally decided to depart from that game in search for something 'new'. I attempted vanguard. Vanguard in itself was a deep let down, i expected so much from the game, yet it didnt deliver (not going into detail, dont want another Vangaurd hating post).... So, i quit that.

Now here i stand, browsing the web for that 'next new game' that can keep me occupied for a while, atleast until The Chronicles of Spellborn, or Warhammer online comes out.

Now for my questions.

1. What is max level?
2. Is the game based around leveling, or is that put to the side with other things at the front?
3. How is the community?
4. Is the end game good, if anything at all?
5. How would you rate the game out of 5?

Thanks for reading everyone, and i look forward to hearing peoples responses, and hopefully being turned to buy the game. :)

1) I believe it's still 75.

2) It's basically all about leveling. You spend hours looking for a group, then you grind on stuff for hours and hours and hours until you level, then you either keep grinding the same stuff, or move on to the next grinding spot. Also you lose xp, and even levels on death. I remember getting to a level at one point, heading to a new spot and taking hours to find a group, then we died on the first pull and I deleveled, so they kicked me out of the group, lolz.

3) The community is a mix of Japanese and English-speaking players, so you'll see lots of people speaking in both languages, and it'll be hard to tell sometime if the person you're trying to talk to  is one or the other. Not that hard, but meh. Plus the social interaction is one of the big things that keeps you in the game, and sometimes you get a full group of people who don't speak your language and it's so boring. Though usually they'll kick you out when they realize it. It was never a bad community, but not the best.

4) From what I hear, end-game is just raiding Notorious Monsters and stuff for loot and whatever. Though apparently,  unlike some games, they're actually supposed to be fun.

5) I would rate it 2/5. It had an awesome environment, was addictive, but ultimately the gameplay is completely lacking and not really fun. Crafting is the worst, if you're into that stuff. Everything is a grind, and nothing is even remotely easy to do. The game is way too time consuming, there is too little character customization, etc.

And yet, i find myself fighting off the urges to go back every few months. :P

Ok, time for clarification. When you die, it's like dying in any other game, except it says you've been defeated and just retreated back to your safe point. It says nothing like, "You have died and revived."

That's what the guy above meant by not dying. Isn't it ironic that the person who said to 'play the game before commenting' doesn't know what is going on?

BUT! there is 2 things wrong with it,

1, It is madness to have to keep your p.c on all night just to buy and sell items, omg why is there no auction npc like in WoW damn.

2, Now this maybe debatable for some BUT! it's those enchant weapon and armour scrolls,  once you have made lots of adena and can start to afford to loose your gear by over enchanting, what you find is that! thats all there is left to do is keep replacing what you have blown up, the target for this is +16 glowing red weapon and +6 armour set to get the over enchant armour set bonus, considering this maybe s grade equipment you are trying to better by oe'ing it becomes rather dispointing to have to keep replacing your gear. personaly i do not like enchant scrolls.

It's nothing but a point and click, asian grindfest of epic proportions. Nothing is fun, and I was killing stuff non-stop and taking days to level at level 12. Quite frankly, it hurt to pee when I was finished with it.

I agree for the most part. I do enjoy the titles I suppose, but they're not that amazing. The landscape does feel fake, and the combat bland. The world seems lifeless and boring -- especially during monster play, but that's probably just because there aren't enough high levels to actually do anything fun. Still, I ran around for about an hour with hardly anything but my character and horrible landscapes to look at.

After trying out Monster Play, I immediately logged off and never looked back. It may be optional, but it made me realize how I really feel about the game. It's just not for me.

That being said, there are some good points to the game. The opening instanced areas (and the end of the introduction area instance) were pretty damn fun, and exciting my first couple trips through. The novelty wore off, and it was taking too long to get to the next great instanced area, and I just couldn't bring myself to keep going until I got to one. The quests, crafting, etc., were all a tad too boring for me to put up with in order to get to that 20 minutes of fun between grind.

Also, I hope they're just holding off on the variety of weapons and armor, as there aren't many looks and people all look very similar. They did do cloaks awesome however -- much better than any other game out there (with the exception of CoH/V, though I guess they're technically 'capes', though it's basically the same thing).

The game was definitely memorable, but too much of a timesink. Everything in the game was tedious, and not really fun, but the atmosphere and everything was awesome. I want to go back to it every now and then, but I just can't do it, especially since all my characters have been deleted now and I don't wanna start over.

The thing that really screwed the game up for me -- and it relates to customer service -- was that on two different occasions, they charged me twice for one account. My cousin and I both played, and we had an account for each of us (we live in the same house, and are charged on the same credit card), and for some reason, my account was charged twice and his once, two different times. Called customer service and asked them what to do, and they said to fax it over to them and they should fix it. Long story short: they never fixed the problem, I quit, and I will never trust another asian company, and thus, refuse to pay monthly for any of their MMO's from that point on.

I'm gonna agree with most people. At the current time, the game has no direction and gives me no reason to play. There is no point to raiding and gaining armor, because all there is to do with this newfound equipment is to continue raiding the same dungeons until a new dungeon comes out to get even better gear. What's the point?

I hope the expansion can alleviate some of these feelings, but I still don't see much of a point in playing as they still have no meaningful end-game. They're just adding more of the same with less people needed.

We'll see how it pans out. But anyway, the written review was fine, as most people seem to agree with, but I just can't stand the fact that you think a "7" is "low" -- do you even know how to count? Did you think that 7 was a 1? I can understand if that's the problem, but then you shouldn't be working for MMORPG.com to begin with. Or maybe it's how people said, and you need to keep these companies happy for whatever reasons.

Either learn to count, or grow some balls before you write anymore reviews.

Oh and my real question is will this fury game cost money? And what does n/a mean?

when i check if the mmorpg's cost money some of them will say n/a

what does it mean?

You're an idiot. Yes, Fury will cost money. If the games were free both to purchase, and monthly, then the companies would be losing tons of money each month, and thus would make it all pointless, as they would eventually just drop the whole thing and the game would end.

The only way a game is free is:

1) It sucks and no one in their right mind would actually pay for it -- though usually there are things you can buy within the game for those crazy few.

2) It's in open beta so they can get as much testing done with as many people as possible before they decide to charge for it. Every single Korean MMO seems to have long open betas, while most western MMO's tend to have short one to two-week open betas.

3) It's Shadowbane... I don't know what is up with them. I think they'll start charging again soon, since they just got permission to keep developing it and all that.

N/A = Not Available.

Go play the RL game. Killing there would feel real, too. And there's corpse looting!

Nothing good comes from corpse looting, sorry to say. It's nothing but a griefing tool, and it makes games less fun. If the fights are great, then that is all that is needed -- hell, even in WoW I had the adrenaline pumping at a couple points because I was the middle of really great fights that were really close. Doesn't happen often, but it does.

First of all, WoW is a game filled with nothing but grinding. There is very little in WoW that is actually fun -- oddly enough, the very little that is happens before level 10.

I can't say if WAR will be amazingly fun, but from what we've seen and read, it's looking awesome. I mean, being able to PvP for the entirety of my time in-game? I couldn't ask for anything more...

... and I don't have to ask, because I get tons more without doing so. =P

I can only hope the gameplay lives up to expectations to go with these great ideas.

All I can say is: those that claim to hate them game; that it's going to fail simply because a certain company tacks its name onto it, without even trying the game, are biased and, well, just idiotic. Play the game before you decide these things -- you know nothing. No one knows how this game will turn out in the long run.

However, the nay-sayer's need to understand that just because a company made some mistakes in that past; that doesn't mean the company is going to continue to make the same mistakes. Mythic said they are going to give them as much time as needed to make the game as polished as possible before release, and they're not getting involved with the development.

If you don't like the game anymore, then why are you hanging around the forums for it? Go somewhere else to spread your negativity.

They've made several MMO's, and none have followed in AC's footsteps more than AC2 did -- and that bombed. Even AC2 didn't do anything like AC; that is PvP, combat, UI, etc., and Dungeons and Dragons Online is just way out there.

I am pretty sure they're done with all the old ideas from AC, and have moved on long ago and don't plan on looking back.

I don't know a whole lot about the Warhammer lore, and until playing WoW, I knew nothing of the Warcraft lore. They did a bad job with the lore in WoW -- honestly, they could have left it out entirely, and had each quest giver just say "go and do this, and I'll give you this" and there would have been no real difference to the game in my opinion.

I may have to read up on Warhammer lore sometime, but I have no doubts that it is equal to or greater than WoW's lore. Also, the graphics for WAR are much better -- greater detail, more fine-tuned, etc., and because of that, don't really look anything like WoW at all. It looks much better overall.

From what I have read about the combat system, PvP and PvE, it sounds like it's going to be much more fun than WoW if it's all pulled off. There isn't much worse PvE out there than WoW's post-60 game, and the PvP, while fun for up to and including 35 minutes, is just boring and pointless. It is my belief that WAR will surpass WoW on every aspect -- and with Mythic, I am sure that's almost a guarantee.

That's all I have to say for now.
