SW MMO : you WILL be disappointed!
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/09/08 9:12:06 PM
I'm with the guy that made the first reply... what the hell does that mean, a SW game delivered on a plate? I don't even think that makes any sense. Maybe the OP has some mental issues that are causing him to see the future and tell it via inane ramblings. |

As said above... the game was down from 7:30am EDT or so until 12:30pm EDT or so for the patch. Now it's down for login issues that arose from that downtime. |

Yeah I'm expecting to get bored pretty quick myself. Probably gonna end up going through the Death Knight starter area, then wonder what the point of continuing is. |

Glad to hear you're enjoying it. I wish I was enjoying it that much, but there are a lot of problems with it that I am sure will eventually be fixed that keeps me from wanting to play long-term at the moment. Gonna head back to WoW come the expansion, and then when I get bored of that again, I'll check WAR out again. |

It's down because they're fixing some login issues. |

I want to be a Healer , so let me Heal !!!!
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 10/09/08 4:11:35 PM
So, from what I understand, the OP is lazy and would rather click one "heal all" button, as opposed to actually having to do something aside from pressing that one button. Healing is fine in-game - it makes killing those tanks insanely hard, and it can be frustrating sometimes. I can get someone down to one hit left, and I'll keep getting that person down to that one hit worth of health, but they'll keep getting healed and I'll be the one that ends up dying. Healing completely turns the tide of battle as it is. |

Crap netcode - the game killer.
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 10/09/08 11:24:13 AM
I agree with the OP. They need to upgrade their code/servers. There is a lot of lag at prime time a good bit of the time. PvE problems where I'll have my bar from my last attack stay up and not let me fire off any more, while the enemy continues to attack me, and similar happening in RvR, though it's to everyone, as I never die during it. I've also had the morale problem stated above, where I'll just keep clicking it, and it'll keep counting down from 1, until it finally fires off too little too late. |

This Game Failed: Fire Mark Jacobs
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 10/09/08 10:40:22 AM
It's really a lose-lose situation. If you join a low pop server, then there is little to no lag, but the RvR/Scenarios are pretty much non-existent. If You join a high pop server, there is RvR and Scenarios, but there is likely a queue to get into the game, and the lag is pretty bad - even with these server and client stability upgrades I keep reading about. Also, even on a high pop server, sometimes scenarios still take a while to get into. At least a couple of the PQ's have some people in them though. Though the usual empty ones are generally still empty, or have one other. |

They can't do server merges 'cause their shitty servers can barely handle the amount of people on them right now. |

You give players a PvE quest grind to get to the end-game, and they'll complain that they have to level up to experience the fun. The thing is, the latter is more successful, in my opinion, because while some players will complain, everyone is working towards the same goals, and it gives you something different to play for and look forward to later on. WAR just doesn't have the same hook as other games, imo. Not really a whole lot to look forward to. |

I don't know about anyone else, but this interview made the game sound very generic. For the most part, everything is the same as other MMO's. Maybe crafting will be a bit better. I hope the gameplay is very fun and all of this works out, and they don't rely on those hefty graphics to get them by. |

Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning: Cross Pairing Queuing Now Available
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/02/08 1:46:26 PM
Unfortunately, as nice a thought as it was, it's not doing anything to help the queue times. In fact, they're worse now. It takes forever for me to get into a scenario. The night of the day they introduced it, I was in a queue for all three for over 3 hours on Gorfang and never got in any (Nordenwatch, Khaine's Embrace and Gates of Ekrund). |

General: New MMO Based on Otherland Novel Pt. 1
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/01/08 7:04:24 PM
As others are thinking, as soon as I heard it was being developed in Singapore, I immediately stopped giving a crap about this game. As racist as it may be, I have absolutely no faith in Asia-based companies being able to develop a good MMO. Here's comes the next sci-fi F2P grind-fest with great graphics and a tad bit more story than the others. |

WAR definitely seems a bit more alive... it's just that after the beginning, it shifts and becomes like any other game, albeit with mor easily available PvP. PvE in WAR is boring, and there aren't enough people most of the time to make RvR or Public Quests worthwhile. On my server, Gorfang, I've been in scenario queues for all three beginner scenarios for three hours or so now and I haven't gotten into one. I don't mind a grind to a degree, if I have something major to strive for, and I know people in the game. WAR has a horrible community as of yet - no one really talks to each other, and even when I try, I usually get nothing in return. Community is a major thing for me, and it seems that Vanguard probably wins in this area. Even WAR is a grind; there's like no way around that in MMO's. Raids aren't usually my thing... but then, I've played WoW for three years, and what else is there to do in that really but PvP and Raid? If the amount of players needed to raid isn't too high, it may not be too bad, though. I'll have to check into that, 'cause I don't remember that.

Does this game have a future? Is there an end-game worth playing for, or anything at all really to give me a goal aside from better gear? I am playing the trial and seems pretty cool - but I am also playing WAR. WAR isn't the most fun game there is, but it seems to be the best I can get at the moment. My only real reservations about this game, is that it's not a highly populated game, and has seemed like it could go under any day for a while now. Also it sounds like there's not a whole lot to do later in the game. WAR isn't all that fun, but it seems like it has more of a future to look forward to, but what about Vanguard? Just looking for opinions, and perhaps any information to shed some light on these issues and show my ignorance on them, if possible. Thanks. |

I'd say they've done a fine job with RvR as it is. My only problem is that it's split up a bit too much. While that gives variety so you can go somewhere else if you get bored - for some reason, people like to mainly congregate over in the Empire areas and the other two are nearly deserted. To me, if there was a little more incentive to fight in all three areas, and they made the servers stable enough to hold more people, then I think the game would be much better. Also, maybe a bit more incentive to do Public Quests might be nice too. Generally people will just grind on the easiest one in a chapter to get their influence maxed out, and then they'll move on. However I love the atmosphere of the game, and it's definitely something that shoudln't be changed. |

That's pretty cool. Ok, you twisted my arm - even though I have Warhammer right now, I can't help but download the trial isle for this and try it out again. |

Not funny anymore: Order regularly gets ROLLED... PERIOD
General Discussion « WAR (Warhammer Online) 9/27/08 2:06:48 PM
I'm on Avelorn, a med/med server most of the time. I just played about 5 Nordenwatch senarios and won 2 of them with ease, and one was a close call. The other two we lost easily. I this while a bunch of Order were taking everything over in Nordland without much of a fight. Earlier, I was over at the shadowlands or whatever (the High Elf equivalent) and it was half and half. We took a couple places, and they took a couple while we took the ones we got. Though the Dwarf area is all but deserted. There were a few of each side, and Destruction owned everything, but had I had at least one other person with me, I could've taken some places. All in all, seems somewhat balanced on my server, at least in the early zones. |
