Vanguard changes or it won't exist anymore. It's as simple as that. Now you have to decide whether or not a few relatively small changes will make you quit playing a game that you otherwise enjoy. You have to sit back and objectively look at the state of the game and decide what will be better for it in terms of profitability and overall health. The game needs to be made stable, and it still needs even the most basic of things fixed: Helmets, tails, basic combat mechanics etc. Most of all, it needs a fresh infusion of players, and you aren't going to get that without some changes. There's no use crying about any of this as these are just propositions and are not yet set in stone. They have a forum where you can leave your feedback. Use it. |

If you aren't a stickler for graphics then you might want to try out "A Tale in the Desert." As for the whole off-topic "clone" discussion, you have to remember that a game in a certain genre will almost always be similar to other games in said genre. Racing games, sports games, action games are all fundamentally similar, yes? Would you say that 90% of MMORPGs are clones of Everquest? Does it matter? |

I thought the behind the scenes look at the music of WAR in the newsletter was pretty great. What did everyone else think? |

Jerry Pournelle's CoDiminium Universe, and more specifically his collaboration with Larry Niven, The Mote in God's Eye. Sprawling Galactic empires, multiple factions, first contact, wars etc. World War Z would be a neat basis for an MMOG too, I think.

I've been actively following the game since November of 2005, and even now after all of this time and after the numerous videos I've seen, the animations are still so weak. I'm hoping the next few builds will help smooth things out. |

I don't think there's anything out there currently that offers gameplay filled with as much political intrigue on such a massive scale as EVE. Age of Conan could possibly come close because of the player-made kingdoms, but only time will tell.

It's been a pretty mediocre, buggy experience so far. The game is optimized so very poorly. |

I had some very high hopes for this game, and it's been pretty disheartening hearing the feedback from beta testers. I'll still reserve the bulk of my judgment until it releases, but October seems way too early at this point. For those who have played the game, what can they fix or improve? Is October too early for release? How much time do you think it would take to improve the game?

In nearly every Vanguard video I've seen there's been some really spotty animation. This is especially evident when the Pegasus treads backward.
Animation quality is so severely overlooked these days it seems. |

"Hello CapnHulk, As you probably already know, MMORPG.com is running a major holiday giveaway for over 270 prizes, including a custom painted PC from ibuypower.com! Unfortunately we had a major database failure on December 15 which caused us to lose all of our data going back to December 9, 2006. If you registered at our website or entered the contest between December 9 and December 15 then there is a great chance that your entry was lost in the system crash. You will need to return to our website and register and/or enter the contest. You can enter this contest again at this link! We are very, very sorry about this inconvenience!" YAY! |

Considering that you can pay for your game subscription with in-game money I don't see why a few bucks a month for fully integrated voice chat should bother many people.
You don't have to pay for it if you don't want to and Teamspeak and Ventrilo will still be there. |

Part of it is due to Warhammer favoring a more personal, in-your-face sort of PVP. I think in order to emphasize that you have to keep stealthing to a minimum. Stealth is generally used to "lock" someone down while inflicting a bunch of damage or otherwise disorienting someone. It seems to me that any sort of mechanic that will take control out of you, the player's hands, isn't going to be much of a factor in WAR, whether it be from a stealth class or a caster. Of course, I could just be talking out of my ass since we still don't know a whole lot at this point. |

Character customization is one of the most important aspects I consider when looking at any MMOG and I really hope that there will be a wide, wide, WIDE variety of options in WAR. When someone sees me on the battlefield I want them to instantly recognize and fear me. I don't want to be Generic Warrior #2338 with End Game item set #2 on. |

Any game, Western or Eastern, that makes you grind for hours upon hours to get to the "main" part of the game aren't worth the time at all. There is zero fun involved killing mobs over and over, getting some new gear, and then killing mobs over and over again. If the point of the game is to siege castles, then focus on that and don't try to add longevity to the game by creating a levelling treadmill. Every Korean game that's ever been ported over here has been like that. After dealing with a shoddy translation, bots, a terrible community, lag, and lack of customization the last thing I want to do is grind for 6 months just to get to the proverbial meat and potatoes. |
