Higher level players can level sync to lower level players' levels and group with them. So.. nope you can find people quite easily.   :)

Yeah this is def one of the coolest features, along with playing with people from different time zones. The [auto translate] feature is amazing too..

i don't understand how they achieved all this years ago and everyone I've spoken to has enjoyed them so much and still they're yet to be repeated!

I've played FXII on and off for four years, the controls are imo the best of the genre. The number pad is great and Icon67's description of how your hand falls is exactly how i play... (the ring finger can also move to - for menu^^ )

The only problem with the controls in this game is that after partying for about 5 hours as a WHM the ol' Ctrl+1 claw develops!

[Welcome back] hope you are having [fun] ^^

To people who think that hardcore mmo's can't / don't work on consoles: please take a look at FF11.

And that was on the PS2...

Looks like you enjoy the sound of your keyboard being tapped, a little too much...

Edit: also, it's EMPIRE not order Vs Chaos as you keep saying..

Also, you have to have levelled to lvl 30 to be able to unlock beastmaster.. which means grouping from 10-30 really...

1.  Warhammer 40k - the more interesting / original IP of the 2 to have created when the market is as flooded with traditional Fantasy as it is at the moment.

2. Firefly MMO would also be cool as has been said (everyone wanting a scifi/western - this would be the one).

3. I cant really say this without asking for trouble, but oh well - Pokémon!

4. A Bucky O'Hare  MMO... wow that would be amazing... seriously, I want that now!

Can't really think of anything after Bucky now... I want to fight the evil Toad Empire :P

NM's are Notorius Monsters - Basically, special monsters that are fought during quests/missions or for better treasure.

As you can see from this list, there are an awful lot of them!

Shame you dont really have the time to commit as it's a good social game imo.

Foot of Gork (or possibly Mork, can't remember!) anyone?

Dumb but sometimes very effective orc magic!

For me it would be FFXI (which is why im going back to it after i finish my uni work for Xmas break!)

I have subbed to it the longest out of any MMO as:

  • It had easily the best community I've played with - and i loved being able to play with people from different areas of the world (USA and Japan)
  • Achievements such as getting 1/2 on Jaggedy-Eared Jack feel special (yeah i know that's a luck based achievement but I was sooo happy!)
  • I love the class diversity and ability to change classes
  • It has an Interesting overall story
  • Moogles, Chocobos

WAR as I played the tabletop and have always wanted to see it realised in a good computer game... not sure if thats what I'll end up with in WAR but I'll have to wait and see

Heh, i played Shadow of the Horned Rat and that was good at the time but Im not a great fan of that style of game.

My opinion as someone watching from the outside looking in at the forums this game has never seemed more appealing.  I can't go on anything other than other peoples words so most of my interest comes from wondering if it is as good as they say.

Really though forum goers are a minority and the majority probably wouldn't know the current state of the game unless they know someone who still plays.

But for the most part I think the game seemingly going from bad to just about to be really good will interest a lot of people including me... waiting for a damn trial is testing my patience though so I hope it will be worth it

Couldn't agree more.. and I'd probably get it if i thought my PC could handle it...

I do like the idea of it, but knowing my luck my internet wouldn't work for the whole week of armageddon... having played for a year or so to hone my skills for this final combat, having to miss it might make me a little... frustrated!

maybe both?

within ten days (OK i don't know how much you will be able to play during this time but still) you should be able to do a fair bit, what's stopping you trying a new character, maybe to get back into the swing of it, then try playing with your old one?

Another good thing about this server setup means that there isn't really a period of time when people aren't playing - Somewhere around the world FFXI is being played! (and you can play with them even if you log in at weird times)

also, once you have got use to the [auto translate] function, it is really easy to communicate (on a basic level) with Japanese players and vice versa.

I don't know how much you know about the game, and despite it being my favourite MMO, it definitely isn't for everyone - I just hope you like it as much as I did. (I haven't played it for about a year, but me and some friends are going back to it in January)

One of the reasons FFXI is so good is because there aren't seperate servers! you will be playing with EU  /  USA / JP people. I've never understood why more dont follow this setup as you find many more interesting people this way.

Enjoy the game

(There are different worlds, but they all have people from every country)

For me FFXI made the best use of the keyboard: Numpad to move and just straight typing to talk without pressing enter first!

WASD is 2nd best IMO with CoH having the best freedom of movement of any game

Point n Click is undesirable for me, but as it's easy to implement I have no problem with it being included as an alternative for those that need it for whatever reasons.

On jumping - although you dont see that many people jumping around in RL, for some reason not being able to in a game makes it seem like there is something missing (probably as it's such a staple of games of most genres).

And you should realise just because in a previous game stealth was imbalanced doesn't mean it cannot be balanced. and to alot of people being "about fun pvp" would mean including stealth. its a type of play style, some like it some hate it. same goes for support role or tank etc.

Who exactly are these "alot of people", and what is the type of play style that incorporates stealth that you are referring to?  In all the past MMOs I have played, the only stealth play style that the majority of stealth based characters employ is ganking and/or stealing.  Show me where in the warhammer tabletop game that units on the board are completely hidden from your opponent (and I dont mean behind terrain, structures, etc..., I mean completely invisible).

Night Goblin Fanatic!

Ok so i originally typed that to play devils advocate as i dont think 'invisible stealth' is a good idea, however it would be really cool to see one in a PvE... like you go to kill a group of night goblins and all of a sudden you're hit by a 'shroomed' up nutter with a ball and chain! :D

I play Lizardmen on TT so i would love to be able to in WAR... although as jondifool said, it would be pretty much impossible to stay within the realms of the lore for them to be roaming around the old world.

I used to play Skaven in Mordheim so they would also be cool (and as everyone has said are the obvious racial pairing for my 1st choice )
