How would you improve SW:TOR if you had the chance?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 3/27/12 6:53:07 AM
The crafting corner always looks so barren to me, why even have a huge room to get crafting stuff if no one is going to interact with it, thats so silly. You might as well just have one npc that you can learn all your skills from if thats the case, or better yet just have the skills available in the players UI when they want to get them. I think that part of the game was really stupid. I remember running through all the crafting npc's and figuring out what I wanted to get, but i was the only one there. It felt stupid and a waste. Plus I dont know much about the crafting, but from what I read Biochem was the only profession worth taking, all the others were terrible aparently. I read somewhere entire guilds, 90% of the players in them all would be Biochem. If that dosnt show crafting is broken I dont know what would. The republic side definitely pales in comparison to the empires story as well as theme and tone. It could just be me and my personality, but I felt so much more excitement being an evil Empire Spy then a Light Side Republic Knight. I will say that I did enjoy the Light Side Republic Knight though, I really dont know if its actually a con though, but I cant help but think it. I would maybee suggest spicing up the republic side with some more conterversial story elements, even more so then the empire. For an example, when I was on the empire side, there was this part of the game where we were suppose to poison this entire colony of people by putting chemicals in there water supply. Thats so damn evil, even I couldnt help but think how a game developer could even think about puting content into a game like that. Maybee if republic had something to counter the evilness that is empire spy. Also the flashpoints are just lame, I dont get having a room with these 8 instances makes for something great. The content is nice, any content is nice but the way its implimented is silly. I found my self and a lot of other flashpoint groups, having higher level players, by higher i mean way way higher, like 20 levels higher, taking groups of low level people through the content, and burning through it in a matter of minites. That is just poor implimentation I think. The games video settings, were messed up as well. I can confirm this by the large threads that were made on the topic. You could get less frames by setting some settings to high then low, and only when you did a certain sequence of changing settings would you get the optimal settings for the best frame rate. It didnt bother me that much cause I figured that one out in the first 20 minutes of setting the game up, but other people were less lucky that had less powerfull machines then me. There is also sync issues were frames jump all over the place, they call it optimization issues as well. that is to be expected in mmos more so then any other game because along with the code that the game uses there is netcoding as well, which I dont have the slighest clue about either but the basics or common knowledge. Also whats with all the useless junk that piles up, half the stuff says "there is no use for this item but can be sold at vendor", none of that crap is worth anything and there is so freakin much of it. Theres plenty more, but these are some of the first things that rattle of the top of my brain. None are game changers in my mind, the game is very well made and smooth. The way the game flows is very much a masterpeace and is deserving of honors. |

8 days Trial finished and......
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 3/27/12 6:18:55 AM
Why did you play it in the first place, you had to know what it was going to be like. We have thousands of threads about SWTOR and how they hate it, yours just adds to the pile. Even so, I was interested in some peoples perspective on the trial, but you dont mention anything about the trial, just the game. We have plenty of reviews of the game already. I guess ppl can say what they want tho, freedom of speach and all. All Im saying is your entire thread is in a tone which sux for fans, you dont mention anything good about the game. 20 dollars for this game is ridiculous, the content and the way the game flows from zone to zone, they put alot of efford and time into it. Thats just a joke to say its only worth 20 bux. These are human beings making this game, not inteligent robots, can you make something so much better given the circumstances. Just about every child in north america was dreaming for months about SWTOR along with adults. To live up to peoples expectations is not an easy thing which is compounded by silly reviews of how much the game sux. Any way, Ill keep saying playing on planet Hutta with the imperial spy on empire side is worth the box price, that story and zones there fricken own. If you dont at least play that side of the game, your no mmo player for sure. |

Elder Scrolls MMORPG to be announced in May 2012?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/25/12 9:28:13 AM
search is failure on this website and 99% of other websites. Its a huge time sink and pain to complete the stupid forms and 99% of the time they dont work right. I make websites, I know how shitty the search functions are but yea to think this site wouldnt have something on an ES MMO is absurd if you been here for more then a day. |

I dont use the shift+12345, or ctrl+12345 only because I game on laptops and the way most game developers set there key mapping up is such so it doesnt work at all on my gaming laptops, so for me I probably dont need to give my answer on this subject. I would say though if there was any game to buy in the next decade, if I was only given one game to buy, it would be GW2 hands down also Id be thrilled if Arenanet stopped this gross misuse of key mapping and included laptop gamers in there scheme by making all there binds laptop friendly and work! |

Lots of people enjoy this game including me. Theres no reason to post on in this section of the forum that dosnt get any posts to begin with a stupid pointless flame thread. Simply leave it for others to enojoy, no need to ruin myn and other peoples fun, your better then that. Id just like to add Iv played thousands of matches and its a great riot of fun. If you are a pvp fan at all you wouldnt miss out on this game. |

shesh do I have to be the one to stand up for swtor. I honestly think swtor is a very well put togather game. Just thinking about it, the way everything is layed out, how the game flows is an acheivement in and of itself. Honestly, there is no game that flows so well as SWTOR to me along with the story but more so when I say "everthing is layed out" for those that havent played the game, I mean the way they mesh the zones togather with the world and the quests is something you can only expierence. Its very well done, and it shows given the time and efford they spent on it, its what an AAA MMORPG is all about. I will continue to say that in no way does the world feel static what so ever given how the game was advertised. I have never played another mmo that has a world that everyone seems to keep describing, I just think ppl are stuck in fantasy sandbox single player land when it comes to mmos as of now. Anyway my view stands is your no real mmo player if you dont give swtor a shot. One thing that scares me though is the crafting, I come from SWG and the crafting in SWTOR seems off to me some how. |

Elder Scrolls MMO... what do you think will happen in May?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/22/12 2:51:38 AM
Originally posted by ElderRat I only read the first sentence of my quote and I am by no means an ES junkie, in fact Iv never actaully played any ES games, I did watch an entire walkthrough of Marrowwind and oblivion but even so I can for surely say that I dont like the sentence I read one bit, not even in the slightest. Enough with this half ass online multiplayer shit, with the likes of recent titles such as;ME3, Dead Space 2, theres plenty more. I will admit anything is better then nothing, but lets get something good going I say, we need something that is worth a shit, maybee ES MMO will be that. |

I didnt get to play much of warhammer, I did own it though. I tried out a trial not to long ago, I have to say I hated its guts. The character movement was terrible, the npc's felt like they were droped in by an editor in one spot, felt so horrible. I did like the game when it first came out, it didnt last long though. I played up untill all the servers got merged which wasnt long from when it first released. Sea of Malice lol! |

Glad they sent me a free 7 day trial
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 3/20/12 8:16:51 AM
My experience in beta I would consider as being unforgetable, in a good way. I played a Empire spy, on the starting planet Hutta. Questing around in the swamp lands was ubber cool to me, and it felt so much like the mmo I wanted with people sprawling around as u rode the bikes way above everyone else questing. It was great. Being in jabbas palace was extreamlly fun and doing his dirty deeds while being a double agent against the hutt clan was really cool as well. The story was spot on. I new when I bought the game, going republic as a Knight, it wasnt going to be near the excitement for me given the nature that I am as I had with Hutta and the spy. Never the less, I stuck with Republic. Im currently unsubscribed from the game, not because of the game, but because I have alot of other things that need my attension. What truly scares me about swtor, is the crafting, just being in the crafting area, its dead and I kept reading everyone saying that Biochem was the only good profession to take and that 90% of the people took Biochem. Comparing it to aion, my favorite mmo, the crafting corner on elyos side is always stacked full of literally hundreads, to thousands of people. The capital city is really great place with lots of activity. Also the way the flashpoints are layed out, seems a bit weird to me, just doing the flash points kinda makes me have a headache thinking about it. I enjoyed them but cant they wrap them into the game better then making a single room with instances and calling them flashpoints?? Who the hell thought that up... I can say though if you miss any of the Empire side story for the spy, your no mmo player. That alone is worth the box price. Also the art style of the game is very very spectacular, you almost dont want to play it and just admire the beatifull backgrounds when your role playing your Voice overs with the characters of the world. As others have said, they dont like the world since its so static, I never noticed it one bit. Every mmo Iv ever played hasnt been any different, not sure where people get it in there heads that a few clever peaces of code making things move around makes a world less static at least in mmo terms. I think people got there heads wrapped way to much into skyrim before they played swtor, me I havent played skyrim yet so I was un-spoiled when it came to my swtor experience. Not to say character AI isnt something that dosnt extreamlly interest me, I think character AI is the future to greater gaming but what can you expect given the situation? Are there suppose to be massive galatic wars on planets that happen every so often that evolve into new quest lines for your characters randomally making everyones game different? That would be cool but I dont think were there yet. |

It boggles my mind how people can be so cruel and heartless. Just reading the first page makes me appalled at what dribble is spewed out. I know this forum, and how people speak there mind, I guess this place is just becoming more main stream, you get people that are powerfull with lots of $$ that can say what ever they please like there some god. Shesh, elder scrolls mmo, things must be getting more main stream. I know how it is making websites and how tough it is, even more so when everything and everyone is working in the direct opposite direction against you. Sorry for your loss, it would have been a great corner for people to travel to and dont let anyone else tell you other wise with there 2bit opinion that they shouldnt even be posting in the first place.

Originally posted by Sideras I side with this, Guildwars 2 in my minds eye is the next coming of mmos. They deserve to have a fancy collectors edition, and If I could I would buy it in a second along with all the other hundreds CE's that come out that are extreamlly cool, but alas I cant do that not only because its expensive and I have way better things to spend on, but because of the timesink and return. Thats an entire another issue for me though. |

MMORPGs that don't condone genocide?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 3/10/12 6:41:29 PM
Originally posted by 1m2m3m4m Im sorry nonclay, Im homosexual, and telling me that my sexuality isnt an orientation is absurd. Sexual acts would be more along the lines of polygamy/monogamy. There was a debate with Santorum, where he was trying to trick the crowd into thinking that homosexuality wasnt a sexual orientation and that it was the same thing as polygamy. Its pathetic honestly, to represent the LGBT community in a manner consisting of such debauchery on are fellow mankind. Im really not sure why I have to stand my ground on this, its pathetic. Have you people never even filled out a job aplication, it says what's your sexual orientation on it and gives you the choice of homosexual/heterosexual. If were not at the funny farm we must be close to it. |

Originally posted by headphones This makes no sence to me what so ever, what does swtor have anything to do with how you choose to live your life. I think what you need is something along the lines of whats on this website, http://www.lifeofmine.com/, sheesh i come here to read about swtor and i have to sit through this dribble about one night stands, I dont want to read that shit, please spare me. This topic has been discussed since the beta, to me It didnt bother me one iota, its how mmos play as of late. Were not in the days of having to make everything seem like its a new invention, swtor isnt suppose to be virtual reality world like many of the first mmos to released tried to do. I think this game was great for what it was ment to be, you dont have to grind till your eyes fall out to get something done but not only that, its not ment for hardcore players I dont think. I enjoyed my time playing it, and I will resub again. |

I dont know about anyone else but I really enjoyed the demo. The world was fun to run through, the way the quests are setup similar to how mmos are was very cool, it only left me wanting more. |
