They are working on expired accounts issue (some people)

They are working on servers up but cant connect issue (everyone)

Its been working all day, even though their forums and account management must be intrinsically tied to the game, that or it was the billing upgrade, who knows, we are mushrooms.

So they toggled those flags off and raised one variable.  Still sounding like it is the server xfers that is borked, since we have been on the launch platform since day 1 of prerelease.  Maybe they will make me eat my words and server xfers will be up.

And yeah, people upset that they just dont finish now, but if they are taking this step, bet they wont be doing it tonight, sounds major.

Yeah...I still dont get the "Launch Platform" upgrades.

Server transfer upgrade was the big part of this.  Maybe it has something to do with billing if it is launch platform related.

But id still lay odds that the transfer system wasnt working properly, borking characters if used.

The OP is correct though.

Currently PvP servers in Tera are just gankfests.  Its the reason 10 channels is a good thing, you can avoid it to an extent. There is little to no penalty if you gank (kill those > 5 levels below you) other than your name staying red.

But since you can hide in towns, that doesnt matter to gank groups, they like their names staying red. Red in town needs to be attackable.

Im on a PvP server for the potential for what it may become.

Right now PvE servers can duel only, no GvG or ganking.

As of right now, 4:16pm EST, they found a significant bug as a part of updating their platforms for launch.

 

My comment: For launch? We launched a week ago for those who preordered, and most people who will play a MMO these days preorder for the benefits.  Im betting they found a significant bug as a part of server transfers.

The scroll is what turns your name red, saying I can now attack whoever I want.  It is a skill, and not permanent.

Now if you kill someone > 5 levels below you, you get infamy, which keeps your name red untill time or killing equal level mobs works it off.

Red = Dead, meaning that anyone can attack a red name.  White = alright, since you can only be attacked by a red name (unless of course your name is red).

TLDR, your name must be red to attack someone whose name is white, the outlaw scroll turns your name red.

Infamy needs a penalty.

Being permared because you only attack those 6 levels or more below you (which is the only thing that gives infamy) is moot because the true ganking groups stay red anyway AND, AND, they can hide in cities.

I would accept that Infamy is a drawback if it meant Red=Dead everywhere, but it doesnt.

The only people who infamy provides some reprecussions to are solo gankers, because yes, then they get harassed, but they can change channels too to "run"

Im not saying bring back all the penalties (ok, I am, are Koreans tougher than us in PvP???) but at least make it so that you cant hide in a city if red.

You dont have to make the guards attack the infamous (they should) but at least make it so they cant sit there and spout crap on the open chat with no chance of doing anything about them.

True pvp only works when there are reprecussions for your actions.  Without jail/cops, our world would be one full of the guy with the gun shooting the guy without just because he can (Level 30 vs level 20).  And how silly would it be if he could then run into the city and stand there joking about it.

The problem with this is a plus and minus.

The plus is, by allowing transfers to Feral for free, they alieviate the 2 hour queues on the other PvP servers.

The minus is that since there is no penalty for ganking someone 6 levels below you other than being permanently red, we are about to get ganked on the new server.

 

I wouldnt mind, honestly, if at least they were attackable anyway.  Dont need other penalties, just dont let them hide behind the guards skirts in town.

Currently you cannot GvG on a PVE server.

PVP servers retain the fact that western gankers (those who attack people 6 or more levels below them with no risk) QQ's so much that all penalties from infamy were removed.

So currently, there is NO pvp content other than random gankage, duels, or GvG (for no purpose other than GvG) on PvP servers.

 

I like the game, just dont go making false claims about it.

GW2 has WvWvW pvp that Tera doesnt even come close to touching. Its a different game.

Tera was, like SWTOR, apparently SHOCKED that people want to PvP.  They had 7 PVE servers at launch and 3 PVP, which rapidly all had queues to log in, so they made a 4th PvP yesterday that they will give free transfers to today.

But it remains a fact that for the western market, the game was made easy mode.  (ie, no ganking penalties and enchantment failures do not lower the enchantment on your item)

So you need 3 "healers" to make combat last? And thats meant to be ok?

The point was with GW2 that you didnt need the triad, tank/dps/healer. Everyone can self heal.  Everyone can support heal.

 

So the first question with your arguement, why ele healers, why not thief healers, should be just as viable.

 

But the major point is it doesnt solve pew pew mentality that makes GW2 combat so instagib fast. 

People cant deal with CC, so lets basically remove it. Sigh. CC means strategy, when to employ it and when to use your breaks and removes.

In GW2 there are a lot of CC abilities, but they last 1-3 seconds in general.

Plus, each ability is so fast its basically a button spamming FFA.

Im enjoying the game too

 

But you 100% cannot say it has more meaningful pvp than GW2.

The only PvP that exists is open ganking. No goals, no objectives, no structured battlegrounds, just duels and on pvp servers, open world pvp with no reprecussions for gankers.

Its the login servers. Cant log into forums either.

But there are a lot of CC that are things like 1 sec daze, by the time you cast it and it affects them and you notice it, its gone.

3 sec debuffs, etc, esp for those like necs who can do things by absorbing conditions or boons

Right, but it feels like its purely pew pew or heal, that cc and buff/debuff are almsot immaterial.

Seems like the combat, and this affects all professions, boils down to who has the biggest dps hits.

The CC and debuffs and buffs are all so short lived that it feels pointless to cast them.

 

I think mostly it just feels like combat is way too fast.  You arent one-shotted, unless facing a veteran 3 levels over you due to scaling, but you are three seconded.

 

I know people hate in pvp when CC is overpowered or it feels like you are always locked down, but they specifically said pve was different than pvp, so why cant the pve cc have more of an effect?
