Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink

That particular figure of speech actually ends with "everyone has one".

They all stink is simply your own addition to it, to try and cater to the topic at hand, when you actually had nothing yourself to "bring to the table", yet chose to involve yourself in the conversation regardless.

My asshole stays clean, learn2wash.

you didnt bring anything to the table either because there is no table.... wow trippy

You should do the 14 day free trial so u can get a 14 day head start on Making that ISK and getting to know the game before u buy it

It's free for all, but if you loot a corpse that's the same race you will take a faction hit I believe.

One of the things I think people miss is that if you die, you won't automatically lose everything. If you're with friends and you die, but they kill the people that killed you, then your stuff should still be there.

That's if you have good friends and they don't steal the stuff and say one guy 'got away'.

Im willing to bet the shamwow salesman and Tasos both make more money than you do OP.  And there doing a lot more productive things with there days than sittin around tryin to bash other people all the time.

Per Tasos' "Happy Holidays..."post on December 24th, "We have been doing quite a few interviews; I believe one at curse.com is out today, and several more to follow. I try to answer every question asked one way or another."

He lied about it. This is what an indie developer does when they do not have a legitimate game. They prolongue development as long as they can to siphon as much money from private donators as they can.  EVE was the only decent indie programmer I have ever seen and they always kept you in the loop for developments, art, dates, etc.

This company is shadey. Don't pre order anything. Not even 5 bucks on it. Trust me on this. Just wait until it becomes "gold." I have seen too many MMOs rip people off with the pre order scandal and the fact that Darkfall is doing one now after years stating they wont raises an even larger red flag.

You cannot really persuade the fanbois. For the ones on the fence....just wait before you put any money down on this.

he said they have ben doing quite a few interviews and one of those intervies was out at curse.com, then he said there would be several more to follow.

That means there could be more interviews coming later on or the ones that have already ben done will be posted soon, which they were from tenton and the other one.

Now i think the OPs complaint was that there werent "several" interviews, seriously give me a break, talk about hanging on to every word, maybe is def of several is really a couple

PS. EVE isnt a Company or a Programmer EVE is a game made by an indie company CCP and programmed by alot of people over the years. (see how it is when you hang on every word)

EDIT: oh and am i going to have to /FP everything u post just because of the plain stupidity

/FP

If u want a good MMORPG with PVE im pretty shure LOTRO is all PVE

I dont get why your saying that FPS players are the only one that like PVP because RTS is a very big PVP genre(C&C and Warcraft im pretty shure being the biggest 2).

me i play FPSes all the time or at least i use to and i played them because it was fun to challenge myself against other ppl and not just NPCs that are repetitive and generally easy, if I did feel like playing RPGs, which is my other fav genre i would by either playing MMOs, and still PVPing because of the challenge of another person. Or if i didnt feel like pvping i would play a single player RPG like the FF series, Elder Scrolls, Vampire Masqurade. Now i dont always pvp in MMOs sometimes I would sometimes do instances and RP a little.

My point is that like someone else said theres nothing wrong with variety in an MMO, if u dont want to pvp theres pve servers, if u want to RP theres RP-PVE servers for most mmos

Ok..time to say to my fanboism goodbye ..

Its because of the change on pre-orders policy ..

All the delays  and even  bugs would not have been a problem  for me .. but miss a release date and reward yourself  pre-order money without try before pay ..isn't  something i like, support or accept..

Starting on January 22nd there will be a Darkfall trial with the distribution of the release candidate client allowing thousands of players to sample the game for free, help us stress test our servers and test the final features of the game

Sounds like Try before pay to me, u just have to get in

The first undeniable "official commitment" made by Aventurine in their near 6 year history - just got shot down.  There will be no release within 2008.  I will refrain form posting the quotes from Tasos telling us this would never happen.

Further, another (very recent) official statement from Aventurine "was that the open beta phase is scheduled to end early in December. More importantly this means that the game will be ready to release at that point."   It should be pretty obvious that neither situation is true.  Open beta START has not even been announced.  Until the production servers are stress tested, at a bare minimum, the game is NOT ready to ship.

Now we have the Jan 22, 2009 date.  But lets not forget testing still needs to ramp up, and be successfully completed.  Yes, I am quite aware that Tasos says they have "tested everything", but clearly he thinks more testing needs to be done and that everyone that has played the game should be under strict NDA.

Obviously, I would like to play the beta myself.  However, if they dropped the NDA, I would see that as a truly positive sign.  I cant see how slipping the schedule inspires celebration.

no one cares cause were going to be able to play it soon, ive ben waiting for 5 years i can wait another month

1/22/09

And BTW Im soooo very happy right now its crazy

and i copied this exactly from another thread, so read other threads before u create one KTHX

Im looking for a good single player RPG doesnt have to be new but i would like something with a good story, Real Time combat kinda like oblivion but maybe a bit more tactical or challenging, and an open world where i dont have to strictly follow the storyline 100% of the time.

Looking for a windows one not console

I have played

Mass Effect

Oblivion(multiple times)

Vampire the Masquerade-Redemption and Bloodlines(beaten multiple times)

KOTOR1-2(multiple times)

Fable

I cannot agree with you here. The reason wow is so succeful this is because they have bring a game play where people dont have to think to play. Most people doesnt want to brokek they head on a wall in a game, they just want to log and have fun without thinking that it.

Dont take me wrong i like sandbox but most people doesnt. So if a sandbox game can have 100 thousand players this is a succes.

I dont meen to be mean but seriously L2English a little bit

On Topic

I think blizzards next mmo could be a sandbox since I think I read somewhere that they are making a new mmo not based of any of there other games or of an existing IP, dont remember where i read that or even if i did( I get confused sometimes)

he mentioned DnD like alignment system

and if DDO is dungeons and dragons online shouldnt it be DnDO kinda like WoW, AoC, TCoS, LOTRO, CoH,

Just so ppl like me dont get confused

Head over to the darkfall forums and do some research, you'll find a lot of quotes on things like NPC AI from ppl who have fought them in beta.

The AI is suppose to be incredibly intelligent, so the PvE should be one of the best of any MMO.

The skills are, unless im wrong, suppose to be between 500-3000 different skills.

Unless theyve changed things drastically, there's a lot of skills. For example, melee combat.

There's Melee Combat, which consists of multiple skills.
There's Mounted Combat, which has 2-3 skills just for mounted combat alone, separate from melee combat.
There's many many different crafting and harvesting (Mining, Baking, Fishing, Farming, Trapping, hunting, armorsmith, weaponsmith, blacksmith, whitesmith, cooking, BROILING, frying) lol okay jk about the cook/broil/fry, i think anyways.

I wouldnt be surprised if there's a skill for everything.

You've gotten better at breathing (1).

what if u dont buy the breathing skill , and that seriously makes me wonder about walking, running, climbing, swimming,(sleeping?)

about the skills i dont think there going to be 3000 cause thats alot, i think he said 500 spells and skill

Explain exactly how getting a set amount of xp and then spending it on character points is different from a level based game, except that there is no visible level number.  If you count how many batches of points you have recieved that is your level.

There are levels yes, but rather than having certain skills that improve automatically as you level, or stats that do the same, you can control exactly what you do with those points, so you have full control over your character's advancement. Also, depending on how wisely you spend your points, a level 30 could actually be a better fighter than a level 50, you don't know just by their level. So say I spent all of my time crafting and was a level 50 blacksmith, it would just say level 50. Thus the playing field is leveled by not knowing just how dangerous your opponent actually is.

thats y its no good cause a level 30 could be a BETTER fighter DEPENDING on how he spent his skills.

So really he isnt better/more skilled he just made wiser decisions.

Example of how this system would make skill meaningless and favor the person who spends more time playing.

Lets say the level 30 guy uses swords all the time and he decided to put every skill point that he could into swords and its like 90 or something, then comes the lvl 50 guy who alos uses swords all the time and decides to put every skill point that he gets into swords so his sword skill is 150, now if they fight eachother with the exact same sword and the exact same equipment and theres no technical issues then the 50 guy wins.

I dnt like

But that's the same right now. A person who spend 50 hours playing with the sword will have a higher skill in swords than the one playing for 30 hours. Will he automatically win? I doubt it, but he will have an advantage. How serious? No one knows.

No different from the other option.

Theres 2 differences the first being he wont auto win just cause he has a higher skill lvl, the second is the guy whose lvl 50 wont get extra points to put in other skills just cause hes higher lvl than the 30 guy

Better example.      As before the lvl 30 guy put all his extra skill points into swords so its 90, now the 50 guy comes along and has 150 points to spend(every level u get 3 points) and he decides 100 is enough for swords and he decides to put 50 into shields, or even 25 shields 25 healing magick so now when he fights the lvl 30 guy he has a huge advantage just because he could lvl other skills without using them.

Thats y i dont want a skill point, where the ammount of skillpoints u get has anything to do with XP/Levels, and not with how long u use the skill, or even better how WELL u use the skill.
