I've only spent holidays in game when there were no other options available but they don't tend to be that much different than any other day in game. Do what you feel like doing- it really depends on your priorities/preferences.

I said both; many of us just haven't gotten with the times- the whole electronic landscape has changed drastically since '99 and newer gamers and casual gamers alike are just more easily satisfied than some of the vocal minority of "old timers."

On the other hand, in a business sense it would be stupid of the publishers to require devs to make decisions that would hurt the marketability/popularity of their product as well as put more money into it than the project would require to turn a profit. If the players will accept less then the pubs are happy to give less and charge more.

Get the majority of gamers to have higher expectations of their games and then something might happen.

Crafting as late game content? I'm not seeing it. I haven't played in a couple of weeks, but last time I checked, it's more profitable to sell the materials you've gathered than leveling up your crafting. You're better off mining orichalcum and running DEs if you need gold to buy your Exotics. With that said, If you've got a bit of gold to splash and you want to level a character as fast as possible, crafting is your best bet.

Same here. I used Avast happily until some time ago they pushed through an update for x64 but incorrectly used x32 that had me out of commission for a couple of days. I'll be damned if I ever use them again.

Regardless if they all trolling or serious- once you stop feeding them (block the ones you notice only complaining) the boards become a nicer place.

I'd have to agree with Rift (come the expansion), EQ2, and would add Vanguard to the list.

They are all good trinity games with their own strengths. Finding a mature group of gamers is possible in most games but the more popular and well-known that game is the more of a needle in a haystack it will be to find them.

Fortunately, all three of these games have a form of limited trial, so try them out and see if any of them stick.

Read the entire thread, and I can agree with most points in the OP. GW2 just comes off as lackluster.

But for me this has nothing to do with the lack of a carrot- my carrot has always been whether or not I feel like playing. If I feel like playing MMOs I go to that; if I feel like a FPS or console game I have ones of those I enjoy as well.

The biggest loss I've felt has only to do with community- as the friends I've made in MMOs since I started in EQ1 choose RL more and more over MMOs I find it increasingly difficult to find like-minded individuals in these games and without people that I desire to log in to interact with why not just play single player RPGs or other genres that do combat, story, and graphics far better than MMOs do?

To the OP- who are you apologizing to and why would anyone on these boards want an apology for you not subscribing to Rift? Do you do this for every MMO you try?

I've seen the suggestion for this posted on the boards since I registered here and the only argument against was "it's not worth the time/money" for different servers with different rules. I'd be happy to see that proven false.

No one is telling them to stop liking the parts of the game they enjoy.

What I see in this thread is that there is no guarantee of those players receiving what they seek from spending real money on keys so they have no one to blame but themselves if they chose to do that and didn't get the skins.

Feeling like you have to have something is no proof of being entitled to it. It's nothing more than a check of self-control and some just don't have it.

I'd choose Nova- of all the super heroes listed he and Thor are the only ones with power at the cosmic level.

GW2 because I bought it already and there's no sub. While I enjoy the atmosphere and skillwheel of the Secret World far more it's just not worth a subscription to me.

There was a time when such things were just subtle jokes that one had to look for if they wanted to find them. In today's games they are crammed down our throats.

To the OP: when role-play and immersion were a major drawing point to MMORPGs you wouldn't see nearly as much of this but the preferences of the majority of MMO gamers has changed. You might be able to get away from it in current MMORPGs if you stay away from western titles but otherwise it's a lost cause. The number of players that have joined since WoW have simply overtaken the majority and when it comes to immersion and RP they don't care.

OP, the only benefit I've seen for crafting aside from the XP is for making a bit of money off the TP.

There was an addon in WoW that did the research for you called LilSparky's Workshop where it would check all the mats necessary for the recipes you knew and tell you which ones would turn a profit based on the cost of the raw mats at the AH- in GW2 you can turn a profit the same way but it's up to you to do the research.

Now, weapons, armor, trinkets, etc. seem to be saturated/undercut to be more or less pointless to bother with but the items you can craft that can be used to craft weapons, armor, trinkets, etc. can still turn a profit.

Yesterdays patch stopped the ability to reset the DR by logging out. It now seems to be account based and will keep you penalized for several hours across all your characters according to player reports.

I see, thanks for the correction. I can't say I agree with Anet on this policy but thankfully I have alts to play in different level ranges.

I had it happen to me in Straits of Devastation earlier this week when I tagged along with a DE chain zerg of players that repeated the same four or five events. Once it kicked in I logged out to character select, logged back in immediately, and everything was back to normal.

I'm thinking the complaints are much ado about nothing.

Similar to this, I wouldn't mind having weekly updates for bug fixes and stability issues and for content updates I'd say once or twice a quarter.

I haven't cared for the personal story at all on two of my three characters, not against instancing per se but the stories haven't even been slightly compelling- I suppose TSW has spoiled me for that.

Depends on the game and what's available- I mostly prefer buffing/debuffing classes more than anything else for PvE, for PvP I prefer burst dps/cc
