Where the hell is my TRON MMO? It seems like an easy and natural choice for a developer out there somewhere.... That is all. |

I haven't been able to play df for free for 2 months up to launch...CLEARLY this game is going to fail. No one even knows about or is talking about this game without any advertising...what are they thinking...and where can I go to post how much fail DF will be? You guys DO know what Darkfall is right? I mean, no one has ever heard of it since there isn't a banner on *___insert generic favorite game site___*

Unfortunately you have made a positive post about Darkfall OP. Now your thread must be diluted and mixed with retarded anti DF posts. |
|
Gamers are such a needy and spoiled bunch of self important children. |

These are all great scenarios OP :) Good questions which will be interesting to see how it all works out. But consider this: All of these scenarios you have presented, they all sound like things that happen in battle (from a medieval perspective..even up to today). Unfortunately, I'm not sure that much of this can be 100% prevented against. That being said, I'm not sure the 'gankfest 2009' will be nearly as bad as some people think. Will it be the 'wild west' out there? Yes. Will the pk'rs and the gankers run rampant for very long unchecked? No. |
|
I know PvE is not what DF is about...of course not.
To the OP: I'm comin....I'm comin to CHANGE your game and water down yor peeveepeez!!!1! |
|
|
nope, absolutely not. I like darkfall and want to play, but i'm more interested in PvE, so they are going to have to change the game in a bunch of ways and i'm going to see to it that they do... it's unavoidable, you may as well accept it. If PvE games have to suffer the tantrums of PvPers, then the PvP games must now hear the tantrums of PvE'rs...... Your game is going to change. |
|
|
I think i'll become a carebear, get involved with this game, and come push for PvE all over and try to limit PvP on every server. ...you know, sort of like how PvP folks come to every PvE game and demand and howl for PvP until it wrecks the PvE world ;) Thanks for the idea m8 |

looking for the opinion of SWG vets on another game

I don't know if you'll find your home with LOTRO...I'm a huge LOTR fan and really wanted to like it, but was a bit bored with it after a while. It is not even CLOSE to a sandbox/SWG style game. It is a great game, don't get me wrong, but it isn't what you are looking for I think. Something I recently gave a shot was Ryzom. Right now it's free to try with no limitations. It's purely skill based, no level restrictions for grouping, no 'hand holding' quest style grinding or anything like that. You can customize and create your own spells and combat moves. It has a decent crafting, foraging, combat, magic system that lets you really flesh out the play style that suits you. I would suggest going to the site, DLing it and giving it a shot while it's still free. It's much more about exploration and hunting than questing. So you may like it. It's not SWG, but it is as close to it as I can see for now. I like it and will probably continue playing it for a while, maybe even subbing. Good luck in whatever you play! |

...and that's another thing, there's no fear in today's MMO's either!

My reflection of EverQuest, hate it or like it.

Nice post. Good memories from EQ, many of the same that you cited. EQ was my first MMORPG and it will always have a fond spot in my heart. Some of my favorite memories? - Hunting in West Commons when giants still ran free. "GIANT!" ..and everyone would proceed to run to the top hill edges of the map until the big oaf would lumber in another direction. Also, "Watch out. Griff coming!" - TRAIN!!!!!!! (pick any zone or dung) - "Anyone have any water?" (desert) - "Don't jump down that hole.." (then someone would jump down the hole) TRAIN!!!! - "How long till the boat comes?" - Getting drunk in the treetop city of Kelethin (?)

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 with 2g of RAM but no graphical abilities whatsoever. Put it this way: Shotline looks ok, but there is some lag in the "clicking process" so it is sort of unplayable to me. I have installed the origional DOOM (and all it's sequals), and it plays fine online with others. So I'm not sure if I need an MMO (or any good game really) that renders in software mode or what, but I need some ideas to try out, preferably free ones ;) . Thanks |

Suggest appropraite RPG for a 10 year old?
Role Playing Discussion « General Discussion 4/13/08 8:18:40 PM
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Toontown by disney. (of if they have I missed it) I think that is probably the safest MMO for young kids. They have a lot of great safeguards in it to protect kids. Sure, it's not a kick ass MMO with great quests, violence, and skills...but it's a good game for kids to learn about MMOs at a basic level (teaming up with people, teamwork, and social interaction. That would be my first recommendation. |
