Ok I just noticed that the contest for the IGG stuff ended like 2hours ago and the results still are not up anyone know how long it takes for them to actually get the results up? I've missed out on a winner before cause of the 24 hours deal but I figured that was because they almost instantly apply the results... what's the deal? |

Ya csthao, I also got that same message. Fortunately i also receieved a special offer from Funcom the other day to reactivate my old AOC account for cheap so i already was back in and didn't have to get disappointed by that message! Hopefully they get it fixed cause if I get a "fake win" on a big prize i am not going to be happy! |

How would you feel about a play along with Tv MMO? (edit* if it was Star Wars)
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/12/08 2:41:23 PM
The idea is something to be had in the future for sure. The idea of mixing the two types of entertainment gives everyone a bonus. With the ability to stream the show live even within the game itself... people will have no need for a tv or the channel. The advertisers would most likely be happy to be hitting double the market and provide more money which would allow the company that does it a better income source and hopefully lower the monthly costs. As for keeping up with the content.. most shows don't create new "sets" every week so there would not be a TON of work really. These scripts are prewritten anyways so setting them up in advance "shouldn't" be too difficult. The REAL cherry of an idea that could spawn from this is having the actual in game battles/advents/conclusions effect the shows or be broadcast on TV. That would be cool. As for the vMTV it's just There.com with added crap lol not sure how much it is like the OP's idea. More so an old dead vworld being pumped up.

Thanks i went to check that out, but i cannot bring myself to give some random company my street address and phone number so i can tell them what's broke in their game. If they left that part out i might have signed up.

See that's the thing i played AO paid for .. since like a couple weeks after beta heh Now these "free" accounts would have me start all over again to play for free while my high level characters sit docile and unplayable for free. I just can't bring myself to do that again. :( This is the only reason i don't play AO right now. |

So there is no such game in existence? :( |

That's just it tho most of these have item malls so they DO make money and in order to be the "best" you need to buy these items so they aren't completely free especially for a true gamer... I am ok with that but i'd like to see something decent in return :(
I've got the US Perfect World installed, just waiting on the servers to come online lol |

Is there such a thing? I mean i've tried out numerous F2P games and it seems to me they are all copies of each other.. i mean yes different story lines and different play styles here an there, but it's all one big boring grindfest with minimal questing.. little "fun" things to do and basically 0 crafting. Not to mention usually something like 3 races with the same 3-4 classes each with minimal differences. Perhaps i haven't looked hard enough or maybe it just doesn't exist but is there a decent F2P mmo out there? I call decent - English speaking playerbase, Open PvP or Pvp options, Not so cookie cutter character classes, Not a complete grindfest to max level (maybe some decent storyline with quests? or just quests), a decent crafting system or a crafting system at all... Genre really don't matter to me i just want to have something new for a change. Non fun mmo's to me the 100+ F2P korean mmo's littered with the gold farmers that made them. I've played Anarchy Online and Shadowbane.. those are just a bit dated to me. Is there anything new or semi-new that i've missed?! Thanks in advance. |

So, I'm just checking in after a few months away, Do they have a worldbuilding MMO yet?
Open Beta Discussion « General Discussion 11/07/07 4:56:41 PM
Yes SB is pretty old, but still surprisingly has a following and flow of dedicated players.. and it's free so that helps. Secondlife is A LOT of things... it's hard to put it into words exactly. There are of course like you said sex addicted freaks that like to whack off to pixels on there having sex with eachother, but there are a ton of other things to do. Granted they just had to get rid of gambling which kinda sucks, but i am sure there's an underground for that going on lol Also CSI just got some sort of thing done inside SL where you can play out your CSI fun! There's an in game RPG called Everdark or something like that lol an MMO inside an MMO quite an interesting concept. Granted it's all based on an old engine and the graphics aren't the best out there muchless physics. However, in the testing right now is the havok 4 engine so that's not too far off i'd imagine with many improvements to the game. Granted either you spend real cash or you find a way to earn linden cash which now is boiled down to creating a unique fun game to play or interesting objects to sell etc... easy money is a thing in the past with SL :(

You want a REAL realistic economy with the ultimate sandbox you may want to look into secondlife if you haven't already, but that's more a virtual world then an mmo. Only a few mmo's come to mind that work somewhat like this Shadowbane and Anarchy Online, both have battles for land SB has battles for resources. The crafting is pretty much just stockpile and dumb into a merchant and AO's crafting system leaves a lot to be desired. Both are free to play though.
I would like a newer game like those, but that doesn't seem to be happening anytime real soon.

Oh and also wouldn't class time be 24 hours of class time if you have 6 classes that meet "twice a week" at an hour per class? So with all things left full you would be at what? -16 hours free time? :D Don't get me wrong not saying i don't believe you, just takes one hell of a disciplined person to put forward that kind of effort i just need to get over being lazy lol. |

Ok here's the jist of it. I got Vanguard for the first month and didn't like it so i used the SOE website to cancel. Much to my surprise i recieved a billing on my bank statement from them. So i checked the site and sure enough my account was still active. Ok i figured i must have made an error the first time.
So i redid the cancel, twice and both times got the window saying Your account is cancelled, thank you for your patronage (something like that). I check the account and still active? Ok well Live support cancels it for me and says i will recieve an email about trying to obtain a refund. Apparently from the looks of things their cancellation system is as buggy as their game so be warned if your trying to cancel. DOUBLE CHECK. |
