I guess I am neither competitive enough or raid oriented enough to perhaps appreciate voice chat. I've played MMO's up to this point with no competition in mind. I don't race to end game and never feel as if I'm competing with everybody else on being the first one there. The raiding aspect of the game is also one that does not appeal to me and since I tend not to do it I don't see the reason for voice chat. I've played counter strike plenty of times and have used the voice chat built in to talk to people but as it was stated before only a small part of the chatter was actually game oriented. I'd go as far to say that 85%+ of it did not pertain to the game. Same with guild vent. When I went on raids a few times you'd have your leader give some general rules and guidelines early on and then periodically call out things as the game rolls on but in between there would be dead air or silence. The other MMO's I've played before voice chat became a prominent fixture have done just fine without it. The raids went on, and people got their items regardless. Maybe it's my belief that the PvE aspect of a game shouldn't really be competitive. I think it should be an experience, not a race. When I PvE I don't think about getting something before Tom, Dick, or Harry. I just think about fun and if I'm having any at this point in time. |

I find the OP's thinking somewhat shallow. As it was pointed out, some games don't have jumping because it does not suit the context. Space ships don't jump. Lets assume for a second that Auto Assault did not fail and in fact was a good game and people were playing it. How the hell are you gonna make a car jump? Short of making it look like a low rider with hydraulic pumps the best you might be able to get is a small hop and even then it's debatable. |

Ok, all the ratings aside can I write to FunCom personally and have them ship me the game without any rating so that I can enjoy the product as it was created without random idiots forcing their views on me? Seeing as I'm an adult I should be able to make the call for myself. Will the 18+ everywhere else version with decapitations, gore and NIPPLES (OMG!) be available to people all over the world or will they somehow be localized and disallowed outside their designated areas? |

I for can not blindly follow something like this. If you ask me my God would not limit me in such a way. Be free to make my own decisions and live how I choose, where I choose because after all I was granted FREE WILL. I am glad that you at least gave DAoC a chance. It is a lot more then most people out there would at this time who are coming into the genre.
I usually take a different approach to games when I first try them. This is the reason why I have a bit of a problem with your approach but to each his own. I generally take about a week to get to know all there is to know in a game by doing as much of it myself with the help of someone who has done it. DAoC is a game that came out at the beginning of the boom of MMORPG's and as time goes on, games get more streamlined and evolve, be it good or bad. Even then the opinion of good or bad is very relative depending on who commenting on it. When I first started playing DAoC it was my first mmo and I don't think I'll ever forget the feeling I got when I first ran it. This may be why I will probably defend this game till my dieing day. I personally like games where not everything is handed to you. I want to be able to explore and figure things out. That was part of the attraction to the game. The different types of armor and their resistances to different attacks. The resists and magic and how you had to co-ordinate your attacks depending on what you were fighting. For instance if you were fighting Ants, or other bugs with hard shells you'd want to find players who specialize in blunt or crushing attacks or find out what the bugs were weak to such as cold magic and bring casters with you that specialized in said kind of magic. I think the game had plenty of depth and a lot of things you had to take into account. It was not as simple as picking up a sword or a bow and shooting just about anything you see blindly without any forethought. But like I said, I'm glad you gave it a shot. I am sorry that you could not have the same experience that I have had and I'm sure others have had as well. I hope you have the greatest of luck in finding the game that will instill the same feelings I have toward DAoC as well as bring you countless hours of fun no matter how you find it. |

You can't walk into your local 7/11 and say I'm going to buy this ticket and I'm going to pick the numbers that are guaranteed to win. You can however go out and pay $29.99 for a stack of platinum in EQ. |

Throwing insults and bashing a company based on a personal lack of knowledge due to lack of research is kind of hypocritical if you ask me. |

As far as I can tell it's got elements of free for all type stuff mixed with guild versus guild combat where guilds own keeps and fight for territory. |

The thing is, the gold sellers are still paying money to FunCom. If they start banning sellers and whatnot they would be loosing out on revenue. Depending on how big of a gold seller population there is that could add up to quite a good chunk of change. It then comes down to capitalism and weather the money is more important then integrity. |

I would see others around and I'd talk to them, share info and stuff.. because who knows, maybe they know something I don't. Back then there was no Thottbot.com or Wowhead.com equivalent to guide me by my hand through the things. There are quite a few quests and their wording was somewhat cryptic so that you had to go out and explore and ask people who might have done it. I think this fulfilled the community aspect of the game.
The game does feature an /advice channel, and there are people who are quite willing to help you out regarding a majority of your problems. There is pvp from lvl 1. All you have to do is ask someone and they'd be more then willing to point you in the direction. I'd suggest you level off of the pvp action as much as you can because it tends to yield better exp. However if you are a pve person there are quite a bit of different mobs out there with various abilities to fight. There are numerous dungeons to explore that tend to have a person or 2 in there already... well they used to anyways that you could probably join and go kill with. DAoC was never billed as a solo killing game like you perhaps did in WoW where you make a new toon and run out and just slaughter things by the dozens. People generally looked for groups because it was more efficient and usually way more fun.

The GORE factor here is of the scale. People getting mangled is a common theme in the movie. If you're sensitive to violence or hate the site of blood and exploding bodies and their assorted parts then don't go see it. Other then that, like the OP said, it's all about action and shooting and killing. I personally think it lacked somewhat in a very important are, that being naked women. Other then that I think it was worth my $11.95 but I had to sleep on it to come to that conclusion. |

Just so you know, Savage 2 is not exactly classified as MMORPG. It's more of a cross between RTS and FPS since it has both aspects of it. It doesn't have a persistent world since when you win you start over on a new map kind of like counter strike. The "commander" or leader has a RTS game so he sees the whole thing from a top down perspective and spends resources strategically for upgrades and junk. |

I voted "couldn't care less" but I feel that I could care less but that would simply require too much effort on my part and is hence forth not worth it. |
