Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: Producer's Letter Assuages WAR Fears
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/15/09 7:29:10 PM
i went back for thier 10 day welcome back offer . i always did enjoy the scenarios in this game and had great fun with my squig herder . unfortunatly they d deleted him which put me off for a start so i was left with my t4 runepriest . which i did nt mind too much i did manage after quite a wait each time to get into a few scenarios . but roaming around the game world was quite a lonely experiance . i always felt warhammer had great potential but sadly these days it lacks one vital element . enough people to make it work . |

i actually see the logic of leveling through the bgs for some players that have leveled multiple alts and really cant stand to do all those same old quests again . being able to get xp via the battlegrounds is something Blizzard might have got right . sadly i cant say the same for just about everything else . |

Vanilla servers or Advanced servers ( those without all the changes Blizzard implimented to make the game easy )would make me re-roll . Both types of servers would most likly attract older players . What i missed most about WoW at the end was the community . I m really glad i got into lord of the rings online while i was still playing WoW . still a great community in that game and i also enjoy playing the new games that come out . 5 years ago my gaming advice to myself would be to play 2 years and give up and not stay in the hope things would improve . |

Are the MMORPGs doomed since WoW was released?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 11/15/09 11:37:45 AM
I think it may take many years for the mmorpg genre to break free of the Warcraft mentality . Dont get me wrong i thought it was a great game at release and remained so untill the last couple of years . So many bad choices have been made now that it lacks any kind of atmosphere an community . other fantasy mmos do have something to offer . i ve tried most of them and non of them are as bad as a lot of people in these forums would have you think . future consol designs will proberbly be mmo friendly and we shall see a whole new wave of games comeing along which wont be as constrained in graphical content to appeal to the masses as thier PC counterparts . No i dont think the future of mmos is doomed its just going through a bad period at the moment . As for a WoW2 being a huge success thats not exactly a given just look at Everquest 2 . I dont think there will a success on the scale of WoW for a long time but there will be plenty of game coming along that ll be successful and WoW already appears not to have lost subcriptions this year . given they hav nt given an offical statement on how many people are playing WoW in nearly a year we can assume that things arnt as good as they have been in the past . |

Will Cataclysm exp. bring wow closer to vanilla route/roots?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 11/14/09 3:33:58 PM
the problem is they would have to change so much that current players have got used to before they d even aproximate the game as it was 3+ years ago . for instance players can now roll allie and horde on the same server not a problem if its a pve server but on a pvp one it leads to a lot of verbal abuse and again its led to a lack of community . if i was to pinpoint when i felt the game first started to go down hill i would say it was when faster leveling was introduced . other players would i know say they felt it was earlier than that when they changed how your earned rewards from the battle grounds . i loved WoW in its first three years and really hope it becomes something worth playing on a regular basis again one day . But i really cant see that happening so many (imo) awful decisions have been made that it is almost beyond redemption now . |

Blizzard allow multi factions on a single PvP Realm
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 11/13/09 2:49:03 PM
a friend told me about this a couple of nights ago . apparently he got ganked repeatedly around tanaris . went back onto his main and got his own back then had his ganked come onto thier allie account verbalily abuse him . he was so mad he got in contact with a gm and complained about them but he said its just killed it for him . a lot of the fun being on a pve server was the us and them mentality . theres no problem with it on a pve server because to some degree when i played on aerie peak thier was an amiable attitude between the two factions . on a pve server all your going to get is the same horrible atmosphere you get on a pvp server on age of conan . i ve predicted many of the things that i thought were bringing this game down but to be honest this was one line i thought they would never cross . because it fundamentally destroys the atmosphere of the game . more so than anything else they have done in recent years . i guess it comes down to this if you can live with these changes and still enjoy paying to play each month good for you . if you dont .....leave . theres plenty of other games available free and pay to play that are looking better with every mistakethat has been made my current feeling towards WoW are that i think its a good game but its run by a company that does nt have any respect for its players . its great for short term play and offers a lot of fun for a few months and is ok as something to play for the odd month . the pvp is great fun if a little imbalanced . as a gameworld community it could and should be better . it may not even be Blizzard but Activision thats to blame for the way the games gone .All this really only started to happen after they got involved |

what will interest me is how this all progresses . will Blizzard stick at vanity items or go further with xp boosts . mounts . dances and emotes before finally offering real game changers like armor and weapons . lots of people say it wont go that far but i m not so sure . a lot of things have happened recently that i never thought i d see . pve-pvp transfers , race and faction changes . as for people willing to spend money on virtual pets well .... a fool and his money are soon parted . |

while i support Blizzard donations to the make a wish foundation via the new rmt pet store I also think it is a cynical ploy to get people used to this type of mircopayment model .

Originally posted by templarga Actually, they NEVER said RMT won't happen....just the opposite. They said it was something they would consider. And to be honest with you, nothing you listed there has a direct impact on gameplay and everything was asked for by the community. Again we get back to those who play WOW and those who don't. The only ones complaining, for the most part, do not and will not play WOW again so it doesn't matter. I, for one, have been quite happy with the options and the changes. And yes it is an OPTION. it is optional. You have the choice to use the services or not. Funny, throughout all of those changes and options, Blizzard's sub numbers did what....oh yeah, that's right, they increased. So yeah I do not think those were major issues. The only people who don't like it, for the most part, already hate Blizzard and hate WOW and now just have more things to whine and complain about. actually faction changes do have an impact on gameplay . because on some servers people in the alliance have got fed up with being out numberd by the horde so have changed and how the alliance are they even more outnumbered. i dont think its people who just done like warcraft dont like whats happening here either . its people who love it or used to love it . its a slippery slope which bliz are going down . and all but the most rabid fanbois are starting to realise this .
Actually the argument is a slippery slope. And no, faction changes do not impact gameplay at all and if you think they do, then prove it. EDIT: I have not seen one server or heard of any players that have complained that faction changes have led to poor gameplay. Actually, just the opposite. More people have welcomed the opportunity because the game is so big and diverse. People act as if everyone ran out and changed factions and I have not seen any major changes on either of the 2 major servers on which I play. Just the opposite. People want to THINK it imbalances gameplay because its somethign esle to argue about. The truth is, there are so many people on each server, it works itself out. And honestly, not that many people are going to pay the money for it (hence the cost). maybe you ve not been looking . theres plenty that exist and plenty of people posting about the problem . funnily i thought a game would come along and be the WoW killer but i m starting to think its Blizzards greed that will eventually bring down the game now . I think even fans will be supprised how far Blizzard will take this rmt thing if they think they can get away with it .

while i support Blizzard donations to the make a wish foundation via the new rmt pet store I also think it is a cynical ploy to get people used to this type of mircopayment model . this is a time honored way of sugar coating something that a lot of people are against . it would be different if 100 percent of these profits when to charitable causes and i would really be the first in the que in saying how amazing Blizzard was for doing it But they know this is a contentious issue and now at least it gives the fanbois the .... well its good for charity arguement . well it is but its even better for Blizzard but long term its not good for the player base . Its a very slippery slope they ve chosen to go down and if you think it ll end at just pets now then you really are fooling yourself . |

General Discussion « World of Warcraft 11/04/09 7:17:47 PM
LOL it does nt bother me one iota . Make you wonder if Blizzard read these forums then make policey :P who knows you may have me to thank for these item stores/shops etc ( JOKE in case any of you are stupid enough to think i m serious ) perhaps they ll listen to me on ADVANCED SERVERS hahaha
heres a few other things to put in your item shop/store .... dances , emotes , mounts , cosmetic/vanity cloaths (although that would miff off tailors ). shame you dont have player housing yet you could expand it even more , imagine all those decortations and that furnature people would buy . may as well rip off the sims as well .

lol i love this i actually said this would happen a little over a week ago . in my opening post on this thread about the possibility of class changes i suggest Blizzard will open some type of item shop for cosmetic items such as exotic mounts , pets etc . and here it is happening . hate to say to all the wow fanbois i told you so but i did. even i am a little shocked how fast they made my forcast a reality . it really made me laugh .

Originally posted by coffee No where in this thread did you state "this will add an item store". I can read. well the english dont call them stores they call them shops . as you can see i said "a type of item shop "..... read it again . rmt is type of item SHOP or store as the americans like to call them . its a bit like they call a walkway along the side of the road a sidewalk where as we call it a pavement . its all there in black and white . and i m used calling items cosmetic that you proberbly call vanity items . |

You never actualy said "they will add item shops". You also said I m actually not against a cosmetic item shop . Cosmetic items dont interfere with gameplay so as long as you ve worked to get your first epic mount epic/ flying mount i have no problem with people buying something a little different . Same thing with pets . So what are you banging on about, you said you support the idea of a vanity shop Oh and whats next weeks lottery numbers? And BTW this is just a vanity pet store, not an item store.
i m not against it . but i was right about it . the selling of virtual pets is rmt or an item shop by any other name . you know what i ment your just trying to be picky ... you go to a webpage select a pet buy it the pets an item ... thats an item shop . pick away at it whatever way you want . i know what i ment and so do you and i was right . hav nt aclue about the lottery numbers but i can tell you know WoWs subscription numbers are down . it does nt take a crystal ball to see where things are going just a little common sence . |

http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/257632 I recently argued that Blizzard would make cosmetic items such as pets and exoctic mounts available in an rmt item store in my thread about the possibility for paid for class changes being implimented into the game at some time . Lots of you have said this day would never come and you were wrong . Blizzard will use anything to make money and mark my words the next thing WIll be paid for class changes . and it will be a lot sooner than you think . |
