no matter how well a system is done, once its in players hands, you cant controll the beast. if you did you would just restirct freedom of play/spending etc

From what I have seen as long as the CS is not redicouls, or lets you P2W, it alllows people to customize their expeirence of the game, and spend their money the way they want. yes Sub'ing can be less expensive...but its just another option.

I do have to say that i just went back to SWTOR and some of the lock outs/CS buys are IMO wtf, a good example is making some one buy the option to Hide/Show helmet, and extra hotbars....I was like REALLY??

got my LNC to level 20, so I had storage space, unlocked 4 battle classes 2 craftting classes, 2 gathering classes. Working on my Marauder right now, got my Carpentry to 17, botany to 18. Still Not level 50. I dont fate grind...maybe i will with an alt class. but my main class just dont feel the need to rush to end game.

EVERY MMO in the last 10 years has some sort of Gear Grind at the end or token aquisistion. I do have to say that Lotros Relic system is a cool idea for end game, and rifts elemental atuning system seems a nice touch to end game mechanics. Once you hit end game what do you expect there to be? people complain about not ENOUGH content (usually the ones who rush threw the games) and never say what they mite want at end game, just state "Another Gear Grind"

ya the sucky part, one of the reasons bioware went with that graphic style was to accomidate lower end systems :(
Rift by far was  the best launch out of all the MMOs I have played.

People can debate these facts of boring/grindy etc to death. But in the end its personal preferences/styles that determine what feels grindy/boring...for the most part, I know there are games out there that are GRIND fests, ive played them. I have also played games that I did not like, but never called them boring specificly, just for me, it was a good game...just not my taste.

I love my coffee with Cream and Sugar, How about you?

Thing is about the MORE realistic, is its more intense on systems, and as devs are trying to attract more players, realisticly speaking, unless its a niche game, we more than likely will not see an MMO with high end realistic Graphics. as long as the color palette stays similar to The ES Series it should look fine/be fine.

Not having any problems with grindyness.. at the first playthrough you dont need to do ANYTHING but quests and will never have to grind... looking at how me and some guildmembers went you can almost lvl 2 classes to 50 without having to grind alot

and innovation.. you mean the flashy things that the worst mmo's use to attract people to their game? not a single game has had a USEFULL innovation since about the first mmo ever... its always useless addition that attracts people to their game which they then leave 1 month after because they notice how bad it is. I prefer a normal mmo based on solid gameplay instead of 500 useless additional features

The "Check out all the COOL things we are putting/trying to do in our MMO" Followed by CGI hype trailers :)

There is really not much inovation to be had, as most of it has been done. Now is the time to use what we have and apply it in a fun and engaging manner. A good example, at least from my persepctive are FPS, they all basicly have the same/similar mechanice IE Left Mouse Button:Fire Main Weapon, R: Reload, G/F/Right Mouse Button: Throw grenade, etc...but yet the CoD, and BF games are still very successful because of good GAME design.

No hyperbole here - this is a VERY polished game with possibly the best crafting system since SWG (it's still early yet but it's overwhelming how much you can do) Problems at launch will fade away as people get into the game - new servers are being added and upgraded as I type this.

You don't have to have 10 alts - you can create one character if you want and just skill up anything and everything! Just switch weapons and you switch combat/crafting profs in a flash...including gear for each. (I have wanted this is a AAA MMO since I've been playing). I did play Darkfall Online which had that kind of setup but the grind was terrible.

Joking right? :-)

Game engine rocks and is smooth and the environment is one of the most beautiful I've seen - you name it. The detail is spectacular across the board - from avatars to animals to landscape to buildings...etc.

Here however I agree fully with you. No matter how many players in same location lag is very minimal or none at all. We have real night/day feeling, weather conditions, .... Best part of game for sure. Imo of course.

One big surprise to me (I'm new to FF) is the story...I find myself really getting into the story. Some cut scenes even have vocals and the voice acting is very well done. Some of the stuff is cutesy but not overdone.

To me ... one of the worst. Silly bubble sistem instead being presented with whole text, one must click and click ... and click ... just to get over boring text (in garbage english normal people do not understand, so i do not even bother to read many times that garbage). And what is also bad idea ... impossible to cancel in middle of dialog to start over ... must again click and click and click ... to get to bottom. Boring as hell and kills any wish to read. As i can see others they do nearly same as me .. just skip all to end.

About voices ... after played swtor any other is just bad, plainly bad. Here all npc's are obviously mute. It feels terible. I'm missing at least some "Hi, friend". But no, just mute.'s still early on but after playing so many MMO's - and I swore up and down after Star Wars The Old Republic that I was NOT going to buy another game at launch - but I'm glad I did) I can safely give this one a BIG thumbs up!

Swtor is my no1, followed by wow. Then ... void for long time.

I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan (no I'm not fat - just a "big fan" hehe) I  really wanted to like SWTOR...I really did. I was in beta...bought 2 Deluxe Editions (one for my wife) but the lifeless terrain...poor server performance issues, combat imbalance and lack of any meaningful crafting made it impossible. The cut scenes were well done but the rest of the game was a "void" in my opinion.

FF AAB has renewed that "can't wait to wake up and play" feeling...something I haven't had since SWG - my void has lasted way too long. I mean...I'm literally overwhelmed at what to do 1st - the crafting alone will take a LONG time to master. And - the next patch will feature personal estates and instanced neighborhoods - something a lot of people are really looking forward to.

For anyone interested in playing - don't rush to 50 and miss out on the excellent class story...despite not being voiced for every scene - the story is engaging and makes you feel more like a part of the wonderful world they've created.

Its been, well since FF11( ok SWtor was good too), that a story has kept me intrested enough that im not spamming the ESC button, or dialogue. yes you can get to 50 real quick. but again if you mix it up with crafting and other activites its just more fulfilling..well at least for me :) everyones got different play style :)

On the GCD, it was done on purpose, to give more of a tactical choice in combat. IE  the Lancer (playing atm) has abilities that depending on your position, have different effects, +damage, +damage buff, etc now ive only played to Lv.20 . Also FF11 was similar in combat speed, its (at least for me) just a different style of combat. your either going to like or not. This by far though was a good opinion of ones view on a game :)

How does having a 2.5 second GCD make your combat decisions "tactical" in any way shape form or fashion? I always hear people spouting things like "With the longer GCD, it makes your decisions more meaningful and tactical, it adds strategy" but in reality, that couldn't be farther from the truth. In fact, it is the exact opposite.

Well, like i said im only 20 , but at 20 i have one ability that has an effect if I flank them, then another one that has an effect if im behind them, etc....and honestly more meaningful skills with a 2.5 GCD, compaired to spam these 5 buttons as fast as you can is about the same imo. again i guess it just depends on what you like, and what your tastes are.

FFXIV is better.  Even with all the login issues.  Not interested in Neverwinter anymore. had potential.  It had none of my favorite classes.

it barley had any classes, 5 was just to few , especially with using the trinity.

My guess is at some point MRD 30 + THM 15 = Dark Knight as a 2H sword class

LOL just what I was thinking and my buddy is REALLY wanting

Also have to look at the oppiste end if they started with to many servers, people would start complaining about lack of population in "said amount of months. either way , the games great imo....when you can get in, im willing to bear with the server issues. I usually do something else and try again later, patience is a virtue much lost these days

And a que coupled with an afk kick time limit would have fixed a lot of the issues with not being able to get in. Poor decision making is not justified by explaining how it could be worse. It should tell you something when people are discussing stuff that disappoints us the least rather than discussing the issues at hand and playing it off like it's our patience that is the problem.

I do agree with the afk kicker, and Qe. but really we dont work for SE so we can only make assumptions as to what happend exactly and why it is the way it was, there could be 100s of reasons. But in the end I think its how they company handles the situation

funcom making lego games... what a waste :(

They always had big dreams about their mmos and were one of the few who really tried new things when everyone else were churning out the same shit year after year

yep I loved AoC for a bit, especially the combat it was Fun and brutally fun to watch!

End game,End game....what about the journey, im just wondering where all this I NEED end game content came from, did EQ have End Game content? it seems no matter what mmo comes out or how much end game content it comes OUT with its never enough :P.

Almost all the end game content Ive seen consists of Dailies and grinding Raid/instiance finders for badges....idk i just have more fun getting to max level than i do grinding gear at max level, all this rush rush to end game then freak out becuase theres not much to do because you burnt threw it, i dont get. well maybe that because i dont have 8 hours a day to play lol.

I played most of the betas for this one. Was let down with 1.0, BUT as each beta progressed I became  more and more excited for launch. I have been frustrated by the login issues, but it is a rock solid game. I even upgraded my account to collector. I have always loved FF games and look forward to this one.

One thing (major for me) that does bother me is that they did not opt to voice act more of the cut scenes. Sometimes a cut scene is half done.... appears to me that they dropped the ball or focused efforts elsewhere due to time restraints. It would have been better for me to have NO voice acting than the hodge-podge that is in the game right now. The story I absolutely love!

Honestly I played SWTOR and after awhile the voice acting got repetitive and redundant. I just got to the point in the FFxiv story where you ....ok no spoilers, but im about level 20 atm , and I am actually  enjoying the mix of Voice over and Reading dialogue. Plus I read a study that reading more often keeps Alzheimer's away >.0 {grins with some sarcazim}

As for me, I will spend time leveling my main class, then some time leveling alt classes, including crafting. I just don't see the fun in rushing in this game.

Yep me too!

there will always be the content locusts, that will eat up a game, complain about nothing to do (when there is), and then move on.

I for one was leveling my Lancer, got to level 12, decided to try out the crafting, and now am higher in my crafting class then my battle classes.

I like to eat my steak one bit at a time, not devour it like a Predator :)

Lol god forbid they do it within THEIR time zones work hours and not

They can keep their free week. They could offer 2 months free but would not cover mess they created again. All this would not be happening or problems would be much lesser if they would implement autologoff after idle (never heard about any mmo not having this). And then another "yewell" of theirs. No queue with certain number of players already in queue! So one is supposed to sit in front of computer for 12 hours constantly clicking on Ok, then Start, then ..... then to go to sleep without playing at all.

I just can not believe what they did.

Yeah, god forbid they launch a game and have a rough launch and didn't forsee the future outcome to completely waste money. How dare they then compensate their customers with additional free time for the inconvenience, those bastards....

lol, yep, any other company more than likely would have went opps are bad, but deal with it. Such entitelment attitudes these days. Now if they would have not given the free week, i could get a tad irritated my self, but honestly I had a good feeling they were going to give a free week before they even anounced it.
