It is done by another company, by another people. Was wow true successor of Warcraft? Because last i chesked i did not see any basebuilding in there.

hahahahah! this, so true in statement.

IDC if TESO is not going to have 100% of TES mechanics. As long as it has the feel, essence, and exploration that the TES games have. Thats whats important..The Essence.

Easy

Small Market/Less People to buy the game

not everyone owns a higher end machine to run mmos with High end/latest graphics.

Hell honestly its why WoW was so populaer lol , I played it on a PC from 95'

It would be nice to see though, AOC was pretty top notch when it came out, come to think of it.

Wow is a raid grinder with a side order of pointless mini game pvp

TESO has a rvr endgame

So its easier for wow to do that, it has no meaningfull impact.

True

I have a friend at work who is a gamer that loves Skyrim. He doesn't do a lot of research on games like most of us here do so I kinda look at him as an "Average Gamer". He came in the other day all excited because he had just heard about TESO and wanted to tell me all about it. I told him I had known about the game since the announcement some time ago and he asked why I wasn't as thrilled about it as he was. This is when I told him about faction locked races and the 3 faction PvP system. His enthusiasm was instantly squashed and his only comment was, "What the hell are they thinking?". This is going to be the average TES/Skyrim fan's reaction to TESO. The real issue is that the vast majority of them are going to have that reaction only after buying the game. I'm glad I saved my friend some money as he would have bought TESO on brand recognition alone. Many others out there won't be so lucky.

Oh I forgot to mention he is also an avid EVE Online player as well so he's no stranger to PvP so that isn't what put him off TESO. What did it is the fact that his character will be locked to a faction at character creation which goes against everything he knows about The Elder Scrolls series. His same reaction is what I expect from about 80%-90% of the TES fans out there.

Bren

Hate to bring up WoW:MoP,but the fact that they can give the player the ability to choose sides after a certainn level does say something. then again locking races/factions to one another could be part of a balancing mechanic too, im not a programmer or work in the industry so who knows....also lore wise the pairings make sense, for the most part.

Im staying neutral til the end, the cinimatic looked great!, and like OP said CG's are mostly ment to drum up excitment for peeps that dont do a lot of digging on a game.

I found these 2 videos to be helpful..for me at least

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8luBc0X3vIg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLp0ykvotEI

Im not holding my breath or getting overly excited til the doors open (so to speak), but I will be keeping an eye on ESO til then.

I like TSW and EVE. Have liked but no longer play WoW, Fallen Earth, Vanguard and LOTRO  Unexplained soft spot for Star Trek online which baffles even me.

HA!l me too!

LOL just sounds like a reputation grind

Advance through six ranks of increasing prestige: “Outsider”, "Newcomer", "Friend", "Hero", "Champion", and "Legend".

Earn Reputation Points by completing missions for allies such as the Gree and the Voss, or for military divisions within the Republic and the Empire.

dont mind em, but the planets still just feel dead...

If this was true, that violent video games/movies breed the "events that are happening with youth...then on there account I would be considered a Serial Killer canadite LOL.

7-10years old watching freddy, jason, goolies, hellraiser, mortal kombat, etc..( like many others)

<--Family of 5 that I love to death, and why I bust my ass at work....nuff said {grins}

Using a respec in this game will secretly label you as a 'cheater' online, sharing the same exact title with people who hack character lvls and items. Then you get persecuted by the online community for having this title

for not wanting to waste your time remaking bad characters

and you will make bad characters, the tooltips are so poorly labeled and the game mechanics can be vague at times. not to mention the many useless skills

I thought the same thing til i played around with some of the skills together, you just have to find the synergys and what works best for you,and is most fun.

It seems metacritic attracts a lot of angry people.  D3 being online only and having a RMAH doomed the scores of anything else Blizzard releases after.  I have no interes tin MoP, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go and post a low score in a review for it.

It's also another example of how metacritic has zero affect on sales and neither does it reflect true consumer reactions.

Yep

I can go make 20 fake emails, then go make 20 accounts on metacittic and either give a product a krappy score,or a good one.

@ Zikari

Warhammer online: Age of Reckoning implimented the "Guard" skill for the Heavy armor/tank classes. It worked very well, I felt as a tank I was contributing to the team, by being able to gaurd one of my less armored team mates, and it suited the role of a tank.

In a game with out the trinity, peeps are right, you need to learn new tactics and work together a bit differently.

IDK about DAoC's RvR, but atm in WvW (my personal exp) most of the action is zerging.

and people complaining about how there class cant take another class 1v1, is honestly stupid..for the most part imo. PvP is team based play. if you want to win 1v1 you better off playing a FPS or fighting game >.0

I dont miss the trinity at all, but then have I played plenty of Guildwars during the years (side by side with a whole bunch of other MMOs though).

I dont mind the healer really but the tank just make any combat into incredible boring skill rotation.

I think it just take some time getting used to, many people have played trinity games 5-16 years and beliving that 3 weeks of GW2 would change the way you play completely is a bit naive.

In a few months if you still play I think you will get the real backfeeling of the none trinity combat, you know when you dont have to think but just react to anything.

Exactly!

I was actually getting frustrated with my proffession around 15-25, until I found my groove/play style, got use to the skills/traits that were availible to me...and once I did...I started to have a lot more fun reacting/switching up skills in the middle of combat to fit the situation.

The dungeons on the other hand...idk only ran 3 but it felt like a rez fest...personall exp,not saying there bad or anyting, lol guess I need to play a few more of them >.0

Reminds me of when I was playing EQ1 one day, and some noob got lost swimming in the Ocean of Tears.  Everyone told him in zone chat that there was a huge sea monster that would eventually track him down and kill him.  It was hilarious!!!  We eventuallly let him in on the joke, and got him back on track.

Now that is hilarious!! ^

All in all good read and agree whole heartedly aspecially :

"it appears that many players are stepping up and lending a helping hand. Something I’ve very glad to see."

And thats way it should be. There have been a few communites/MMOs I stopped playing because the community was horride. Hell I remeber in vanilla wow, specificly when I was just starting in felwood,I had  gotten my self into trouble a few times (not knowing the area very well and wondering into danger) and a higher level player (passing by) would actually stop and help me out.

All Loot/Level based systems will always, always have a grind. Get over it, Honetly the only time a Level/Loot based system will not have a grind is when they just hand you the damn loot or make it so easy that there is no point in playing the game.

I played the krap out of Diablo1 and made the choice to grind the krap out of it for gear/loot on Nightmare, and you know what I had a lot fun doing it because I (read I) made the choice to do so, and the game was just fun to play, aspecially when my buddies joined in. Oh and playing with other people, was the other fun part of a multi player/online game.

you dont want a grind go play a single player non loot based system other wise your going to be unhappy for a very long time.

Freedom, freedom to create my own journey, my own quests.no premade quest/theme park style attaching a leash around my neck, pulling me in one single direction.challenge is another factor, I want it to be challenging to get to end level, I don't want to gain a level for sneezing.Basically, the opposite of todays mmos lol..

THIS.

I would add/elaborate with a ruleset that allows this freedom and the social aspect of guild cities/seige warfare. The games that I have played the longest get me invested with this, because it is not some script that hits an endpoint (or in the case of raiding, a script that plays like a broken record at endgame), but a neverending challenge of politics, warfare, and wealth accrual that you can use to build the landscape around you.

ditto, so far GW2 (for me) has some of these aspects.and no im not a fanboi, i actually just bought it on a whim said wtf, was not going to buy it. honestly glad I did.

I grinded the shit out of Diablo 1 to get the best LOOT. Any game that has a LOOT/cosmetic based system will have a grind some where, but the level grind..not really feeling it my self...the player makes it a grind IMO.

Im only level 40 atm,and still really enjoying the DEs,and ya some times they can get repetitiave, but you know what its a lot of fun when you get distracted from what you were GOING to do because a DE is going on and you see a bunch of players running around, and you decide to join in.

but honestly like the TSW, guild wars 2 went away from the mold a bit, and people dont like it. Why? well imo because you have to relearn mechanics and all the nEW things they did a bit different. And I was one of em, when i first played TSW I could not stand it, the mission system was confusing , and so were a lot of the other mechanics, same with GW2 and the skill swapping and DEs. but after about an hour or 2 in both games I got really into them , and a blast to play.

oh god, I hope never.  The questing is the worst part of GW2 :/

Care to explain?

the freedom to do what you want? not stuck to quest A1-A12 to complete a quest chain to get full Xp, Down Leveling a character to keep all areas relevant. I get lost on what I want to do some times because I was so use to going to hubs to pick up the 10 quest go out and complet them then LEAD me to the next area. but not every one likes cream with there coffe,so to speak.
