SOE made the choice easy for me when they decided to increase the Station Pass Subscription for the 2nd time in 4 months. They're timing couldn't have been better to force me to jump, since It was really convienient to jump to LotRO for their lower subscription price.
Just another genius business move by SOE. |

What Sci-Fi Game do you look forward to most Star Trek Online Or Stargate Worlds?
Open Beta Discussion « General Discussion 4/21/07 10:56:06 AM
Six months ago STO would have been a no brainer choice for me, but Perpetual's recent "development" decisions have clearly shown they don't get what the Star Trek franchise is about. With them half assing the space portion of the game, we can only assume they'll put the same "effort" into the ground game as well. So my answer at the current time would have to be neither game interests me anymore.

Thanks for posting CnCUFPForces, if I was misinformed then I stand corrected (and happily so at that) as a community with no opinions is pretty useless. Maybe it was just bad timing on my end where I saw members talking about deleted posts and then suddenly deciding to give up their opinions. I admit, I read those posts and didn't stick around the site long because I didn't like what I saw or thought I saw.
Back to the topic, one of the main reasons I am against not having interiors, is because I was really looking forward to being able to board other ships (as well as being boarded). When I thought of the game, I always thought about what it would be like to be on a mission with some friends and suddenly coming face to face with a Borg ship. Suddenly intruders would beam through the shields and it would be time for the Security class to jump into action! In the no interior version of the game that gameplay doesn't exist (except maybe on a player city). I could understand them not having full ineteriors which might be /to/ much detail, but having the basics like Elite Forces had would work fine for me. I could deal with just going to the turbolift and pressing a button to go to engineering, sick bay, armoury, trasporter, and maybe (if resources permit) a lounge type of area. I know the idea of ship interiors is inferior to some people, but like stated early in this thread, Pirates of the Burning Sea became a whole new game in my eyes when they decided to add being able to have your avatar walk around your ship and board others. Before that was added I comepletely wrote off the game since it was so much like many non subscription games based on pirating and ships. Now that it has the interactive ships, I'm considering a subscription now. |

I wouldn't post over on the STO.net forums, the mods tend to bully people over there even when they give creative opinions. It seems over the weekend there was a discussion about the no interior news and it ended with several members suddenly posting they were shutting up, posts disappearing, and only the posts praising the no interiors staying or being unchallenged by the mods (despite people quoting old mod posts where they detested the idea of no interiors before it came a reality).
It's a shame there isn't a official forum for the game where the Dev's could see creative criticism on why their latest decisions could potentially be destroying the game. |

I hate to be negative about a game that is still early in it's development, but the news that they decided to not have ship interiors for player ships and just have Star Trek Legacy type combat has me not as excited about this game as I once was.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's the interview I am talking about. sto.gamona.de/board/showpost.php |

Wish list of fantasy books to mmorpg´s poll
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/24/07 3:09:13 PM
I voted for Dragonlance, there hasn't been a good game based on Krynn since the old SSI gold box games for the early PC and C64. As much as I loved the Dragonlance books, I think a Forgotten Realms (preferably the cystal shard series) MMORPG would be a better setting because it would be very difficult to recreate Dragonlance's world at war feel.

ARE Perpetual paying too much attention to TREKKIES?
Perpetual Studios Version Discussion « Star Trek Online 3/09/07 9:28:29 PM
I am a bit weary with the focus being more of fun then simulation. Everytime I have heard the word fun when talking about MMORPG's has resulted in bad experiences for me. DDO was a game that stayed away from being a simulated world and was designed to be instead "fun" (I didn't stay past the 30 day free period). The hated NGE was designed to take SWG from a simulated world to be more "fun" (I lasted a week before I departed with close to a hundred thousand others). Even some games that get "fun" right like Guild Wars, still had a short replay value (again from my perspective).
I've had high hopes for this game since it was annoucned because like many, i want to feel apart of the Star Trek Universe. I have full confidence in Perpetual making a great game, I just hope they don't go overboard on the Fun where it feels like a multiplayer console game that doesn't have much long term value. Games like EQ, WoW, and Vanguard prove you can create a simulated world that is still fun. Hopefully Perpetual has a better meaning of the word Fun then DDO and NGE did. |

I like the game alot, but the best advice I could give you would be to try and get your hands on a 10 day free trial and make up your own mind on the state of the game for yourself.

Brad McQuaid back on the forums for an epic hit!
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/09/07 11:48:02 AM
I find it comical that Sigil chose not to have an official forum for it's subscriber's to be able to use to get information from, choosing instead to create their affiliate program which is supposed to make it easier for us to get information on news regarding Vanguard. Yet all the Dev's including Brad himself continue to all post the most detailed information regarding the game on a uber guild website that isn't apart of the affiliate program they created and forced on their customers.

That sucks I had high hopes for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, with Julio moving over there, he'll surely ruin that game like he has to the others in his past.

SOE station pass going to $29.99
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 2/28/07 11:19:36 PM
I've been a long term Station Pass subscriber as well. After today's announcement I have cancelled my Station Pass. $25 is my personal limit in what I'll pay to play a game. It's a shame too because I've been having fun in both EQ2 and Vanguard. Now with the increase in price there is no incentive for me to stay loyal to SOE when it comes to choosing a secondary MMO to play (especially with LOTRO coming out with a $9.99 a month subscription). So the bottom line is, no matter which game I choose to stay in out of VG or EQ2, SOE now loses $10.00 from me as I become single game subscriber.
Another sad note is that this is the 2nd price increase in the past 6 months they have added on to the Station Pass. Some white shirt over at SOE really must love losing the company money and just handing over more potential subscribers to the other companies. |

Bottom line. You tried it, now will you buy it?
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 1/08/07 10:15:51 AM
I'll be there opening day, but It's a damn shame and waste of lots of hard work and money just to be blown on a launch many will consider botched, just because they can't hold out another 3-4 months to optimize the game. Real damn shame.
