<Vanguard> is a new guild on borean tundra, we are accepting all levels and classes at this time, we have a  fairly active player base as well as many 80s that would be willing to assist new WoW players. At this time we are working on farming heroics to gear up and preparing to work on 10man raiding progression. This guild would be great for any new 80 or any new player in general to learn how to play and be part of a helpful guild.

    I'm glad you are trying DAOC, it's a great MMO. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have in the past and hope to here in coming days. Planning to come back to DAOC myself here shortly, hope things are as great as I remember:).

Level 50 is doable solo in 3-4 weeks. I soloed my ranger to 50 in under a month really easily. Though rangers/scouts/hunters solo real well with the changes though that was.... a year ago and they may of nerfed them down.

If they really try I believe they could bring back a lot of their old playerbase.  Many of us were simply discouraged that they weren't working on DAOC and spending all their time on WAR. I'm sure a lot of people would be willing to come back if they bothered putting some effort in to DAOC again.

Honestly I'm planning to go back to DAOC and check it out again just to see what's changed in the last year. If they plan to continue to improve upon the game I'll stay if not I really don't know what MMO I'll be playing.

I know 2 that are and they happen to be my brother and I.

I played EQ from 1999ish-2007 on and off. I have so many memories from the start to the end of my EQ career. One of my favorite was on Stromm in a small guild called Asylum of Insanity. I was a babarian warrior named Therinn.  I would say that for the most part my memory of EQ is small fragments of my best and worst memories.

When I first started I was about 13 years old and  about 18-19 when i quit.  I spent so much time on this game 5+ hours a day and if  I couldn't play I freaked out:)

Now to my memories.

Its honestly the simple things that I remember best! I fondly recall hunting Black burrow gnolls to turn in fangs. Back then everything seemed so epic to me since it was my first MMO. I looked upon those camping the elite gnolls with envy wondering how great it must be to be able to hunt them :). I also remember hunting bandits in the Karanas and turning in their sashes! I'm not sure why but I recall these events so fondly even though they are the most simple of memories.

But I must admit I miss the old auction system before the bazaar in the commonlands! I use to get up at 5am or stay up all night! then I would offer half of what players wanted for their items because they were so tired of trying to sell an item all night then I would turn around and sell it for double what I paid. I loved doing this and as a newb the money was really good and the more I did it the more I could buy and the more I could make. After doing this a bit I got a full set of bronze armor... and I had a bronze axe... I thought I was so godly. I was a cocky dwarf with my bronze shell.

I miss Everquest I know its changed but perhaps its time for me to come home... Everquest will always be my home among MMOs nothing will ever feel the same.

Not that I am saying its purpose, but neither was WOW, when it first launched. And it has what 12 million? Anyone remember SWG launch? or EVE? lol. Sure swg turned into shit because of devs, and yes the same thing could happen now, but lack of communication should not be mistaken as forgetting. Sure the devs lied and didnt update. But then again if you been working on a project for 8 years, and are in depth and love games like they do and are a indie company, and need a 10-20k subs to start to make it what it should be, what will you do, throw that 8 years in the toilet?

So hard core pvpers love it? Sir I played Shadowbane beta to closing. I owned many nations. Shadowbane had a much better sand box feel, less of a grind, required more team work, and even lagged less and Shadowbane was one of the laggiest MMOs. granted some of this can be fixxed with time and may be. But untill then I don't want to play a sub-par Shadowbane beta again.

Alright here is my view after 2 weeks. At first glance I  noticed the graphics weren't the best but of course as an ex-shadowbane player graphics obviously arn't the most important aspect of a game. So i roam around about 30minuts and a friend and I save some random guy from a PK, some reason he thought us two newbs could take him. I thought well that was pretty cool but then another 30minuts I found some mobs wacked them for a bit only to be PKed repeatedly by my own race.

After talking with my friend we decided to stick in town and skill up on each other. After hours and hours of repeatedly hitting each other to work on skills we go back out. We had issues killing mobs due to latency issues, though at times the lag clears up. After days of wacking at warping mobs and getting mobs stuck on rocks so i could wack them easier I was starting to have fun. Of course all the major clans have ways to max their skills fast often exploiting to do so making it hard for others who don't to compete.

So after my 2nd week I just started to wonder if i'd be better off playing Everquest, Asherons Call, or giving up MMOs all together since I was so dissapointed. The pvp was far from what I expected, people bunny hopping and going around in large groups ganking newbie areas. I understand its thrilling that you can be killed at any time, again pointing out that i played shadowbane since beta to its death. But its rediculous. There seems to be no real goal other than kill players in any way you can exploiting or not lag or not. As for the PVE the mobs pathing is horrid, they run around randomly when you attack them at times some times running some times charging and some times they run back and forth because they cant make up their minds.

The game could be good but it needs a lot of work. Though seeing as there is no good PvP MMOs on the market since Shadowbanes fall I would suggest you try it if your a hard core PvPer. Well let me correct that no good PvP games of this genre. Many would argue that EVE online is currently the best PvP game but I didn't get in to it enough to judge.

Alright, I believe its working correctly now but its still 11 hours of downloading 0-o. But that should be done within a week or two. (curses ISP for such limited bandwidth) I would say hope to see you guys in game but pretty much 99% of the posts recently were from 3 different people counting myself :P

True, but I would argue that most of the games issues were with avatar combat and players were the ones who pushed for it to be out before release though. To my recollection they had planned on releasing with out the avatar origionally and they had to rush it so satisfy the beta testers. But yeah I agree a bit with most of what you said especially about a cohesive community.

One thing I have noted is that in the last couple months POTBs rating on MMORPG.com has increased by .2. True its a small amount but takes a decent amount of people to even make a splash in a games rating. (unless its the same person making accounts over and over to bring up the numbers)

I would also like to point out how some people talk about two men being together as a sin. Well from my understanding a sin is a sin simply put no sin is more evil than another. Thus those who eat too much are sinners because Gluttony is a sin to my recollection.  Basically 99% of us Americans are sinners. How do you justify using the bibel saying its a sin when so is eating that extra muffin for desert? :P

Honestly I see no issue with blaming religion as it is in all honesty the cause of much hardship and through history was used to control people and is still used as a weapon today. Religion is and was and perhaps always will be used as a weapon to get others to believe in the same things as you. But I still believe it is some ones right to believe in a god.  Of course since im a non-believer I will most likely be flamed myself for thinking different.

    In my opinion  as was stated above gay marriage/Civil unions should be allowed as not allowing it  we are ignoring the constitution and using religion as a reason not to allow it. As I recall there was a seperation of church and state.... Honestly I can say I am ashamed to be an American. Not all but we seem to be ignorant of human rights even though we claim to be the land of the free.  We contradict ourselves by not allowing gay marriage .

All men are created equal, unless you are gay or we don't agree with you. This is America, this is how we live. Perhaps I understand this because I don't belong to a political party infact I feel Political parties harm the welfare of the country. A democratic president will for the most part be thwarted by the republicans, the republican presidents will be thwarted by the democrats, why? Your not in my party thus I cannot agree.

Perhaps I see this because I believe in no religions. Because I believe in no religions I still think its a humans right to believe in them. I don't tell them they are wrong because I don't agree with them. Because of this I am able to sit back and see both sides of the arguement and it is clear in my eyes that there is no reason why a man cannot marry a man or a woman a woman.

 To deny a man or women his or  her constitutional rights makes this country that I love, the United States of America no better than any former regime condoning racism, oppression or genocide. We the people of the United states believe we are above the rest of the world and it is this that has caused the rest of the world to look down upon us. In modern times we are in fact the msot despised country in the world even more so than China, North Korea or Iran  out side of our borders.

I've looked in to this game and it reminds me of Fallout 3 gone MMO, I am actually quite interested in the game because Fallout 3 was a great game. I mean it has the same crafting system... scavenged parts ect to make different weapons and so on. The world events, ect all similar. I would guess Fallout 3 fans would love this game.

Well the fact they are improving exsisting game content before producing new content is a good thing is it not? Whats the point of adding new content if the current content is flawed? It would be like trying to put out an oil fire with water. It would just cause more issues. To me this seems like it would be The reaons why I will be trying POTBS again in the forseeable future.

Think it they or some one else would send a disc with a newer version on it?  I can only download 1gig a day and thats shared between multiple people so it would take me a very long time considering it wants me to download 8+ gigs.

My download speed is 45 kBps, what is yours if it only takes 2-3 hours?

*add* eh not worth it, i only get 1 gig a day max from my gimp arse ISP. 24 hours would take me well over a week considering.

lol hit 0 and rolled over to 23 hours... It appears to be the last file so im holding my breath.

Its almost done now, at 4minuts, just taken ages. Well my reinstall was from an ancient pre-order disc I got.... had no patching done since it was pre-ordered, perhaps thats why.

I'm curious why the PotBS patcher is extremely inaccurate at predicting time? I just reinstalled it and have been patching it for about 10 hours, it said 4 at the start and now im at 2 hours? Is there something I am doing wrong (not that I can think of anything I could be doing wrong since its a patcher...)? Ill also let it finish the file its on itll say 1 hour, start again and it will be at 2 hours? *sigh* its taking much longer than it lead me to believe.
