Vanguard PVP is the best around currently. I only played PVP MMOs and I have played all of the ones mentioned here pretty extensively (except Wow wich isn't a pvp mmo and GW wich isnt an MMO). Vanguard FFA PVP on Tharridon is full open PVP with no safe zones. You loot players for thier gold when they are killed and the killee takes big weapon and armor dmg upon PVP death. End game PVP content like mounted PVP and Ship-to-Ship PVP are more promising than anything out there currently. Castles and guild housing (ships and houses are currently in game and althought the housing isn't guild housing there are permissions you can set for guild access) are also end game content that look very promising as it has been said they will take damage. There are a few other reasons it's the best PVP around currently but those are the main ones. All the VG haters can start flaming now but there is a reason all the big guilds from L2 are there.... |

I played ac, ac2, l2 (along with about every other major mmo made) and im telling you right now the Vanguard FFA PVP server is the most hardcore PVP server ever put together. Cash loot, open PVP with no safe zones, player and guild housing, ships, etc. that take dmg............end game gonna be hawt. |

Due to the high system requirements of VG we have opened recruiting as we are experiencing a lower than expected turnout. We are currently recruiting PVP oriented players for the FFA PVP launch server. [DREAD] has been around the block a few times most recently in Archlord, Auto Assault, Lineage 2, BF2, SWG, and SRO. If you think [DREAD] might be a fit for you you can apply and obtain information at http://www.dreadlegion.org.

Hmmmm.......Asian MMO's have no quests? Do your L2 class change quests in prelude or chron 1 and tell me that. That is just plainly not true. While I will agree that Asian MMO's have a heavier grind that is not the major difference. The main difference is consequence. If you die at a high level you loose days of grinding, if you get killed after PKing you can drop an item it took the most reasourceful player months to acquire. Yes it is about hacking the grind but more prominently about positioning yourself so that you are the one taking the items and XP not loosing them. On top of that the second largest difference across the board is that they usually sell in game items for cash directly, L2 didn't or I wouldn't have played. |

I think you have to have good PVP mechanics to breed the infamous players. The "good vs evil" statement was pretty dead on. The games I played that I remember infamous players were these from new to old: 1. Lineage 2 - Infamous player from many different time periods and many diferent guilds. Pre-C4 L2 was a great game and open PVP and the benefits of zone control (castle ownership) like taxation an PVP benefits bread some real competition. 2. EVE - In the beginning the game had some really Infamous Pirates and guilds. You knew where they were and you couldn't go there without getting owned. EVE's PVP mechanics hurt it quite a bit. 3. SWG - In the beginning there were famous doods across the servers. IMO this game banked on the Star Wars popularity, without it I don't know that there would have been much at all. People sure remember the name of the first Dark Jedi Master tho. 3. DOAC - DOAC was revolutionary to the PVP genre when it was released. Most of the major guilds created in DOAC still roll thru MMO's today and I see names from the game all the time. 4. UO - What can you say about UO that hasn't already been said a thousand times. UO is the father of PVP MMORPG's. |

Huxley is going to be the new planetside plus 10 if it doesnt lag itself to death. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay as it has been explained is going to be awesome. We played PS but it wasn't a true twitch FPS. It is an MMO tho. We have been watching Huxley since it was announced, everyone can't wait for the game. We all hope Huxley will finally be a true MMOFPS, as far as I am concerned one hasn't been made yet. If you are a doubting thomas and this video doesn't change your mind then there is no saving you. Wath the Nov 10th video, the quicktime version seemed to work much better. http://www.gametrailers.com/search.php?s=Huxley&str_type=movies
**EDIT: For the record the majority of the BF franchise hardcores agree that BF2 is a much better game. I compare 2142 to Vietnam, I think it's much better than Vietnam but at the same time I think BF 1942 DC and BF2 are better games. |

Bill O'reilly is a mental midget. If playing games is what makes you happy then do it, if it doesn't don't. You can't take anything with you when you die, the whole "waste of life" comment is a cliche statement driven by social osmosis. |

Third party software such as Punkbuster is completely different than what is being discussed here. Punkbuster exists solely to rid games of cheaters and they work with developers to provide a solution. When publishers start scanning things like history and cookies there are several issues. If you think blizzard is using what they find to get rid of cheaters and botters exclusively then you are wearing rose colored glasses. Yes it has been done to some extent before but that doesn't change what it is. The marketing dept. has their hands on that information regardless of what blizzard or anyone else says. To deny that simple truth is ignorant and that is only the beginning. |

it's just a bad time for hardcore MMOers in general. Games like UO, EQ, L2, DOAC, SWG (in the beginning), had great player bases that stuck with the game for years. There aren't any games that have come out lately that the big guilds even want to play and the old ones are dead or ruined through shat patches and updates. There are some really promising MMO's coming soon, pick a good one and stick with it and you will be able to find a guild that lsats the long haul. |

I own a 360 and I have played PS3 and Wii. 360 is the worst of the 3 hands down. PS3 has amazing graphics and in that respect is will always be amusing at least. Sorry fanbois but the Wii was a lot more fun than the other 2 and both of the guys I workl with that played it with me agreed.........keep your PC's for the hardcore games and get the Wii for some chill fun. |

I am getting a Wii cause it isn't trying to compete with my PC......I played the PS3 yesterday for the first time, amazing graphics for a console, will it compete with my PC? Never. Thank you Nintendo for redeeming yourself after the gamecube and Sony can bite it. They are going to loose millions on the console launch ( which is common as it is usually made up witihin the first year in rights and games and what not) and if the blue ray looses to HD DVD....... talk about a money pit. No one deserves it more. |
