General: 2010 Awards: Game of the Year
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/14/10 11:42:49 AM
Im going with Final Fantasy XIV, every update they put on it in order to round off those rough edges goes unnoticed by many players and i really like the game. |
|
|
I think WoW, it is astounding how much they have changed the 1-60 experience, i never mind starting a new character and the visuals have also been improved like those of the water effects. This has by far been the biggest change. |

I think that an 850W PS would be more than adequate since i've ran a 5850 on my 750W and there can't be that much of a difference. If anything, i believe that a 600 or a 650W power supply might struggle, but that's it. |

Played the Closed Beta, then the Open, and now that it has been released i cant get off it in my free time. I love it and players that are not used to the gameplay might take some getting used to but its such a broad game and a fantasy worth exploring in my opinion. People can be picky but these are the basics of the game and as expansion packs come out you can kiss the last generation's MMOs goodbye. |

This article was both informing and enjoyable to read.... i agree that more articles like this need to be created |

Hope its as much of a hit and will blow me away as much as Runescape diod at the time of tis release. |

I think that, that is a an excellent build and that you should be more than fine for ages but the problem is that at the moment there is a big jump on high spec demanding games. Having said that, the build is awesome and if it does not do the trick than i will have a major problem with my pc. You should definately make it as long as you have the $$. P.S. Dont forget the optical drive I aspecially like... all of it -> motherboard is all you can really ask for, the black edition cpu is something that you really cant go wrong with and on top of that the graphics card is something that would really get your friends jealous |

I guess im ok.... Score: 3092 Load Time: 16952 (On the low benchmark since on the high on my 32" is only scraping 2000) A little low but i should be able to play without a problem P.S. Game looks owesome as expected and i think the benchmark scores are a little harsh even considering the option since with such a little score my framerates were still within 47-87 FPS (measured with Fraps) throughout the benchmark (not includint the 1200FPS during the logo at the beginning "Rig": Windows 7 Core 2 Quad Q8300 - 2.5Ghz Palit GeForce GTS250 1Gb E-Green (750/1005/1660 at the time of the benchmark) Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 7,200RPM and 4Gb 800Mhz DDR2 |

From your options i seriously suggest the Option A to Option B since it's soo much better however you anticipate you having to get a better graphics card with either 1 of the options afterwards which could be another $130+ so instead i think you should buy the one suggested by viddster as the graphics card will significantly impact your gaming experience |

My slightly outdated "Jimathy" (or so i called him) is: OS: Windows 7 Ultimate CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 currently running at the standerd clock of 2.5Ghz but i often run it at 3Ghz+ (Running on a P45 chip with 8-Pin (2x4) Connector so it is easily overclockable). Cooling: Corsair H50 RAM: 4GB DDR2 Single Channel RAM at 800MHz Graphics Card: Palit nVidia GTS250 1Gb/1024Mb - E-Green edition due to the fact that at the time my power supply had no 6-Pin connectors and only 2 Molex connectors. Standard clock 675/900/1458 however i usually run it at 787/1066/1721 boosting Windows rating of both 3D Performance and Windows Aero Performance to 7.0 with it's 68.2Gb/s Transfer Rate and 50.4 GTexel/s Texture Fillrate - which i aknowledge is way lower than the standerd edition of the model and other graphics cards. Hard Drives: Western Digital 500GB Caviar Blue 16Mb Cache and 7200RPM SATA drive and external 160Gb and a 250Gb Buffalo MiniStations running at 5400RPM through a 2.0 USB port which i use to backup files from home, from school and for friends when i need to reinstall their PCs Motherboard: Asus P5Q Pro Turbo PSU: OCZ Z-Series 650W Case: Antec VSK 2000 Case Monitor: Acer AL1717 (which im saving up and looking forward to replacing with an Acer GD245HQ 24" 120Hz 3D Compatible) and i have a 32' AcousticSolutions TV that supports 1080p and 1080i. Mouse and Keyboard: Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000 with the BlueTrack mouse - which does the trick when i switch between displays and makes multi-tasking easier. Sound/Audio: Logitech X-540 5.1 Surround Sound speakers (70 RMS and 140 Peak Power) which blast out amazing music with deep base and awesome gameing sound when positioned properly thats blasts out through my onboard 8 Channel Sound card. Internet: UK TalkTalk 24Mb with Unlimited Download usage - actual received speed is at the bottom on my signature Accessories: A mug warmer which damn helps throughout the day and night keeping my coffee warm when gaming Screenshot:
Pictures: I have not taken any since i dont have no flashing neon lights due to the fact that they generate light which prevents me from sleeping at night and generate a bit of heat which i dont really need either. However upon request i can take a pic of the whole set and the one of the PC from the inside. |

As a very educated guess and due to the Japanese system requirements for the alpha system seem to be something like: OS: XP SP3, Vista SP1 or Win7 CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (2.4Ghz), AMD Athlon x2 (2.4Ghz) or better RAM: 1.5Gbs for XP / 2.0Gbs for Vista & Win7 or More Hard Disk: 10Gbs (20Gbs with Installation Files) Graphics: nVidia GeForce 8800 (512Mb GRAM), ATI HD2900 (512Mb GRAM) or better Audio: DirectSound Compatible (DirectX 9.0) Internet: Constant Broadband Connection (I’m guessing recommended 2Mbs or better) Display: 1280x720 (32 Bit Colour) DirectX: Version 9.0c So therefore i would recommend a PC that looks something like: OS: Windows Vista with Updates or Windows 7 (i think that there will e DirectX 10 effects that you would not be able to experience on XP since it does not support DirectX10) CPU (Processor): Any Intel or AMD that has 4 cores or more however i would recommend an Intel Core 2 Quad or an Intel i7 RAM: 4Gbs+ of either DDR2 or DDR3 memory type with frequency of 800Mhz+ i think Hard Disk: I would not get any "Caviar Green" hard disk since they are extremely energy efficient and therefore not as fast, instead i would recommend a hard disk that is 250Gbs+ running at 7,200RPM or more Graphics: I am an Intel and nVidia fan so my response would be an nVidia GTX260, 275, 285, 295 or any from the GTX400 series however an ATI Graphics Card that is from the HD4 or HD5 series would also be great APART FROM HD4350, HD4550, HD4600 and possibly not HD5450 (However i think that the HD5450 might still do the job at a struggle) Audio: As for the audio any on-board sound would probably do the job however i would recommend getting a cheap 5.1 or 7.1 audio card unless you have on with surround sound built onto your motherboard Internet: If your still with Dial-Up, your in trouble so get a broadband preferably with a high download limit or unlimited. The test your speed at (speedtest.net) ant anything over 1.5Mbs+ should be fit for any game however if you get 5Mbs or more it would be better. Display: I would recommend a display that supports at least a resolution of 1280x1024 DirectX: Don't worry about the DirectX since most games install it themselves however if you get an error saying something like "Runtime error direct3d.dll" or something similar when you try and launch a game, then search in Google and download DirectX9.0c PSU (Power Supply Unit): It depends however i would get one that is 550 Watts plus and just to be safe a 600Watt one, however it is down to the graphics card and whether is requires 1x 6-Pin Connector, 2x 6-Pin Connectors or 1x 8Pin-Connectors to whether you will require 1, 2 or 4 molex free Molex connectors. Conclusion for PSU, one that is not too cheap with 600Watts to be safe especially if you have a really new graphics card since they suck in the power. Motherboard: Don't be fussy and if you buying and already built computer you don’t need to worry too much, but i recommend one that has: -A PCI-Express x16 slot -A few PCI slots -Has 2-4 RAM slots with either DDR2 (that supports 800Mhz and hopefully however not necessary 1066Mhz) or DDR3 memory interface (which supports 1333Mhz, 1600Mhz and totally not necessary 2200Mhz) -Supports the CPU type since they support either AMD or Intel and they support different types: /For an Intel Core 2 Quad processor you need a motherboard with and LGA775 socket /For an Intel i7 processor you need a motherboard with a LGA1156 socket that also supports Intel i5 processors /For an AMD Phenom x4 you need a motherboard with a AM3 Socket /For an AMD Phenom x6 you need a motherboard with again an AM3 socket -Also SATA ports would be required for SATA Hard Disks Far any question please reply in this blog as opposed to e-mailing since chances are that i would not reply. |

Low Budget - GeForce GTS250 Mid-Low Budget - GeForce GTX260 High Budget - GeForce GTX275 - GTX295 or newer.... and if you have some time to spare wait for nVidia's new series to come out with the GF100 GPUs ;-) but i would personally not go for ATI since my friend has one and it really did not impress me |

Anyone know any good games i can play with these requirements?
Hardware « General Discussion 3/17/10 10:39:10 AM
Sorry to dissappoint but i would scrub EVE off te list unless you can deal with the really low framerates but i just want to check whether you mean online or single-player games before i make any suggestions.... in either case you can you (CanYouRunIt <---Link) to see whether you can play the games you are thinking of. |

I don't think you have anything to warry about except that Temp 1 and i would check to see if putting the mouse over would tell you which temperature it is indicating.... yet again even that is nowhere near as "warm" as my old computers' 96 degrees single core which resulted in my heatsing burning my hand when i tried to take it out to clean it. Yet again even that is working fine and has not given up on me yet so my mom is using it downstairs :P ... go Intel. *FYI i did nearly faint when i saw that temp :D |

I hope i did not catch you too late but i am using an Asus P5KPL-AM which seems really good for what you want, but i need to warn you that it supports up to 4GB DDR2 RAM overclocked to 1066MHz and does not have SLI or Crossfire. |
