Originally posted by pdxgeek Ok, PROVE that there are only 7 thousand players. Whats that? You can't? Oh, well... If you think this game only has 7k subs, you are seriously delusional. You are stating to believe you're own hype. You call out others for lack of evidence, but provide none yourself. Ironic, to say the least.

I always thought EverQuest II deserved the sub numbers that World of Warcraft has. It is better in every conceivable way in my opinion. It doesn't make sense, I guess it's just a twist of fate. Vanguard, by early next year will really be getting a lot of attention. They ae waiting to do a re-launch, and this time they aim to impress (and for good reason). Age of Conan was designed for consoles, end of story. I hear their community makes WoW's community look like Ivory League. Welcome to EQ II. I would suggest the Role Playing servers, even if you don't RP. Great, awesome, wonderful community of folks. |

Is this game worth coming to as a noobie?

Originally posted by Lonewolf Most of the world is zoned, not instanced. And yes, a lot of people are above level 50. There are plenty of people playing the game at all levels. Most just solo to 20. But I have 4 alts over 40 and never had a problem grouping, even at level 12 (try the caves in Qeynos and the Knoll cave in Antonica). I don't know about the PvP server, but this game is designed to be a PvE game, so I would not expect too much from it (could be wrong). My wife and I have played EQ II off and on for four years because it's the best grouping game out there. Mature community (at least on the Role Playing server) and of all the games we have played we have never found a MMO that is so easy to jump in a group (unless you play at odd hours). This game is SONY's flagship MMO, and the population is very healthy. Hope that helped a little. |

I think the lack of a marketing/advertising push is due to the fact that the game is not polished yet (they still have work to do). Once the game is polished they will blitz with ads and promote their trial island (which I'm sure will be a huge island). They want to impress everyone this time, and for good reasons. I've been following VG for nearly four years. It's come a LONG way, but it's not really ready for the public yet. It's kind of in a genuinely open beat state, you know the kind where it's almost ready to go live. It's very playable but lacks some polish. When they ran their so-called "open beta" it was not even close to that state. Me, I'm waiting for the character model revamp as well as the animations revamp. They also need to redo the log in screen and other minor touches that would give the game a more polished look upon selecting your character. The current character select background was rushed into open beta. The good news is that VG has a lot of loyal fans. The players who play it now are the reason it will succeed in the near future. They have funded the development team with the money they need to polish this gem. So I'm glad to see the dev team rewarding their loyalty by listening to what they want in the game. I my self have thrown a good chunk of cash (off and on) at the further development of this great game - because I believe in it. One day soon every gamer who likes true MMORPG's will be thanking all the loyal players who have supported this game through it's 'dark period.' VG will be the best game on the market in less than a year - by far. Even WAR can't touch it. Because these two games are designed to be two very different games styles. WAR is like DAoC on steroids (with will be awesome!), but VG is what I'd call a real RPG in the spirit of genuine open-ended adventure. I think if you look at it this way, you won't mind playing the game in it's current state - which is certainly playable and enjoyable. Just my opinion. |

Originally posted by Leucent So there is no way to craft or buy them, they are just random drops? If so, lets hope they drop fairly often. EDIT: and thank you for the reply. |

Originally posted by Zorvan This is from this LINK: "The guild halls will be located in the oceans around Norrath. Specifically, they are said to possible be on the coastlines in Antonica and Commonlands. Don’t worry about having to fight for prime real estate, because they will be instanced." So that leads me to think there will be quite a lot of them, and also (as indicated) they will be instances. I'm not a fan of zones/instances, but somehow it works in EverQuest II. It would be keping in line with the rest of the games design. It will be basically a small city - but a huge, huge guild hall. Complete with private boat docks to take your guild mates around the world. Not sure how guild mates all living together in their own 'guild city' or 'town' will effect the major city populations. At any rate, this can only be a good thing no matter how you look at it (in my opinion). |

How do I re-subscribe to this game? It would seem there is no way to re-sub on the website. I've been gone for a long while. I haven't been subbed to a MMO in a few months (but I am playing EQ II on the vet access). Then it dawned on me how much I miss this gem. I heard they added player-placed campfires. Is this true and, if so, how do you do it? Can you place a campfire anywhere you want? What is the best places to solo in the PvE game? Is all the content still group oriented? Or is it now solo friendly? Do you still play, and if so, how come? The RvR is the best, but what I always liked about DAoC is the interesting world design and art direction. There is just something exciting about the game world. But no matter how fun a game is, you WILL get tired of it. But I revisit the games that have re-play value - like DAoC.

Originally posted by bomj 1. Yep. DAoC is one badass game. There is nothing like defending castle walls with your realm while another realm breaks through the walls and you all retreat into the inner keep as they begin breaking down the door with a battle ram. In my opinion the graphics are great and don't seem dated much to me at all (unlike EQ 1 gfx). <shrug> 2. Or Vanguard (huge seamless world). But I'd wait for the upcoming character revamp. VG is a sleeping giant. Once it's polished, it is poised to receive a lot of deserved attention. They said recently in a interview that they are adding social features - like PvP mini games in taverns (chess, checkers, darts, etc.) plus fishing, actual gardening on your property and player-placed campfires ala Star Wars Galaxies. Also, Vanguard has a crap load of classes (it's insane). No PvP on the big servers, but you can always duel. 3. EverQuest II is a great game. Not without it's faults, but it is polished and content heavy and grouping is both easy to get into and loads of fun. This game is the one that deserves the status Warcraft has. Never understood why it's not done as well. Join the Role Playing server (AB). Even if you don't RP the community is one of the best I've seen in any MMO. Can't say much for LOTRO. Some like it but I was pretty let down. I expected more. Much more. But to each his own. Anyway, all three are wonderful fantasy games and probably the best three out there. |

If you are looking for a crafting system like SWG - why don't you just play SWG? It remains the best crafting system in any game ever. And it's a virtual Star Wars world - whats not to like? Forget the past. Just play it. Bloodfin and Bria are doing surprisingly well population wise (as are some Euro servers) |
