One of my best memories was going to the Endor Moon back in 2003 when I was a noob... seemed like I'd been transported back to 1983. It was magical. RIP SWG... for now.

I'll be there. I want to be on the stage when the curtain is pulled forever.

Good idea.

Game is EPIC. Those who don't play, don't know.

Running:

Nvidia GForce 6200 A-LE, 512 MB

2GB RAM

WIn XP Home Edition

This system runs the game fine on maxed out graphics (sometimes turned down a bit in cities). I never knew what people were talking about lag making the game unplayable. And when I started playing I had a weaker card installed and no problems, lag wise.

My system is an Alienware (a real Alienware built in Florida; before Dell bought them out ; now they whore the brand out) and it was optimized and overclocked by them.

Vanguard is a great game and most people who have negitive opinions on it almost 100% of the time are going on outdated data, half-truths and/or just flat out trolling.

I jus' started playin the game's trial yesterday and so far i've had some fun with it.. It defiantly seems more rough around the edges compared to other MMO's i've played.. But it captures the star war's feeling and lore pretty well if you ask me.. And being a Star War's fan i'am getting a lot out of it..

I guess since i never played it before NGE i don't really have anything to compare it too.. But so far it's reminding me a little of Fallen Earth in terms of how it plays, looks, and feels.. I don't know ill give this 14 day trial a shot and hopefully get some fun out of it.. Who knows, might even hold me over till SWTOR lol

That's GREAT, have fun with it. It's just a video game. I've played it through every version. It's still a complex, unique game. It's a blast infact. Especially if you've never played it before. For a Star Wars fan, there is none better. Not even TOR can touch it for SW nostalgia. You can use a mod to get a better interface, like all MMORPG's. Be sure to uncheck "off set camera." This game is one of a special few that, in my experienced opinion, is a genuine MMORPG; one that did not forget the RPG part. SWG, Vanguard and UO are the only electronic online games that feel natural to old pencil and paper RPG players. Make sure to get into a good guild. Search on Google for a guild. This game is still very complex and has a steep learning curve. There is a whole lot you can do in the game that is not readily obvious.

At the moment, I'm playing Vanguard. Best MMORPG on the market, hands down. Massive world, polished, numerous quests and endless variety. If you enjoy the "openness" of SWG be sure to try Vanguard (try the 14 day free trial).

Enjoy your adventures.

I'm curious about the social features of Lord of the Rings Online.

Please tell me what the game offers.

* Whats the deal with tobacco? Is it just /smoke or is there more to it? Like different types, etc. Is there smoke ring tricks?

* Any mini-games like playing cards, gambling in taverns, drinking games, etc.? If so, please explain in detail.

* How does housing work? Can you decorate outside of it? Can you plant vegetables, etc.? Please explain.

* Does dancing have any role in the game?

* Music system.. I hear it's great, please give me a run down.

* Anything about the game an old role player would enjoy knowing.

Thinking about giving this one a try. haven't really played a MMORPG full-time since SWG back in the day. I head this game has a lot of social features and RPG-type elements. I like games with immersible environments.

So... is the campfire still the same or have they actually added a flame to it? The lava effect is silly.

I've looked under game options but don't see the option to un-tick "off-set camera." Anyone know where the option is?

Can't stand that over-the-shoulder camera angle.

I understand what you mean.

What is the best and fastest way to help your guild?

What do you, yourself, do to help out?

It is fair. I said as much.

And I do have all the expansions except for the latest.

"Do they open up old expansions to the general population?"

Yes.

Guess not.

Well okay, that sounds fair. I don't mind waiting for expansions to open up to everyone. If it takes two years thats fine. There is a lot to do in EQ2.

Okay. Now could some kind soul please explain to me how this is fair to longtime customers?

Do old accounts get all the expansions and adventure packs for free? My account is from 2004 and I'm pretty sure the only expansions I ever bought were DoF and EoF.

I noticed they are selling the game nowadays with all the expansions (even the new one) for about the price we payed for the base game. I'm wondering as a long time customer do they open up old expansions to the general population or do you still have to buy them?

How?

The fact that we pay for MMO's is stupid. What suckers we are. We buy *copies* of software and then pay $15.00 bucks a month to be allowed to use it. Jesus, how dumb can we get?

Now SOE, seeing just how stupid we all are, is going to have you pay real money for virtual items!

Don't even try to defend their business model. Don't be a tool.

Think about it.

Why don't they just make 1 single server? Then the game would be 'heavy' populated almost 24/7. When will these SOE people pull their heads out of their asses?

Well, if they don't add social features it will hurt the game. Those kind of features are what make a game feel 'alive.' I don't play MMOs anymore. They are ALL crap. I have a feeling this one will be more of the same (no matter what hype these business men try to sell us).

RIP MMORPG's.
